Tsunami
That just reads so so wrong still after all this time... I understand your reasons for going to Newcastle after the way Havelock Snr was with you... But crikey, Redcar fan to Newcastle fan... Oh dear oh dear We thought you had made the switch at one time.

Tsunami
Mammoth effort from the sheeters today to get the sheets down in over 20 mph winds. Fortunately the wind slightly subsided, and they stashed down long enough to get the practice run. Many Many thanks to you all for your efforts. Fence behaved itself and, talking to the riders to get to know how hard they want it, we had a certain rider give us feedback by throwing himself into it and get the right hardness. No mention of who it was, but no doubt one of the photos taken will surface shortly and you will see who it was. Went into the carpark and I swear the number of people who attended the practice session must have near the same number of cars that a normal meeting brings. Really well attended, with families using the facilities laid on with drinks, snacks a last years merchandise sale. Nice to note that half the new terracing is in place and grouted, so here's hoping we can use it as sections of it are released. As to the racing. I know some have already ridden, but I can safely say that today was the first time ever I have seem the whole team on the gas from the very start of the session. No fallers or engine probs, and everyone liking the track, augers well for the new season. No problem with newboy Lewis Rose, he will do well. Anton was getting a lot of mentions with the crowd, but to be fair, I thought they all performed well and looked good. Some of the juniors got track time as a thank you fo Tomorrow of course is the formal day for new photos, team shots, etc, and they will be followed by a 4 team launch from the local Northern teams for a piece to be shown on local TV's. Be interesting. If you can make it, the first photo shoot stats at 11.00am. Would love to see helpers after the press session to help with the removal of the sheets. With people working, we are hopelessly understaffed so any help would be appreciated. In the evening of course, we have the Meet the Riders/Race night at the PTE starting at 7.30pm for first race at 8.00 See you then.
Bagpuss
Heard some really good things today on the Lynn terraces from people in the know about how well the Lewis' are being treated and looked after in the north east. Hoping to see some hefty scores from them for both you guys and us this season, two very talented and down to earth young men.

HadrianDog
Good to be back at the track which looks just great. The new air fence is the finishing touch to a superb track layout crafted by the largely unsung 'mud farmers' who create the platform for our unique sporting spectacle. A huge thanks to all who regularly participate in track and surround prep. The only sad note was passing Jason King and family at the gates pushing a four wheel baby buggy instead of a two wheel speedway bike. Come back Jase. you have it. erniew
It was Schrammy, it would have looked even funnier if he had worn one of those velcro suits and stuck to it. See you all at the race night tonight.

toontrader
Everything to do with the speedway looked excellent track/fence /riders. Terracing coming along nicely, hopefully they will allow some of it to be used from the start of the season. Only suggestion is can someone use a chainsaw to chop down those ridiculous bushes on the centre green next to the starting gate. Other wise well done all of the volunteers over the winter/spring months

Only suggestion is can someone use a chainsaw to chop down those ridiculous bushes on the centre green next to the starting gate. Other wise well done all of the volunteers over the winter/spring months On behalf of the many workers who actually carried out a lot of the work, many thanks for your acknowledgement of their efforts. It was a hard difficult start at the beginning of the year, with pouring rain very every week during a lot of digging and concreting. Rained off a couple of times, but the decision to start early this year was certainly justified. As you say, there is a great feeling of expectations and satisfaction with everything that is happening at Brough at the moment. Amazed at the attendance at Brough on Sunday with families basking in the sunshine, having participated with goods from 'our' snack bar. Yesterday was a business day of course, with interviews, photo shots, and vid of starts and mini races for the presentation put on by the 4 teams for the TV footage. It showed a combined effort with all 4 teams determined to show a united front to press home the sport and hopefully more coverage at local level from all the TV outlets. Everybody very complimentary about the condition and changes to the track surface and of course the new addition, the Black and blue air fence. Mention was made that the noise seems to be kept in the stadium which benefits the fans. Be interested to know peoples comments on the change in noises during races. At the night do, the Supporters Club hosted the Meet the Riders/Race night, with a full compliment of all team members. They had agreed to stay up for it, and the Lewis's were interviewed by George early on so they could disappear home because they have racing today, but we were all very grateful they had made the effort to stay and meet the fans. Next on interview, and early exit, was Robbo and Chris who both had a long journey's home. Christian, Ludde and Anton last on, and all riders very happy bunnies with their reception and the events that had been on during the last 2 days. With a canny attendance, and profitable raffle and race night, the night produced a tidy sum for the funds of the NSSC, which of course will all be used for the benefit of, and to help, the club and the riders. Looking forward to the clashes with Worky over the weekend. Don't miss it.
