Newcastle Diamonds 2014

Recommended Posts

You really are on a rant at the moment aren't you.

During the year there are discrepancies develop between club statisiticians records and the BSPA ones. Every year there has to be a reconciliation between them. Even statisticians on here like SCB also have discrepancies which can usually be resolved.

You are becoming obsessive Ian.

You may be right Dave. Which is why I am considering giving Speedway up.

Try to enjoy 4 blokes racing against each other around a track 4 times. That is all this is important really, rather than getting obsessive about matters you disagree with.

It's NOT matters though is it Dave. It is principle. I was brought up to believe in Sporting excellence. In the belief that one Man/Woman or Team pitted themselves against each other on a Level Playing Field in FAIR and HONEST Competition.

The way things are in Speedway (and some other Sports too) at the moment are very far removed from FAIR and HONEST.

THAT is my problem.

From Double Points, Play Offs even some League Meetings - need I mention Belle Vue v. Poole. That Meeting should NEVER have taken place. It did - but - to cap it all - Poole get the Seven Points up that they require to progress to the 'Play Offs' and the Meeting is called off. IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE STARTED. All that in front of all the Television Viewers watching - it looked what it was - DREADFUL. You wonder why new people don't come to Speedway - you don't have to look too far to find out.

A lot do and replace others who leave. But they don't have your hangups to spoil their viewing of such an exciting sport. A brilliant exciting meeting on Sunday, which was the top meeting at Brough this year, and all you moan about is the TR. Especially when you say on another thread that a rider must ALWAYS do his best every time then criticise George for NOT instructing his rider to drop back and FIX a 3-3 instead of a 4-2. Hypocritical.

Sorry Ian, but I think I need to put you on IGNORE.

No definately Ian.

r, ok,,, thought I may have planted the seed,,, but I would have defo went for the 3-3,,, in most sports now, you have to accept manipulation (bending) of the/some rules to benefit ones self/team,,, its always went on and will always go on, and until your caught, its ok ;-) IMO Edited by ruffdiamond

No it was definately Ian I had been talking with, as I reminded him he had been very outspoken on another thread about all sportsmen should do their best every time and I said that it was not always possible. He disagreed but in that case thought that Richie should NOT ride his best and come in last instead. I could agree with going for the 3-3, with heats running out, but NOT after saying sportsmen have to give their best performance everytime. That's hypocritical.

:t:

Blimey, a bit doom and gloom for you Geordie boys (or mackems in TWK's case) isn't it?? I saw Newcastle twice this season and they have a team of triers and racers. Robbo typifies their spirit. Worrall and Tulley are excellent to watch and even Schramm gives it his all. Cheer up for goodness sake. See you at Somerset next year...i'll buy you a scrumpy!

I see what you say, but I do like his posts, (sometimes),,, but surely, good sportsperson's should only do enough to win, and how they do it is part of 'the game',,, am off to bed now, got 'peanut butter ben n jerry's', nite nite ;-) Edited by ruffdiamond

I know you won't read this - but - it is not hypocritical at all. If you have a TACTICAL RIDE - what is wrong with riding TACTICALLY to avoid it. Not hypocritical to me - just Common Sense. The Rider would be riding his best for the TEAM and that is what counts is it not?

Or am I wrong about THAT too?

That's exactly my point. I am a big squash player and have been for nearly 40 years. If you can coast a win, without putting yourself out, you do it. You get the win for you and your team. If your opponent is good and difficult, you have to be able to raise your game to try to win. If you are in a championship final, well that's when you should do your best through preparation, attitude and application.

I would have given instructions for a 3-3 unless of course if we had fluked a 5-1, and it would have been a bit obvious to lose the points. Remember the carry on at Stoke, many years ago, when Shane Parker was had up by the referee for not trying by dropping back to lose a point and prevent a Tac or to give Glasgow a tac..

I agree!

so do I, on this occasion,,, a tight match with a lot riding on it,,,

I would'nt suggest that these tactics became habitual, but done discreetly in situations like Sunday, which if had been adopted, would mean that Redcar would ONLY of had to beat 'The Rebels' 54-36 for The Diamonds to go through on race points scored,,, so wait and see what happens on Thursday,,,

I see that this thread has sort of criss-crossed, but there's not really any rules to stop it from happening, and am not writing it again, lol

anyway,,, can we have Ludvig back again ???

ideally in a mix of, the Worralls, Rosen, Kerr and Lambert (haha), Robbo, Henry, Wooly top Summers, Scrhamm (for tenacity), maybe swap Tully for Deek, and Cook, Doyle, Ulrich, Barker if their up for it, would of said Morris, if he wants to
