A Stoke side led by NL riders Lee Payne and Shaun Tedham proved too strong for a Belle Vue Colts side who were without either of their top riders Max Clegg and Matt Williamson due to a busy run of NL matches.

Shaun Tedham took heat 1 with teammate Charles Wallace holding third place to give the home side an opening 4-2.

Lee Payne was quickly away in heat 2, with the Colts packing the minor places until Shuttleworth fell on the fourth bend whilst in second place, to gift Stoke another 4-2.

The Tedham/Wallace pairing repeated their previous race with a third successive 4-2 putting Stoke 12-6 ahead.

Belle Vue suffered a second costly fall in heat 4 when Adam Extance came down on the last bend whilst in a 3-3 position.

Shuttleworth and Extance, both starting to get to grips with the tricky track, recovered from their earlier falls to hit back with a 5-1 in heat 5 to ensure the match went down to a last heat decider.

But Lee Payne made sure that the home side took the two league points by completing his maximum in heat 6, whilst the lively Danny Phillips handed Tedham his first defeat before going on to pressure Payne all the way to the chequered flag.
