thrillpool
I'm very much looking forward to this attractive double headed fixture at Rye House. However, just to be on the safe side I'll be taking along my sleeping bag as we all know that meetings at Rye House have a tendancy to last longer than life itself. Two on the same night might mean that the famous fish and chip bar will have to think about serving breakfast if it goes on too long. Â It seems like an age since I've attended a meeting at the Len Arena and therefore it'll be great to catch up with the Rocket fanatics. I remember the good old days when the Wizard of Shadwell and Splatty used to be the top boys in the 'Temp Stand'. You'd be a brave person if you tried taking your flask of tea and fold up chair in there if you weren't part of the Rocket firm! Â If you see me, please come over and say hello. I'm thinking of digging out my old 'Mudlark' t-shirt...it's gone a bit yellow since old Kevin Mullarky was the undisputed King of Hoddesdon but I still look a Bobby Dazzler in it! Â One, two, three, four come and see the Rockets score...can't wait.
lucifer sam
What is it about Scunny riders stealing other riders nicknames? ...It's "Flyin" Ryan Fisher... Â The "nickname" I've heard most fans on the terraces call Ryan Fisher is not repeatable on here. Â All the best Rob

Haven't seen Splatty at Rye for a good 5 or 6 years. The Tempstand Crew have long departed, only a small handfull still attend. My preferred viewing place these days is amongst the rowdies on the Startline Terrace with Bolly, Startline Sid & Hooversquash. If you see me come and say hello... You'll know me as I'll be the one head down texting the Twitter updates between heats. Ben91
Going to be a real test of man and machinery for the Rockets and Jorgensen (Not any form of firearm, just a man on a bike). Rocket's heads may be turned by the second meeting when it comes to racing Scunthorpe and they Scorpions could take something from that one. Â Four points is the deficit for the Redcar meeting, we'll either obliterate the Bears or labour to a slim victory/defeat on aggregate.

westhamboy66
Could well be tight, Kasper for me is the key, he has a good one like last week we should be ok , if not i reckon the bears are easily good enough to do a job

vivabossman
Redcar riders current form guide: Â 1. Micky Dyer: Gone from reserve to No1 this season, always gives 100% 2. Thomas Jorgensen: Cant comment havent seen him ride this season 3. Ulrich Ostergaard: Nowhere near the rider of a couple of seasons ago, plagued by machine problems, spends as much time looking down as he does forward. 4. Hugh Skidmore: Decent enough season, nearly always has at least one heat win. 5. Aaron Summers: Can be a match winner, can be shocking, seems to depend on if he has had an Elite League meeting the day before. 6. Carl Wilkinson: What a trier, would be a 7-8pt man if he could just stay on his bike for 4 laps 7. Steve Worrall: Make shift replacement, has started to pick up points if he gates, not in the same class as his brother. Â Â Â
Guest
Â It seems like an age since I've attended a meeting at the Len Arena ... Â It's more than an age for me! The last time I visited Rye House the big favourites were the now sadly departed Vic Ridgeon and Al Sparrey. They raced on the long gone original track. Len Silver was only an East End cycle speedway rider in those days.
thrillpool
I'm an old fart but I think I've brought down the average age of the attendance tonight. Flasks and blankets as far as the eye can see. Â Â An hour gone and only six heats completed. If we factor in a couple of intervals, a break between the two matches and Rocket Man doing a turn for the kids, I reckon we'll be away by about 2am. thrillpool
Â Â Have you finished yet? Â Yes...finally. For a time there I thought I would have to inform Mother that she shouldn't expect me back tonight. Â Anyway, whoever the person is that decided it would be a great idea to play a ridiculous trumpet sound over the tannoy system before every race, I hate you. 30 races plus numerous re-runs and each time this bleedin' trumpet sound was played. I tutted, I threw my hands up in derision but still it continued. If you thought the old crackly 'Magnificent Men' tune they all march out to is God-awful, then you'll literally want to stab yourself in the eye with this nonsense. I mean really, who was it that heard this sound and thought, I know let's play this as the riders line up at the tapes, it'll really get the crowd whipped up into a frenzy of excitement?! Â Having said that, there was an old chap by the starting gate who was constantly getting himself into a lather. He looked like something out of the old TV show 'All Creatures Great and Small' except he didn't have his hands up a cow's backside. Well, he was giving the referee a right going over. Cursing, shouting...at one point I thought I was he was going to march up to 'Race Control' and give Mick Postlethwaite a ruddy good telling off! Â Well I'm back home now and as I sit here typing this with a hot beverage warming my cockles after a cold evening, I only have one regret from the night...and that is not having the courage to speak to Shadders. I really wanted to ask him about his interesting earring. Oh well, maybe next time...

You'd be a brave person if you tried taking your flask of tea and fold up chair in there if you weren't part of the Rocket firm! Â Were you the fat bloke in the corduroy top near the starting tapes? Looked nothing like in your photo mind. One of the better if longer nights at fortress Rye. Although they put up the price by 25% the crowd looked far bigger than against Ipswich the other week. Clearly proof that the way to get more fans in is to increase cots of admission. Surely the way forward. Â Sadly could not locate the announcer's rectum to stick that ******** trumpet stuff at the start of each heat up it. Hardly Rocket Man in terms of entertainment value. Â Home for 2.15a.m. in time to see Torquay's goalless draw with the Monkey Hangers.
Ben91
The fanfare is atrocious, dated. Needs to go. Â Scunthorpe put up more of a fight than a toothless Redcar side. The Scunthorpe reserves were impressive. Â Glad to see us in the final of the KO Cup, can't see us winning it with a NL guest at reserve instead of Garrity however regardless of who we face. If he wasn't going to be back surely a signing could have been made before the deadline to see us through to the end of the season. One man who would have fitted would be Stefan Nielsen. Â Hope Aspgren and Jorgensen aren't too badly hurt, Aspgren was brilliant last night unforced error aside. Â Two good wins, lets keep it up.
