What a match. After Kent took the 1st heat 4-2, the lead changed hands 4 times. Visitors electing for R/R backfired again this week. Hopwood has been really good round this circuit on his 3 previous visits but R/R only yielded 4 points. That was balanced out by some misfortunes for the Kings though. Boxall broke his own bike in one race, then got a win out of Compton's machine, followed by another 0 in the last heat on Kingston's bike (Jack later confessed he forgot to switch the fuel on!). Kingston himself fell twice when in, or closing in on, scoring positions. I reckon Kent could have got 5 more points but for the bad luck, making the score 52-38.greyhoundp calls it right when he singles out Kingston as the ace in the Kent pack - the second he gets his radar working and learns to scope out where the threats are coming from, he will be unstoppable. Right, following on the heels of the sound system debate, was the track lit well enough for the riders (especially bends 1 and 2) and was the lighting in the main stand bright enough for the spectators to see and fill in their programmes? For me the answer to both those questions is no. Discuss.

I have just looked at Speedway Updates and can, at that stage of the match 7.25pm, just say..."oh dear!"

Am wondering what you were looking at..?!

It was at heats eight and nine when IoW had come from behind to take the lead. As we now know, Kings came back strongly to deservedly win. :t:

Jonny the Spud ,,Im afraid it normally shows through after about 3to4 races, the shale is just not binding to it,,out on the track we do our best to keep pulling the shale back in and to be fair you can still race on the chalk base ,,but it doesent look good from a spectater point of view . I dont know the answer unless you start again from scratch and that would be exspensive,,

Hmm. I cannot comment myself as my travelling is severely restricted and trying to get to Sittingbourne from where I live is out of the question for me. But in my scant knowledge of speedway this does look like something that needs urgent attention.

Maybe it will get sorted this winter ready for next year but what with the obligitory air fences needed the costs are going to be enormous I can see some tracks not running Costs need reducing ,not the other way round...

Kent whistle gang yes the lighting needs improvement but this was the first meeting under lights,,there,s plenty of lights up on the gantrys but it is not that easy to get to them to move a few more on to the track We will have to see what can be done... By the way a bit cheeky liking your own post?!! ,not seen that before on here, maybe i should start applauding mine..???!!!!

Waco - I couldn't understand how that 'like' got there until I realised it's from another member of the gang! I'm Kent Whistle Gang and the like is from Whistle Gang. With regard to the track lighting, ironically, the dog track is lit perfectly. Wonder if there's an easy way of changing the angle slightly, so that it illuminates both? Spectators are a resourceful bunch, so we'll manage in the stands I suppose, but didn't you think the 1st/2nd bends were looking a little unsafe towards the end of the match? Fully accept your point about that being the first meeting under lights, didn't mean to seem impatient. It's just so nice to be supporting a local team again (faded Crusaders fan) that you want everything to be perfect. Silly old sod!

it was actually me liking the post lol. Father and son who are big King's fans (co-founders of the whistle gang).

spent some time in the pits afterwards, and i have to say, that Benji Compton, Ben Morley, Adam Kirby, David Mason and the awesome Jack Kingston, are thoroughly decent and down-to-earth blokes. They were more than happy to have pictures taken and chat for what must have been half an hour or more.

i wonder if the boys can get something from tonights fixture? If Steve Boxall has fixed his bike and Coles and Kirby can pick up a few points, then this will be a very tight meeting.

blow your whistle!
