Starman2006
Steve Boxall is as popular on the terraces at Somerset as what you are. Couldn't give a monkeys, he's riding well and he'd do a job for you and see the season out. As i said, shame his average is to high. But then, you don't want to finish top of the PL, according to you!!! That was a quick response by the way. Nicki Pedersen would do a good job too but I think his average is too high - so what the hell is your point? I haven't said we don't want to come top of the League either. You seem to get more and more inept day by day.

Modd
'I doubt Garry May thought so, as he sacked Stefan after the meeting! Lambert got sacked before the meeting.' Wrong Mr. M. Simon was not sacked before the meeting. He was told after the meeting. He still isn't fit from his ankle break earlier in the season and still rides with his ankle strapped and in pain. He has to get back to full fitness to ride and score like we know he can. Somerset knew this when they took him on.
Nitram
Yep Stef has been sacked! Didn't fit in with the bully No.1's views, still, when your team manager has no balls & is frightened of his captain what do you expect? He whinged about a certain Tom Perry, then Stef then Lambert.........I can see a familiar pattern emerging.
Catalan
The Aussie mafia had it in for him from the start. Was not impressed when's overheard Josh, Doyle and Morris bitching about him a few weeks back. Think Josh was blaming Stefan for a couple of poor JG rides.Could be their undoing.

It'll be interesting to see who they bring in and what the reasons for this decision are but, at the moment, you have to say its an extraordinary one and that it is entirely possible that Nielsen's face simply doesn't fit. To me,its concerning that senior riders have so much influence over a team manager and promotion. He's put at least two points on his starting average and has been one of(if not the) best of the 3pt riders that joined the PL this season. It could yet backfire big time on the Rebels. I suspect its too late to get another place but I can't see him being out of work come 2014.
Shadders
If Somerset have sacked Stefan it'll be someone else's gain. I hope Mr Sampford & Mr Silver have taken note.

Al Stewart
I thought you were joking when you said Nielsen is sacked. What? Any team would be delighted to have a battling reserve like that. I wish we could fit him in at Edinburgh. I hope he isn't discouraged by this rank stupidity and gets a team soon.
Najjer
Very disapointting and difficult to get your head round to be honest, this has come completely out of the blue - one thing you can't fault though is the Somerset promotions will to get results and their ruthless side. It wasn't far off this time last year they were taking some stick for releasing Sam Masters which nearly turned out to be a master stroke... maybe this move will enable us to go 1 point better, but I'm struggling to see it at the moment. It's been a joy to watch Stefan this season, some of his racing has gone from the unthinkable to the extreme impossible and was always good value for money. Last night typified that, in ironically what turned out to be his last match for the Rebels in heat 14 when he came from nowhere to throw in everything including the kitchen sink on the final turn - I wish him all the best for the future. Rico
http://somersetrebels.co/news.php?extend.1004 Confirmed Rose and Wright come in. Odd move imo. While Charles Wright has shone in NL, the PL has been a different matter in the past. Certainly weakens the Rebels at home and I doubt either of these riders will do THAT much better away. jenga
we can fit him in at workington, we could even do a trade for mr nills and mr lawson.lol. one again, it looks like the baby doyle is throwing his 9 stone skeleton about and morris should not start mouthing off. he rode for berwick as a guest against workington and was very poor. maybe he should spend some tine in hotel rooms and have a good think about reasons to slag fellow riders off.. Al Stewart
In the case of Masters last year, did you not have Masters, Vissing and Monberg all available and two places to fill? So a decision had to be made. This time you have discarded a young up and comer for an older low average rider, possibly a small short term gain but a long term blunder I am sure. oldtimer
Bit of a shock that, and ironic as Simon rode a great race to win heat 12 last night, however his away form is not good and if still suffering from an injury, probably the correct decision to let him go. Stefan Nielsen on the other hand has been an excellent reserve at home, a paid max a few weeks ago, an entertaining rider and a real battler as last night proved. However his away form is not good for some unknown reason, and if we are to win the League we need to make changes, it's not impossible that we could have won it anyway without making changes, but if one of the top 4 have an off night we are in trouble away from home. It's a choice of winning the League at all costs no matter what or who we trample on, or being loyal to a rider who has improved his average, is exciting to watch and gives his all, but needs some help (was any given) to improve his away form. One wonders if Alex turns in a poor performance on Friday will he be next for the chop? Whilst I understand why the changes have been made, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. I assume the two new riders have been declared for Friday? Edited August 28, 2013 by oldtimer
Nutz
Well he did it, and reeled Josh in a good'un to hitting the tapes. Agreed - CC dropped the clutch too soon in ht11 and Josh bought it... In fairness, it was the only way anyone was going to get out of the graveyard gate 1... Only CC will know if it was deliberate or he just reacted... WOW, what a cracking match this was, it had everything, great ride by Alex in heat 9 to hold up Tabaka and let Nick through, great ride by Lambert to win heat 12, Stefan the unluckiest man of the match with a puncture, then being knocked off, and pushing his bike home for a point. Dubious decisions by the ref ,Nick disqualified a real howler and in heat 14 Stefan the meat in a sandwich when knocked off and should never have been all riders back, Cook moving at the start in heat 11 and forcing Josh into the tapes, no ref warning.. A fantastic heat 15, have never heard the crowd so vocal. Also music much better tonight and interviews louder so you could actually hear what was said over the tractor grading. All riders from both teams giving everything, a real classic and great entertainment. Would like to know who got rider of the night as my mate had to go so did not visit club house after match. I would have given it to Stefan. Lets hope we lose by 8 points on Friday then we can do it all over again! You been watching a different meeting to me. - Heat 14 was a classic unsatisfactory start with all 3 riders going for the same piece of track. No issues. - Morris was correctly excluded for bringing Sneddon off coming into turn 3. Pointless really as Morris had the speed to pass Sneddon cleanly but chose to wipe his front wheel out on the quickest part of the track. - A fantastic heat 15? Really? Apart from Cookie throwing everything at Scrabbleman, it was a standard 5-1 FTG. Maybe we should've put Cookie off of gate 3 - he could've then got to what little dirt was left on the outside, quicker and split the Rebels... Hey-ho! - Davies had a good ride in heat 9 but was bang out of order with an over-zealous move to slam Sneddon into the fence in heat 14. The meeting was very good for drama though was far too drawn out which is unusual for Somerset. Very pleased to see both Max and Stefan get up from a bruising fall in heat 8 when the ref made the only wrong decision of the night to exclude Nielsen. This accident was caused by Newman cutting across the track to challenge for the lead in the inside leaving Nielsen and Fricke absolutely nowhere to go. Rest, the ref got spot on. Yep Stef has been sacked! Didn't fit in with the bully No.1's views, still, when your team manager has no balls & is frightened of his captain what do you expect? He whinged about a certain Tom Perry, then Stef then Lambert.........I can see a familiar pattern emerging. He's the bravest rider out there on the night and this is how he's rewarded? Top work!!! I thought you were joking when you said Nielsen is sacked. What? Any team would be delighted to have a battling reserve like that. I wish we could fit him in at Edinburgh. I hope he isn't discouraged by this rank stupidity and gets a team soon. Agreed... Probably never going to score maximums but for guts then he'd have gone through the card last night. http://somersetrebel...php?extend.1004 Confirmed Rose and Wright come in. Odd move imo. While Charles Wright has shone in NL, the PL has been a different matter in the past. Certainly weakens the Rebels at home and I doubt either of these riders will do THAT much better away. Rico This probably makes the Rebels slightly stronger at Armadale on Friday night for the return leg... Another backs to the wall performance required from the Monarchs... Lord Antebellum
I loved this meeting! A real, old-time bruising encounter, with Fricke, Neilsen and Sneddon all emerging from the medical room after treatment to ride on for their teams. It must have been 50-50% for the referee not to exclude Newman after the Heat 8 incident, but as his choice was between two team-mates, different rules seem to apply. Otherwise, his decisions were spot on. The crashes, medical requirements, repairs to the fence (and to innocent riders' machinery) stretched the meeting, but with Nigel always telling us what was happening (plus BMX demonstrations from Nick Morris and amusing interruptions by Dick Barrie, whose deflation of a heckler was brilliant) it was never a drag. Superb speedway all night, and I'd have given my personal awards for each team's most-exciting rider to Stefan Neilsen and Derek Sneddon.
