JC!
I see on Twitter that Joe has decided to call it a day immediately having injured his hand earlier in the week. Apart from the fact that this makes me feel so old, I would just like to wish Joe all the best for the future and hope that he remains in the sport in some capacity. It is clear just how much respect so many young riders have for Joe, which is hardly surprising since, as well as being an absolutely top motorcyclist, he seems like such a decent man too. Good luck for the future Joe. Edited August 24, 2013 by JC!

manchesterpaul
Pie shops in the vicinity of speedway tracks across the country about to face hard times. Joking aside a rider who has given excitement to many and hope he prospers with whatever he does next.
screm
Joe desered better than for injury to force an early retirement, even if it was only a few weeks, but he can look back on a decent career both in the leagues over here and on the international stage. george.m
I was fortunate to watch Joe at Belle Vue on a weekly basis in the late '80s, early '90s. An incredible talent and a great entertainer. Invariably winning races from behind and beating the world's best regularly. Top bloke. cyclone
A distinctive, spectacular one-off whom I always looked forward to seeing, since he first arrived on the scene as a precocious sixteen year old. He is also one of the most sporting riders, riding fair, giving opponents room to manoeuvre, and readily shaking hands with adversaries at the finish, win or lose. I hope he is involved in developing others, as he is an excellent role model for youngsters.
Mark
He is also one of the most sporting riders, riding fair, giving opponents room to manoeuvre, and readily shaking hands with adversaries at the finish, win or lose. That would be true for the huge majority of his career but I recall him knocking Jimmy Neilsen off his bike after a race had finished. It was live on Sky. A good rider over the years and enjoyable to watch.
