Robinh88
No thread? Two wins on successive nights I make that for the Scorpians now without David Howe. Certainly positives to take away for next season with Birks, Jorgenson Klindt and Douglas who I think will score good points As for Plymouth well injuries really have depleted the Devils. Stichauer and Toft were strange signings for me. Gathercole and Proctor are big misses. THat being said I think Rasmus Jensen will be a good solid middle order man. Be interesting if Bech stays next year if so along with Proctor, Lemon, Gathercole and Jensen Plymouth could be right up there Please excuse the wrong date I apolagise.... Penny Cross
Strange one this. Well done to everyone for getting the meeting on. Very well done to a solid Scunthorpe team. I always enjoy watching Birks and Auty, but Douglas was the surprise scorer for me. With all that effort for this meeting, why were others earlier in the season called off? The track was worse last night than for some of the others, yet no effort at all to make them happen. It was 10 times worse for the U21 qualifier too. Ok, I get it now, this was Bechs last home meeting of the season,(according to his own tweet on twitter) An huge talent, but missing far too often. Yes, I know he was signed mid season with other commitments. The fans want and need 7 riders committed to the cause, for every week of the season, continuity settles the side. The continual change in riding personnel doesn't do anyone any favours. Injuries have played a part, of course. This season has been a nightmare from so many perspectives. Take last night. Raining heavily as I arrived at 7.10pm. Waited outside for a few minutes to assess the situation. Someone came out urging folk to come in. We did and then the same guy, (Ive no idea who he is), was running round telling all and sundry that' Ashley says its on'! At that stage, surely its up to the referee not the promoter? Start delayed for 30 minutes while track work takes place. Fair enough. So what happens in those 30 minutes? Absolutely nothing, that's what. No mention of the Ricky Ashworh wristbands.(Nothing at all until between Hts 14 and 15) No interviews. No team introductions. Why not? Just before the riders came out for Ht1, the teams were formally announced, including David Howe riding at No.2 for Scunny!! (He was corrected by Trigger, his best mate)Mike the presenter is Im afraid to say, hopeless. Week after week of blunders. Last week he all but forgot to introduce our guest Matthew Wethers, only remembering at the very last second. He also congratulated Josh Grazjoneck on his race win when he wasn't even in the race! Im beginning understand where opinionated is coming from! Id only consider 2 of the 2013 Devils for next season. Bech, providing he can guarantee riding in all our meetings and Jensen. Ive been impressed with him since he arrived. I like what I see. Im not going to comment on Hynek as clearly the crash with Kalle has affected him. Jake, when he gates looks great, but has a habit of falling a bit too often for me. Lemon just seems to moan all the time. No comment on Michael as last night was not a time to assess anyone. I don't see Kurtz being here next season. Somerset seem favourites to sign him and his younger brother. Talking of Kurtz, there does seem to be issues about his starts. In 3 out of the last 5 home meetings, he has been warned to remain stationary at the starts. There have also been at least 2 rerun heats involving him in the last 5 home meetings. Last night he was warned, yet not excluded when moving again in Ht12,for the 3rd time. I don't think they have all been his fault, and that he can genuinely judge the tapes release. It did however have an effect on him. Id definitely have a new Team Manager too. Sorry Lee, but with you in charge, we have finished bottom and are only marginally better this season. Fortress SBA has long gone. Get back to that, and with our away record this season, yes, we would have been 'up there' in or near the playoffs. Riders who under perform get dropped or replaced,( Kling,Schramm,Reade) As in football, so should the Manager. Very poor with PR doesn't help either. For me to go to any more meetings at SBA will depend entirely on who the guest for Bech is going to be. He is almost worth the admission money on his own. Genuine improvement behind the scenes, smarter Arena, new stands etc. What the public see, on the track, team, Track Shop all need improving.
