spin king
They should've increased it to 10% Would be nice, especially for clubs like ours and yours where they are traditionally British dominated teams. But was deemed to be illegal.
Rockets
Can I ask. There seems to be talk of the EL falling apart and the leagues combining and because of that little team planning can be done. Is this because sky sports is allegedly threatening to withdraw its coverage or for some other reason that has passed me by?

Is this because sky sports is allegedly threatening to withdraw its coverage or for some other reason that has passed me by? As well as not being on SKY, it would more importantly mean that SKY would not be paying a large amount each year for the rights to screen it. It is estimated that each EL gets about £90k per year from the TV deal.
nigelb
90k - and still losing money??? makes one wonder what some riders are being paid in the 'EL', and how much is spent on airfares...one league seems a good idea, but how many PL teams would want to join in?? Rye has the makings of a top PL team for next year but one league, hmmm
iand
Rye had the makings of good team this year until we signed our last rider Simon Lambert on 4.41 average whilst we had 6.99 pts to play with. Garrity at reserve for the start of the season and we could have been flying. Len quoted that he doesn't look at the averages, hope he does next season. Not spending much on decent riders.

Which is why Rye House will run speedway next year, and the next, and the next. You would prefer to be a Newport fan, Phil? Or are you really Doberman, rather than Bilko?
Rockets
I agree Boobs. I think the frustrating thing for us is that Len will assemble an attractive six riders then pick a poor fitting seventh which undoes all of the good work. As you say though better to have speedway than not. Is it true Newport may be returning next year?

Or are you really Doberman, rather than Bilko? Newport and Rye have one major thing in common. Both were fed crap sides by their promoters and both sets of fans were treated like s"it on the bottom of their shoe by the promoters resulting in hundreds walking away. I wouldn't be so sure of Rye's continued existence if I was you.
Gazza66
In the local paper this week it says Luke Bowen is set to return to speedway next year. Nailed on for a place at rye I would think
Rockets
I suspect Kent might be a more likely destination .

Newport were fine when they had crap sides, when they went s*** or bust hoping that would bring the crowds back was were the problems started IMO. From our last fixture of this season to the first next season we could have a gap of almost 7 months without competitive speedway at Rye, that is terrible. Don't believe any of this one big league rubbish, not seen it speculated by anyone other than fans yet. Can see the PL points limit dropping though, 38.5 has been rumoured. Start with Mellgren, Aspgren, Nelson, Boxall and Garrity and sign the other two depending on whats left. Bunyan and one other would be my picks and lets build up to the limit!

I think we are talking about Rockets team, not Milton Keynes MDL side against whom you might just scrape a couple of point win Edited October 19, 2013 by bolly
szkocjasid
Does anyone know what Steve Boxall's average would be he finished on 5.69 for Rye in 2011 for 26 matches but this years averages are now over 24!
