startline sid
Still think letting Anders go is a big mistake. I can see him becoming a top rider this year. yes could not agree more - hate to say it but would not be surprised to see his average higher than Eddies at the end of the season

I like Eddie but think Anders will be THE man next year.
phillipsr
We all said that last year though and he didnt do it. Consistency is his biggest downfall Edited December 9, 2013 by phillipsr
Ben91
Agreed there, too many scores of 5/6 last year however he took the strain for the whole team a lot. He'll only improve, think this will be his year and we'll miss out on it.
Rockets
And I assume he could have been fitted in if we had ben in for Luke?
bolly
And I assume he could have been fitted in if we had ben in for Luke? Yes, but having Ben and Simon at reserve would have been more of a negative than having Luke at reserve who can take 7 rides if necessary especially at home meetings IMHO. Maybe a straight swop Eddie for Anders and then having 2 strongish reserves may have been a better idea ?? All will be revealed next March/April whenever the season starts for us. The obvious choice would have been Aspgren and Mellgren instead of Kennett and Lambert. Morley and Lambert at reserve wouldn't cut the mustard I'm afraid. We may be lucky and get a march start yet if the Raiders return!
Brian
Cannot help but think that most of that team were decided very early on. Using Mellgren instead of Kennett could have resulted in being 3 points under the limit.
Shadders
I disagree with some of you of over Mellgren/Kennett... Anders is a nice guy, but his performances around Rye were very hit and miss. As a number one he'd be a disaster. He performed better at away tracks on the whole, Scunthorpe will suit him better. Edward is a past Rye House track expert. Once he gets dialled in he will be superb. Last years experience at Berwick was puzzling, but his away form for them was eye opening, a 9.71 average in the 3 meetings he had for them at Sheffield, Redcar & Plymouth, three different types of track. If he repeats that for us in 2014, added to a good home average, he could be one of the top three riders in the PL next year. Chris
Mellgren should have developed into a number one rider last season, but his scores weren't consistent enough. Would certainly have included him in the engine room of the side this season though & gone with a weaker bottom end.

Funny I thought he was very disappointing against a weak Sheffield side last season.
westhamboy66
It was frustrating watching Mellgren last year. He just didn't kick on and simply couldn't be relied on at home and no way wa he going to develop as a number one at Rye. I think he will do at Scunthorpe and we may well see him back one day. Edward on the other hand will be a massive plus at home and i don't see him being beaten at home too often. I see him averaging at around 9.50 or more which would be far better than a lot of our recent fake No 1's. With the inclusion od Boxall and Bowen we will be stronger at home which is a basis for a better season. The thing we really need is more consistency from Nelson and Bunyan especially Bunyan who i doubt would still be around if Len hadn't bought his contract.
Guest
We may be lucky and get a march start yet if the Raiders return! The National League forum is rather hazy in regard to a Rye House Raiders return as they were not named in the starting teams at the NL AGM. Has anyone heard anything in regard to what is going to happen in regard to a 2014 Raiders return?

stuart curtis
I think the lads have a great chance of winning some silverware next season, and as for Kennett, great signing!!!

Shadders
First Rockets meeting of the season is at Peterborough in the East of England Cup on 18th March, with the return leg at Rye on 29th March. Makes a change from Ipswich!!
