YAMYAMBANDIT
Not quite sure what you are meaning with that post? C'mon Scott, to bring junior riders on at Berwick, they need to be able to ride. We need the second half for that to happen, so lets have a more efficient turn over of heats. Barring injuries and the 2 min rule etc. of course.
Catch Me If You Can
C'mon Scott, to bring junior riders on at Berwick, they need to be able to ride. Times I was at Berwick last season all the main meetings were over before 8.30. I thouight the Referees in charge were pushing it too much.Surely the problems are with your planners? Could they not give them extra 30 minutes?
Heedthebaw
Their pit-people excel in getting riders straight out as soon as the previous heat has finished. We could do with some officials of this ilk at home - at more than one track I visit, the people tasked with keeping the meeting running seem hopelessly out of their depth. I hope Mr Barrie will be leading the way to push Berwick meetings on where possible next season. There is only one person at any track who has any responsibility as to how fast or slow the meeting runs, and that is the referee !

Planners not the problem, local opposition to speedway is, stipulation set down are no engines to be fired up before 6.30pm and no racing after 9.30pm. Apart from things like the 2 min rule etc. I would like to see when 4 racers go into the pits, the next 4 racers straight on to track. Heedthebaw
That's one heck of a general sweeping statement, though, isn't it? Perfectly true though ! StevePark
Perfectly true though ! He or she is in control of the meeting and the only person on the two minute warming How quickly a meeting is run, sometimes, is out of the referees hands though. Seeing as this is a Berwick thread, waiting for a County Ambulance to arrive (something that happened on a few occasions last season at Shielfield), for instance, is totally out of the refs hands. That's what I meant by your statement being 'generally sweeping' (and we aren't talking Curling here! ).

Fromafar
possibility of 2 ambulances being available at meetings this season so should help should there be an accident.I really hope this happens as the last few seasons with Health and Safety and protocols to be adhered regarding rider that are injured (rightly so) these delays totally kill the meetings and any atmosphere, even the most diehard fans must despair at the delays. The first aid room that was created last season did not seem to make any difference in respect of shortening the waiting time if arider was injured. screm
BERWICK youngster Liam Carr has withdrawn from the British Under-21 Championship in order to attend his club’s press and practice – which takes place on the same day as the semi-final at Plymouth. The decision has been taken after consultation with the British Youth management, who stress it will not rule Carr out of consideration for other Under-21 events.Co-boss Neil Vatcher said: “Liam was named in the original line-up for the semi-final, but after speaking to both Berwick and Liam it was felt that because this is his first year with his hometown club it would be best for him to attend their press day due to their local sponsors being in attendance on the day.“The Young Lions Management have high regard for both Berwick Speedway and Liam Carr, and although Liam will not being competing in this years 2014 British Under-21 semi-final or Final, he will be considered for future Under-21 events if he continues the progress that he has already shown to date.”

Much better to get practice in a meaningful competition, than going round in circles a few times at press & practice. I am sure if it was explained to the fans, the vast majority would understand. crescent girl
Good news in last night's club Newsletter. Ian Rae received nice recognition at the Berwick & District Forum's dinner, gaining their Service to Sport Award. To even be nominated was a boost for Razor and for speedway -- but winning ices the cake. Edited March 1, 2014 by crescent girl
