Berwick 2014?

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry but I totally disagree on the Carr front, once he gets up to heat leader level on a consistent basis at NL level then take a chance on him but just now he ain't ready regardless of 2/3 good races at Armadale this year. Racing at PL level could do more harm than good for the lad at this stage of his career.

no problem you are entitled to your opinion

I have to admit to being unsure about Kus.

There is certainly ability there, but I thought he would have developed a lot more than he has.

One thing I must say is that I'd have him ahead of Aspegren in the team.

We might not sign a team of seat of the pants riders, but then we might sign a team that is successful.

I'm still very much looking forward to the start of the season.

A switched-onb Seb Alden would be close to one of the top riders in the PL.

In the right frame of mind he could easily stick a point on his average.

I think a lot of fans will be unsure about Kus,but at the end of the day averages play a big part in dictating the ability of some of the riders you want in your Team, and as have said to you many times averages are killing the sport IMO (hard hat on).

I think that the signing of Kus could prove to be a masterstroke by the management team. He is on a bargain average, so should slot into 2 or 4 in our lineup. Here, he will not have the pressure of heat leader status so should certainly be looking to get a point on his average.

He can ride the Berwick track well and with a point to prove to the doubters from the past season, motivation won't be a problem.

However, it is his close relationship with Dick Barrie that could make the overall difference. My understanding is Barrie has supported Kus both at home and abroad over the course of his career, and by having him around the team to potentially keep his head straight is a good move.

The next signing will provide further clues as to our overall direction this year. If we are going with Carr at reserve, we need a 5 point reserve to carry him, certainly in the early weeks and months of his Bandit career.

Kus very poor signing for me tbh, no one remember the night he guested and he let the bandits down big time? Far too inconsistent, is more hot n cold than a Katy Perry song and really isn't the kind of signing that makes me feel excited about the new season. Don't think he's anyway near as good as any of the other Czechs we've had at Berwick. The signing of Kevin Doolan is to my mind only slightly better, he ain't going to drop his average much but he ain't going to put 1-1.5 pts on it.

What's happened to all the exciting riders we've been used to getting for the last 4/5 years?

Disappointed.

Disagree completely,IMO this has the potential of being our best winter signing, we have a rider in Kus who has the qualities of being a top rider, our management and promotion must try to get the best out of him, if they do he will make a mockery of his starting average.

On another note I see most are talking about young Carr at reserve but really? The lad is nowhere near ready for the rigours of PL racing

Edinburgh seemed to think so when they used him for the PL play off final at Somerset. He won heat 2 in a time almost a second faster than heat 1, second quickest time of the night. I think he's worth a shot at 3 points. I hear there are other sides chasing his signature. It's not a given that he'll be a Bandit in 2014

totally agree with this, he has shown in guest appearances for Edinburgh he is ready, if we cant give a local lad a chance now it's not giving much hope to the youngsters riding 2nd half that Berwick is the right place for them to be starting out. If we dont give him the no 7 jacket now we will end up regretting it in the future.

The team manager has publicly stated the young lad is NOT ready though. Also people are talking about needing to sign a reserve to join him if signed that can 'carry' him, so if he's ready should he need to be carried?

Could be Razors way of taking pressure off the lad. If he does sign for Berwick he'll need another NL side as Stoke race on Saturdays Edited by Shadders

He was at Buxton in 2013 so probably back with them?

I haven't seen anything to suggest he's a bargain/good signing. Think the Redcar fans will be glad he hasn't returned to their side. On another note I see most are talking about young Carr at reserve but really? The lad is nowhere near ready for the rigours of PL racing

I think Kus could do a decent middle order role for you. Carr should be at Reserve. If not Edinburgh will put him in. You just need to look at the rest of Premier clubs, most if not all are using 3 pointer from National League at 7. You becoming a bit crabby these days ?

With 3 riders signed [2 on loan] and maybe Liam if we go down the assets road that could bring in Seb and Alex and maybe a newbee [like Lewis Kerr] ?

I'm presuming you do mean like Lewis Kerr, rather than actually Lewis Kerr? Lewi is back at Newcastle for 2014.

This has been debated before, my interpritation of that interview was that Ian Rae was not doubting Liam's ability, it was the fact he is still at school and was not sure if he could commit to Premier League racing, if that is sorted then i would love to see Liam in the team

Claus Vising signed

Most of us still being busy buying and wrapping Christmas gifts, Claus Vissing seems to have already started unwrapping his and enjoying them.
So, mid December, a happy Claus Vissing announced his signing with the Berwick Bandits for the Premier League 2014, thus revealing the contents of a Christmas gift which brings his number of signings for the next season up to three, so far, as, besides Berwick, Claus has re-signed with his Polish club KSM Krosno for 2014, and in the Danish Speedway League he will return to Team Fjelsted.
- Berwick, Krosno and Fjelsted are all teams, I'm really anxious to join, much more so as both the teams and their home tracks suit me well, said Claus. So, till now, I am really satisfied with my Christmas presents this year and, I'm looking forward very much to the season comming up in just two months.

liam is more than ready and all you doubters im sm sure it will just spur him on. someone has stated that until he is a nl heatleader to leave him alone, well surely by being in the nl riders championship means he is on of the best in league. before starky signed he was a decent second string at best and then with the experiance of berwick ended being dudleys number 1 if you remember the raiders v dudley meeting liam beat starky and was beating steve worral convincingly before he crashed if that doesnt say he is ready nothing does. it has been to long since we have a local in the team and i believe that liam will be as good as the last 1 (meldrum) so how about you all get behind him if he signs instead of doubting him

Liam will need help financially to get the equipment required to compete, given that help he will make steady progress. Matej on his average is a good signing, can se him putting at least 1 point on that. Kevin would make a good Captain, whats more he can gate, don't see him increasing his average though, same goes for Mathew wethers if he returns.

I am sure LEON will be in the future, keep your mind on LIAM at the moment.

It's encouraging to hear from some that Matej has been getting a bit of form and confidence recently.

Believe it or not, I'm in agreement with Screm, it is now up to the management of him to make sure he achieves his potential.

If he does, then he will be a great signing, if not, well that is just speedway.

I think Liam has to be a certainty at number 7, providing it works for him.

His results for Edinburgh were very good for such a young lad.

That shows he is able to improve, which takes takes and application.

I'm all for having him in the team.

Watch this, we'll have a team that doesn't excite on paper, but delivers on track.

Mark my words!

If it was to be guys like Alden, Weathers, Carr and a half decent reserve that would be a pretty good side IMO.
