manchesterpaul
Spot on as always. I think the Swedish coverage is the best at giving you the "You are there" feeling. Now if they can just broadcast in "Smellovision" Hmmm that depends on who they site the Smello transmitter next to. I've had to move away from people in the past at tracks and no i haven't mentioned tracks in the sticks where farmers go straight from work to watch the racing lol. How does the Swedish league work? Have a look at Ghostwalker's page one of this thread. It's likely he covers it there. Then again it's only a few weeks since i pasted for you the clear explanation provided on the official Svemo site

mikec
Pleased to see Jonas Davidsson have a decent night, fair play to him, started feeling a bit sorry for him at times this season. Some really decent racing tonight, look forward to more tomorrow - rain stay away!!
Ghostwalker
Obviously we can't have most of that as us English tend to only speak our own language. I think 'lastword' was centering in on the actual racing cameras though. Are you getting relatively basic camera shots when the race is in progress? I'd imagine the feed that goes to international broadcasters of the actual race is the same that you see? Or are you getting all sorts of snazzy angles and helmet cams etc! No helmet cams: as for the rest you can see for yourself:

manchesterpaul
Paul, you have a match to switch over to Join you all tomorrow folks. Alan. I already watching both United and City matches at the same time as the speedway, you should be aware by now of my legendary multi-screening abilities lol. Although i may get a tad confused at times such as thinking that Rooney just won heat 15 and Davidsson has put Man United in the lead lol. No helmet cams: as for the rest you can see for yourself: Yeah that looks the same race camera coverage.
RobMcCaffery
The general, but not universal principle with 'International feeds' is to go to a wide view on a locked-off camera while the home broadcaster has pieces to camera and interviews which are mainly in the local language. In the case of Premier Sports poor Dave has to keep going, filling in over a pretty useless shot, which isn't the easiest thing in the world, hence his skilful use of social media to fill the gaps. The same applies to David Rowe on GoSpeed's coverage of the Polish play-offs. I've never seen the actual racing coverage differ, just the gaps between. Interesting though that the Poles seem to take the straight Sky feed of the Elite League and talk over Messrs. Pearson and Tatum which would no doubt delight the petty whingers on the British area of the Forum... Not a bad match tonight and I have a soft spot for Vetlanda since it was the first Swedishj track that I visited. Looking forward to seeing the superb Motala circuit tomorrow though. Just one sad sight tonight - flares on the terraces - uncomfortably like the unpleasant side of football for my tastes and Vetlanda were also guilty last week at Malilla. Taking the point about the relative strengths of the Swedish and Polish leagues, I'd love to see the stats. I feel though that Sweden's had a higher level this year. Perhaps the Poles are seeing economic sense a touch - seems there are a lot of 2.5-3.00 averaged Poles in second-string positions over there this year. I do wonder how the Swedes manage to track these teams on gates of 4-5k, although there are suggestions that they can't.
PHILIPRISING
DOUBT whether they pay much if any rent and, of course, all proceeds on the night from refreshments, etc go to the club... and club is the key word
RobMcCaffery
DOUBT whether they pay much if any rent and, of course, all proceeds on the night from refreshments, etc go to the club... and club is the key word Yes of course. I've long suspected that the club, as opposed to promoter model would be the way forward over here, but things have probably evolved too far. We did have a go at that with the Rye House revival in '99 - £50 a head and a vote in what the club did but that was soon snuffed-out. Wandering Europe for sport in the 80s it was very frustrating seeing so much sport using excellent facilities provided by local government for the local common good while back over here too often it was every man for himself in dilapidated stadia in the private sector, unless you were one of the 'pure' 'athletic' sports. It IS literally a very, very different playing field over here. I do enjoy the Swedish racing far more than Poland which to me is too fast and ruthless. Sweden brings back a sport I remember so well, strong teams in front of decent crowds on a good variety of racing tracks, and with proper tactical battles being fought using the real tactical substitute rules. How much we have lost!
Ghostwalker
DOUBT whether they pay much if any rent and, of course, all proceeds on the night from refreshments, etc go to the club... and club is the key word It varies from club to club, mostly depending on who owns the track, the club or the city. I think most clubs that don't own their tracks pays rent to the owner (usually the City/Municipality). Dackarna own their own track and they are the only club that I can remember that have it that way. The only private owned track that I know of is Tallhult in Hagfors which was bought by a private person to save the speedway in Hagfors by making sure that Valsarna have a track. Obviously you just have to look back at the past 10 years to see that many teams have had difficulties and many teams have went bust but have arisen like a Phoenix bird from the ashes of the previous clubs. Allot of this stuff was in my article for Somerset Speedway that I wrote earlier this summer. michaelcroucher
I think what you see on Premier sports are not what we see in the Swedish feed. The Swedish feed is more thorough with more cameras, pit interviews, pit cameras and etc., 2 commentators, 2 people in the track side studio and one interviewer in the pits. TV outside Swenden that show the speedway shows the racing from the Swedish cameras but when they are talking or interviewing the riders etc then they show it from a differant camera.
