speedibee
The people who are staying at home to watch are Sky's customers so what do they want , pay a Sky subscription to watch speedway then not watch it ?
The Doctor... Fine, but then those same people shouldn't bleat and moan on here when Sky dont renew next season. Quite simple really.
moxey63
Having spent part of the evening watching real entertainment from Manchester City v Newcastle football match, I made the mistake to round off the evening by playing the recorded speedway from tonight. Yet again it was another bore, causing my jaw to almost lock through the yawning it did... and that's despite fast forwarding through most of it. The last race was great, but how are Peterborough managing to run with crowds that low? No wonder SKY are ready for the kill-off.

The match tonight had plenty of decent racing ...how can be another bore ? most of the sky matches have been decent this year .I find it amazing the number of people who call it rubbish just for the sake of it even when it's not .

Yeh, i was expecting a shocker and tbf it wasnt too bad. Obviously helps when there are a few decent lines to race on. Bit of a lazy statement to make saying it was a borefest.
The White Knight
Not 100 % true as I said on another topic first of all there always going to be a small crowd on a off race night plus you have to put some effort to promote the meeting as well with lower prices etc ...having a meeting on a off race night with sky in town and getting people to pay full price then you are always going to get the same result ,a small crowd . Berwick showed it can be done.
moxey63
Perhaps we all expect a different type of entertainment standard/level as our lives progress. I can tell the difference of the level and effort of racing in the GPs and the European Championship compared to the Elite League. Last night there was nothing really - last race apart - that would persuade me to attend a domestic match. It is about personal taste I suppose... but, judging by the Peterborough crowd, I am guessing I am not alone in my thinking of the standard of racing and entertainment offered in today's domestic speedway. I speak with a friend (yes I have one) after each meeting on television and it's amazing how our opinions vary on the entertainment of racing offered each meeting. Sometimes I find it hard that he thinks was a boring match and I think was totally opposite, or I think was snoozey and he thinks worth re-watching. BWitcher
Sky can show speedway on TV everyday of the week, but it wont stop the decline of people actually going to watch. It is another victim of the digital age, youngsters would rather buy a computer game than go to speedway. Other outdoor sports are suffering the same fate... Precisely the blinkered, closed attitude that has led the sport to be in the mess it is. Excuse after Excuse.
pandorum
The European championship last round was one of the worst meetings ive seen hardly one pass #4 Laguta from 3rd #5 A Laguta passed Pedersen #9 Woffy passes Nicki #10 Andersen passed Pavlic #11 Gollob passes Magic #13 Gollob passed Emil #15 Woffy and Artem Laguta exchange passes. Woffy wins #18 Woffy goes from 4th to 2nd. Vaculik passes Lindgren #19 Belousov, Emil and Nicki all exchange passes. #21 Nicki passes Emil I am presuming you never were any good at math as there seems to be slightly more than one pass here. I dunno what speedway you watch but I never saw one meeting out of the couple of thousand I have seen that had passing EVERY race. Togliatti was a pretty normal speedway meeting with some decent racing a number of passes and an exciting finish. You have every right to say you did not enjoy the meeting but why make up stuff that did not happen? Well without even looking to hard I can tell you that Pedersen was not even in heat 5 ..shame that you got it wrong straight away after no doubt spending so much time in trying to make yourself look clever ..bit of advice if you going ask someone what match they are watching you need to get the facts 100 % correct or you will look stupid ...what were you saying by the way about making up stuff that did not happen ? Bit shocked that you made such a mistake as your maths are so good

And I never said I was good at maths although I actually am Simply stating that there was indeed passing at Togliatti.

Football to me is one of the most boring 'sports' ever invented. All it is is a kids park game.
moxey63
It is amazing just how childish people slump to when speedway is questioned is a negative way. We are all different and want different things most of the time. But there always has to be a heated discussion, a one-upmanship on another poster. We are all, afterall, speedway people. We wouldn't argue for the sake of it if we were stood on the terraces together, but a keyboard broadens some of the posters' shoulders on the internet, not just speedway forums, and makes them turn into a drunk out on the town at the weekend. I say last night's match wasn't that good, someone comes back and says it was better than a meeting I had mentioned as being good racing. Someone uploads the facts of how many passes there were in the meeting I enjoyed, and the person originally questioning my taste pulls it the chaps work apart because he typed in a wrong number! Remember folks, we aren't perfect... we are speedway fans afterall, follwoing a sport that is far from being perfect. Right... I'll stand back and wait the next punch being delivered... Hackett
Last nights meeting was not too bad. I feared the worst after heats 1 and 2 but despite the scoreline a couple of Hammers rode their nuts off trying to get a point. The SEC has been slightly disappointing and the last meeting was average but then again how bad was the Italian SGP dull as dish water. Certainly the best meetings on TV this season were the Premier League meetings at somerset and Scunthorpe even berwick was better than the majority of Elite League race meets. Trees
Like others have said its down the promoters that the sky link up did not work, they had a great opportunity to show their product off but what did they do? The carried on making no more effort than normal to prepare tracks that would provide good racing and 95% of the time offer no incentive for people come to and watch rather than sit and home. Week after week after week, they just accepted the fact hardly anyone was going to turn up, it could not have bothered them too much otherwise they would be begging for sky to stay away as it costs them money. In short they simply took the money and ran and sod what happens in the future. Isn't that what many of them have been doing from the start or speedway clubs these days would be owned and run like football clubs?

Most of the above could sum yourself up ...not sure why you think act somehow different to the next person . The bottom line is if your going say silly things like the tac rule was fairer than double points or that 8th place was important before the play offs then people are going argue with you .

AndyK86
There was speedway long before sky got involved and there will be speedway after they have gone if they do pull out, hopefully British Speedway gets the overhaul it needs in winter (one big league for me) and lets hope the promoters work there arses off advertising to get new supporters! Main point of this post, however nice it is to watch additional speedway on tv, we certainly can live on without sky Oh yeh and bring back old tac subs also
