Lewis Kerr

I have been looking at the improvement in young Lewis Kerr this year, and there is No doubts he has come on tremendously, he is currently averaging 5.54 for Newcastle in the PL, which is no mean feat, and well done to the lad. However there is something that is somewhat mystifying me, and probably a few others, usually someone who averages over 5+ in the PL can be expected to carry an average of 9+ in the NL, but looking at Lewis,s average for Kings Lynn Ys he is only averaging 7-22 any ideas why this is so ?, here are a few comparisons (not many i admit) Paul Starke Berwick 3.47 & Dudley 10.11. Lewis Blackbird Scunthorpe 3.64 & Dudley 10.56. Ash Morris Workington 3.62 & Dudley 9.09. Joe Jacobs Glasgow 3.15 * Coventry 8.83. Stefan Nielsen Somerset 4.90 & Mildenhall 8.32. Adam Ellis Ipswich 4.00 & IOW 9.40. James Sarjeant Sheffield 3.00 & Coventry 7.76. Yes its something of a mystery to me, as i would have thought young Lewis would have been pushing up towards a 9+ in the NL this season, if you take his scores in the PL as a guideline.

I'd be tempted to say that the top order of the NL is stronger than the bottom end of the PL but that is the only reason I can think that an anomaly such as that would happen.

Except thats not true is it? Because pretty much all the top NL boys are in the Pl plus a few more non-NL riders.

Lets be honest, it's the best way to do it, better in the higher league. some rider have always performed better (relatively) in the higher leagues than the lower leagues.

I don't really know. It was just a suggestion to be honest

I think Lewi Kerr should be very proud of himself after his debut in the Elite.

League last night, even in the race he came last in he was right up there with them, it's only a matter of time and a bit more experience and he will be there.

It must have been very nerve racking racing against the likes of Chris Harris etc and partnering the likes of Rory Schlein.

Good Luck to you Lewi

A great year for the lad and as you said he will get there with a bit more experience.Newcastle over the years have spotted some great talent and always seem to pull one out of the bag.

I thought Lewis was excellent at Monmore Wood last night. He gave it a great go especially in Heat 15 when his last bend wide sweep ended up costing his 2nd place as Starkie nipped through on the line.

A great entertainer and this was appreciated by the crowd at the end of the night.

Newcastle didn't 'spot' him but they took a chance on him. He came thru Kings Lynn Young Stars.

Actually spotted at the Somerset Classic pre-season meeting by Andrew Tully, who was hehind him in their race :D . Mentioned it to George E, found he had not signed a contract and he preferred to have a full teamplace on a Sunday, than a shared berth at Leicester on a Saturday.

We have had the pleasure of seeing him coming thru NL with KLYS for a couple of years and I am so pleased he doubled up with the Diamonds as they are my team although I do not live there anymore. Have known George since he was a nipper !!!

He did very well at Rye last night runner up to Boxall in a run off for 1st place after Lewis and Steve both finished with 14pts.

Has been called up by Swindon for the Elite play offs replacing the injured Ashley Birks. Good luck to him

I think Steves experience won him it at the end. Good gate clamping Lewis to the kerb who picked up grip caught Steve and fell. Took it very well, very good sportsmanship between him and Steve. Credit to him, some prima donnas riders would have thrown their toys out the pram.

Mind you Boxall would be the last rider I would want to pick a fight with.
