iris123
Looking back over the years which team could put together the best team if time wasn`t a problem.I would think Newcastle with Mauger,Olsen,Michanek,Lovaas and maybe the Owen bros would be one ! Who could put out an all british side to match Belle Vue with the 2 P.C`s ,Morton ,Pusey Joe Screen (I guess even Mauger could be considered as he rode for G.? Vic Huxley Wilbur Lamoreaux Norman Parker Ronnie Moore Barry Briggs Ron How Tommy Jansson New Cross: Tom Farndon Ron Johnson Jack Milne George Newton Cyril Roger Barry Briggs Eric Williams You don't really realise just how strong Norbold's Wimbledon side is until you realise who's been left out. Sverre Harrfeldt, for starters...
iris123
Think Sverre has to take second place behind my first hero Olle, who averaged 10.40 in `66 .Could also put Ray Tauser in there and my grandad always talked about Billy Lamont. He also talked about the great Lammy and how West Ham were always trying to put him over the fence As for Tom Farndon ,Norbold if i`m not mistaken somewhere in the cellar i`ve got a programme for a Farndon memorial trophy, but i thought it was held at Plough Lane! why would that be? or is my memory failing.Ill have to get down there and sort it out! I'd be surprised if a Tom Farndon memorial Meeting was held at Plough Lane, though I suppose it is possible during the years New Cross were not running in the 50s. I did think about both Sverre and Olle for my Wimbledon team, but I thought Sverre probably still had his best days ahead of him and Olle's were behind him. But I'm open to persuasion opn both. spin king
Sheffield (1) Shawn Moran (2) Kelly Moran (3) Chris Morton (4) Jan Pedersen (5) Bernt Persson (6) Doug Wyer (7) Reg Wilson If I can't have Jan Pedersen, who only rode for us on loan for us one season from Cradley Heath, then I would go for one of my back up squad of Sean Wilson, Simon Stead or Peter Carr. The team was more impressive than what I thought.
