Super Blue
Well , I think all these arguments are going to be rather irrelevant . Much as it pains me to say this I believe the team that finishes top will also win the playoffs and I think that team will be Somerset because of their overall strength in depth . Although , from an Ipswich point of we have picked up some unexpected league points away from home this year so you never know how things will pan out . In my opinion however we have looked a tad jaded of late and Ben's injury could mean he's not fully up to speed , im just hoping the Witches can give a good account of themselves . Super Blue, you'd better take it easy on the wacky baccy, it's starting to show in your posts! My phone managed to do that all by itself in my pocket , full post available on line now , hey man just chilling !

TMW
It's going to be a fun night on pro boards with all these teams battling and scratching around for every point.

It'll have to be a helluva good new rule given that Edinburgh aren't even riding tonight.
ruffdiamond
well thats not fair,,, say Somerset beat Ipswich by 7 pts,,, and say Edinburgh beat Workington by at least 31 pts,,, thats means The Monarch's would be 2nd in the league and be able to pick their opponents,,, all things being level n that, and have sympathy with the Leicester lot... this play off mallarkey causes nothing but a headache,,, TWK,,, get them telt,,, lol
TheScotsman
I've lost the plot here. Edinburgh will not race Worky until after the cutoff date.

If we started the season with the league , we could have the cut off date a month earlier and the champions could be crowned by the first week of September . Then have the League Cup as an end of season tournament . The play-offs are brilliant , or could be if the season was structured correctly .
Bash
Surprised no one has mentioned that Newcastle won't complete their fixtures either as their match away to Plymouth is still to be re-arranged. If that match took place they had a chance of making top two!! A cut off date has to be in place as if this was extended would have a knock on effect to the play offs and could get same scenario as last season when meetings couldn't be completed because of the weather. It's just unlucky if all fixtures aren't completed by the cut-off but we just have to accept it.
TheScotsman
With the organisation in speedway at the moment I think it's more a case of lucky if they are all completed in time. Given that we have had the best summer for weather in years, what would the fixture state be if it had rained like the past couple of years? rolypolygoly
As a matter of interest, how many home rain offs have your teams had this season, Redcar have had none so it is hardly their fault there is so many rearranged fixture. I am now waiting to see which team has been lured into the trap set by the Bears.
BTFC LION
I will ask again, where is this so called cut off date in the rules??
Halifaxtiger
There isn't a Leicester/Redcar problem - on the date set by BSPA to determine qualifiers for the play offs, Redcar are in 6th place, by virtue of the criteria set by BSPA to determine teams level on league points. Granted the outstanding fixture is not ideal, but it isn't a problem! Its not difficult, is it ? Leicester / Redcar one club has completed all fixtures the other hasn't . Regardless of the points difference . It will be interesting to see the ruling on this from the BSPA. I am at a loss to understand why a 'ruling' is needed. At the cut off point, Redcar are in 6th place so they go into the play offs.
scotchopper
announced at the agm i'm sur and common knowledge. there is always a cut off date when there are play offs. who will somerset pick? really interesting to find out

There's some desperate clutching at straws going on.
Halifaxtiger
I will ask again, where is this so called cut off date in the rules?? It isn't - at least there's no date in the SCB regs. Strangely, there is a date for the NL.
BTFC LION
It isn't - at least there's no date in the SCB regs. Strangely, there is a date for the NL. That is my point !! I went through all 55 pages of the rules, no date !!! Also on the Official web site it states, The Play Off's. How they work. Teams race 24 meetings { 12 home. 12 away }. The top 6 THEN go forward to the play off's. announced at the agm i'm sur and common knowledge. there is always a cut off date when there are play offs. who will somerset pick? really interesting to find out It may be common Knowledge? But I still can not find it in writing any where? Point me in the direction of the AGM minutes and I will go through them as well.

I stand to be corrected, but I can't see where it says they have to fulfil all the fixtures (not in the regulations anyway) and, to be fair, that is impractical. Along with a lot of BSPA directives (including minutes of the AGM), it probably isn't published. As Leicester Lion says, though, you're clutching at straws here. I agree that all dates should be made public but there's absolutely no doubt that every club has been aware of the cut off point for months. Point me in the direction of the AGM minutes and I will go through them as well. Not sure if AGM minutes will be in the public domain, but suggest you contact the Leicester Promoter (Dave Hemsley) as I would expect him to have a copy of the documentation and he may be willing to disclose the required information to you.
