Rebels V Comets

Recommended Posts

Well never thought I would say this but that was a terrible performance from the Comets, on this form if we do qualify for the play-offs we will be out in the 1st leg. 13 last places says it all, and what has happened to Rusty, doesn't seem interested. Well think we need to start planning for next year

If we qualify for play offs everybody will want Workington as we are poor away at top tracks,

Edinburgh,Newcastle,Somerset,Ipswich,

To be fair it's seems like there was more than rusty that had an off night

I agree Skoobie not just Rusty everyone of our heat leaders appeared to be below par, only Kyle can come away with his head held high.

Unfortunately you are right Justin, lets hope the lads can up their game

Rebels continued where they left off with Redcar and murdered the Comets. All the Rebels again firing on all cylinders. I was completely surprised by how poor the Comets were. I thought the announcer said they were the league leaders but the Rebels made them look like a national league team only Kyle Howarth was prepared to mix it.

Next bring on the Devils!

Rusty was completely pathetic all night, trailed a mile round at the back in his first 3 races and didn't even bother to cross the line and pulled into the pits early in all of these before making a go of heat 13. To be fair to him though, he wasn't the only one. Richard Lawson completely uninterested, Aarnio and Bach had their few moments and only Kyle Howarth came away with any real credit.

It could be said the Comets were made to look even worse due to such a strong Rebels display - one of our worst riders on display was Doyley, how often is that said? And even then he was paid for double figures. Kyle once again very solid, whilst the reserves chipped in where they needed to. The other three were simply sensational, Morris and Davies were in a different league and out of sight every time by the time they exited bend 2. A class above anybody on show.

Was this the same Workington team that visited a few weeks ago? Track was much more grippy than usual and perhaps that caught them out. It certainly suited the Rebels especially Nick Morris who clocked 56.68 in heat 3. After a track grade following heat 4, Rebels banged in three 5-1's so it was against cry's of "Leave well alone" that there was more tractor racing after heat 7. Doyle had a bit of an off night (for him) and bike stopped in heat 15, for the second week Simon Lambert was worth more than his points. Racing a bit processional but that was down to a poor Comets performance rather than the track. Nick Morris was rider of the night. Looking forward to Friday Tod Kurtz said he would be fit to ride but Gathercole definitely not fit. He said Plymouth had signed two new riders, did not say if they will be declared in time for Friday, but he may have meant that one new signing was Jensen, who has ridden for Plymouth already.

When we were only 2pts down after 4 races I thought things were looking good, went to work and have just got back and saw the calamity that had unfolded in the meantime? What a total shambles this is, I have read as many posts, both here and on updates, to try and glean some semblance of how this has happened and from what I can gather it just seems that Worky simply weren't at the races and didn't ever look likely to be from Ht 5? Only Kyle with any credit, Ht leaders disinterested, reserves nowhere after Ht 2, what the hell is wrong with this team away from home against top sides? These guy's come to our's and race well yet we go to their's and!!!!!!. Yes it's only one match, and we are still top and we will "probably" qualify for the play off's, but so probably will Somerset, and probably so will Edinburgh and very probably Ipswich and Newcastle, doesn't look good does it, cant ride any of those track's lately yet they can race ours? Something serious needs to happen soon to get our form back away from DP, to be the best you have to beat the best and we are not very likely to be doing that any time soon based on this fiasco.. . Just wondering whether a bit of "average manipulation" is at work here with a view to next season, get the pts down now, blitz the play offs, not do too much damage and be ready to go nxt year on a tidy mark, would like to think so but possibility is that some could just be looking to move on, bit stale now, fresh challenge needed etc, some certainly seem to be riding like it!! It's not looking good for us at the moment but, we have to remain positive and hope that we are just hiding our light under a bushel, fooling the opposition, sucking them in or... are we just fooling ourselves, we'll see, wont be long now!!! ;)

Lots of post saying how bad Workington were; How about how good Somerset were; they never gave Workingon a look in after Ht4; Morris; Davies and Grajczonek Awesome.

Some truly breathtaking blasts around the boards last night. Very very fast racing. The Comets were made to look ordinary, particularly by the Rebels top four.. Nick was very close to bettering Leigh Adams track record in heat 3, what an achievement that would have been (Alex wasn't far off in heat 5 either), an indication of just how fast the track was riding. The boys had to hang on for dear life...but what on earth was Aarnio doing in heat 11? Not the time or the place to be looking around for your partner, and very very fortunate he and others weren't badly hurt....spectacular crash. Watching the Rebels top 4's reaction to Gary May's heat 15 selection was quite entertaining too...

Can't believe these were the same Comets that took us to a last heat decider just a few weeks ago (well 6 of them did)?? And who'd have believed 3 Rebels would score maximums and Doyley wouldn't be one of them?? Not what was expected by anyone I imagine.

Nevertheless, a great performance all round by the Rebels again - hitting form just at the right time, as they enter a very busy period of 9 meetings before the end of the month. If they can stay injury-free, they're going to take some stopping!

Not a good show from the Comets but fair enough Somerset were the much better team.

Similar thing happened when Ippo came to Worky earlier in the season and got thrased then came last month and won at DP...

Oh well whilst we are still in the Play offs, we are still in with a chance of winning the League. :P

Could probably have something to do with the fact that several Rebels fans have posted that the Comets "were" really bad!! :D You can only beat what's put in front of you and last night that wasn't much by all accounts? It's easy to rack up a big personal score when your opponents show little willing to fight you for it and unfortunately, from your point of view, that means the Rebels probably wont get the kudos you feel they deserve, sad but that's generally how it is? . Mind you, there could be times when you ride really well and "lose", that's even worse!! ;)

Some peeps who havent been mentioned were the tractor staff Ez Curtis and his helpers top effort and the rebels spent a lot of time saying how awesome the track was praise well deserved. Amazing performance by the mighty rebels and far from worky not being up for it was more a simple case of Rebels far to good on the night.Me thinks we might just be hitting top form and long may it continue.......bring on the devils

Well said!
