Craig Cook Declines Test Meetings Gb V Aus

Recommended Posts

I note that the Cook has declined the offer to ride in forthcoming test matches vs Aussies

Craig Cook@the_cookstar17h

Shame I can't afford to do the GB v AUS test matches at Workington and Newcastle. Really looking forward to them as well

From what I'm hearing points money not that bad, giving him the chance of earning over £1200 if he scored into double figures at both meets! He must be on a great deal at both BV and Edinburgh if those earning potentials don't interest him!

Wonder if anyone else has declined the opportunity to ride in the tests?

You don't need to be 'in the know' to figure out what that is all about.

Especially if there is the added 'insult' to his sensibilities and Barker is riding.

I always thought speedway was a man's sport but it seems a few children are creeping into the sport.

Well his loss is someone elses gain. Give the spot to someone who wants to ride for England and remember this next time something important comes up and don't even bother contacting Craig as we now know he won't be able to afford to ride for his country.

Only value baked beans on toast for a fortnight for this lot! Lol

Can anybody tell me why Craig Cook is not in the GB side to take on The Aussies when they meet at Newcastle stadium. Is it just because Ben Barker is named in the team.Would it not make more sense to have Craig in the team as he is a Northern lad and you would get The Monarchs fans coming down to cheer him on . Your not going to get any Ipswich fans coming up to see Ben ride.Should have had both in the side to add a little interest

I went to the one at Sheffield it was a great meeting, it said in the programme that the objective was to give riders international experience and to begin to lay the foundations to put test matches back on the Speedway calendar. It also says that it was kept at Premier League level to keep it cost effective. I saw Craig's tweets last week and was a bit disappointed to see he wasn't prepared to do them, how will we ever develop internationally if riders like Craig won't play to help the Newmans, Howarths and Kerr's what chance have we got. At least the Promoters have put something in place and it looks like Craig is snubbing them.

If it was a "real" test series i'd agree with the criticism, but given that neither side is anywhere near a full international team i can understand him not wanting to lose money in an international "b" series.

Got to agree. Cookie should save himself for the real test matches England ride in after all he is a special case in his own mind.

But of course these real test matches are few and far between here and this about as near as we will get at the moment and a good vehicle for PL riders to make a case for themselves.

Cook is just another PL rider who scores a few points in a very weak top league set up.

The idea he can't afford to ride is ridiculous and it is clearly nothing more than him having a pet lip that he was dropped after a poor WTC performance at a track he was expected to do well at. He had a chance and blew it.

Now he has another chance and has blown that too.

Whoever is managing the England team should bear that in mind and give the opportunities to those that don't behave like spoilt children.

His nemesis Ben Barker may be an idiot but he does not turn down any chance he has with the National side and tries his guts out when he gets there.

He may not be a PC or Mike Lee but he gets stuck in.

Cook is just being a baby and will never amount to anything unless he starts to ride in higher league racing in places like Poland and Sweden.

My son (Adam Ellis ) represented GB in the U21's in both Italy and Poland this year. Did he even stand half a chance of breaking even, let alone making any money ???

No chance. But in our mind its international experience and should be grabbed with both hands, and if you don't like travelling then you're in the wrong sport.

With the GB test being held in the UK it does look as if cook could be shooting himself in the foot as far as future selection may go. Time will tell I suppose

England are not riding in the forthcoming meetings though, GB are. You may care to check out Mr Tully's place of birth and where he grew up!
