waco
The Storm have a solid top 4 and the lower order are also capable of good points So im expecting a much closer result this week than the comfortable win against Buxton... We will need all the lads firing to win this one..Looking forward to some exciting racing mon at 6-

waco
Cant believe how little interest on here there is for an important league match on monday evening against Coventry ,,an yet posters continue rambling on about a fixture filler against a make shift Wimbledon team on that other thread...Are most of the posters on here nostalgics that actually dont attend the Kings meetings on any regular basis and this is their form of entertaining themselves,,.. OK sorry if thats your bag,,

greyhoundp
Yeah, weather forecast not great, but there looks a possibility that the south east corner may miss the rain belt, To the meeting itself if The Kings show the same spirit and fight, and David, Adam and Connor up there form from what they showed against Dudley, then I cant see Storm taking anything from this, but bearing in mind Storm need all the points they can get for there play off hopes, I wouldn't be surprised to see Storm take an away point. So to summarise, if Kings show the same form they showed at Dudley they will win, anything less, and Storm will take some points. Stay safe guys. The discussion you are referring to is obviously the Kent Kings v Wimbledon challenge match on Monday August 12. Have you thought that this debate is a good thing in so far it has possibly regenerated in the sport among those who followed Wimbledon in not only the Conference League era but before that when the club had riders recognised as being "all time greats" - something which Kent Kings are a long way from emulating. Wimbledon had greats like Vic Huxley, Wilbur Lamoreaux, Norman Parker, Ronnie Moore, Barry Briggs, Tommy Jansson and so on? Not one rider in the Kings side would have matched any of these. And there are others who could be added to that Wimbledon list. The Kent Kings v Wimbledon thread may be a fixture filler for some Kent Kings followers - for those who followed the sadly gone great Dons it is a chance to get back on the speedway band wagon. TBH I doubt if many old Wimbledon fans have any genuine interest in what is happening at Central Park. For them it is a chance to see a side - far from the quality of the great teams of the past - parade the famous Wimbledon colours on track for the first time since they raced against Oxford at Reading at the tail-end of 2008. Now back to our own thread...join us there. You might learn something! Edited August 4, 2013 by Guest
NeilWatson
COVENTRY Storm are targeting a fourth away win as they visit fellow National League newcomers Kent on Monday evening (6.30pm). It’s the Storm’s final away fixture of the regular campaign, and the trip to face the Kings is to be followed by tough home matches against King’s Lynn and Dudley as they look to put enough points on the board to secure a play-off position. Storm have already secured impressive wins at King’s Lynn, Stoke and Buxton, and also scored a point on the Isle of Wight, but some dropped points at home have meant their top-four place is not guaranteed. They track an unchanged, full-strength line-up for the trip to the Central Park Stadium, Sittingbourne (ME10 3SB) and several of the riders have prior experience of the new circuit from guest-bookings or appearances in Open meetings. Kent, who are stronger than when they visited Brandon earlier in the season and track the impressive Steve Boxall at No.1, gained their first win at this level last Monday when they defeated Buxton 55-38 at home. Storm co-boss Blayne Scroggins said: “We’ve got to get points at Kent, we really want to get into the play-offs and continue what we’re enjoying this season. “The other teams are all playing catch-up so eventually we’re going to have to sit back and see what happens, but we need to put as many points on the board as we can, and hopefully we can take another away win.” KENT: Steve Boxall, Connor Coles, David Mason, Benji Compton, Ben Morley, Adam Kirby, Jack Kingston. COVENTRY: Joe Jacobs, Luke Crang, Robert Branford, Oliver Greenwood, James Sarjeant, James Shanes, Martin Knuckey.

I've also had a few links "on the inside" in speedway since 1952 and first saw the sport at New Cross in April 1946. We've probably met. So far as type face in messages is concerned - that's a personal choice on my part. Not really any of your business! And remember there's a famous saying that goes something like "if we ignore the past then there is no future!' - or words to that effect. OK sorry if thats your bag,, I make no excuses about being an defunct Wimbledon supporter. But I have taken great interest in Kent Speedway's introduction, but was disappointed about your start time, which makes it impossible to attend regularly. So it was a pleasant surprise that this meeting coincides with my being off work.So looking forward to being there, oh as a matter of interest do they allow dogs in the stadium, if not I can leave her at home? Guest
Will the postponement of tonight's league match v Coventry mean the revised date COULD replace next Monday's (August 12) challenge match v Wimbledon? Or will that still stay in the fixtures list rather than rearranging the match v Coventry for that date?
blueherb777
Can someone from the Kings Management please explain why no supporters etc are allowed in/near the pits any more.Very good move for losing support by this short sighted action. How come I can go to Lakeside and go into the pits?We were near the pits tonight and supporters were not impressed.Even supporters with connection to the riders were not allowed.I have not missed a meeting,I sponsored one of the riders earlier in the season and me and a friend gave money to a rider last week (due to a distasteful incident) yet we are not WORTHY to get anywhere near the pits of a National League Club!!! Could it be 'elf 'n safety issues? I would ask you though - is the league status of a club material to your complaint?
