Mikkel Bech...whats Happening?

Recommended Posts

Rasmus Jensen. That's a good British name !!

Nice to see clubs giving young British riders the chance to improve eh ?

In all fairness, what British rider could replace Ty Proctor? I'm all for favoring Brits over journeymen foreignors and riders of a poor standard (sub 5 pointers) but sometimes you do need some foreignors to maintain a certain level.

And who would u bring in ?

It's the vicious circle isn't it

Not enough good Brits ( although Tom perry etc are available)

" ahh but he's not good enough" the fans will cry

So we leave him ( and others) without the means to compete and improve, then ......... Moan that there aren't any good Brits etc .....

Never mind there's lots of foreigners out there who can fill the places I suppose

Plymouth have to do what they think is best - Obviously put a winning team out? How would the fans react to replacing your number 1 with a 3 pointer it'd be ridiculous

I just used Tom as an example. But if there aren't any suitable Brits out there, one has to ask why ??

How long have you got? I dont think dropping 9 point riders for 3 pointers is the answer though. That would me big loses, poor crowds, club closing down. 7 less team places. It's a fine balancing act, there should be more insentives to using Brits (3 point average for x years, % reductions etc) but just plonking a British rider into a team now isn't going to make him good.

Not enough opportunities pre NL, ie for under 15's.

I don't expect for one minute that the BSPA are interested in creating more of these opportunities but if they are then all they have to do is find out what Denmark, Sweden, Poland & Aus are doing that we are not.

The green shoots are out there Baggy and the British Youth Championships are funded by the BSPA which employs Phil Morris and Neil Vacher. As you know I am pretty close to these things and you will see a great new crop coming through in the next couple of years. What we need is for it to continue and also start poaching more MotorCrossers as good as Birks, Worralls, Kerr's etc.

the management have explained the situation on the devils own forum, even you could undrestand it,as for bech missing meetings its quite obvious this was going to be the case its the down side of signing a rider of his calibre so change the the crap you keep posting reference plymouth and stop trying to cause aggravation you obviously have an axe to grind with the new set up at plymouth so why dont you speak to the people concerned face to face i,m sure they would like to meet you

Please be good enough to provide the link to this discussion, as I cant find one on the official website. Im not posting crap, as you put it. Im just quoting other information thats available via this website and the Heralds. I'm questioning the validity of the their story. Either they have got it completely wrong, or Trigger has given them wrong information. Which is it? Other on another thread on here others have raised the question regarding Bech riding at Glasgow. There has not been any comment on the official website, which is the only place I look for any information. Oh, and by the way, I have contacted the management by letter, but have yet to receive any acknowledgement whatsoever.

Well whatever he does EL next year it will test his honesty as he already has informed Swindon some time back that when it comes to Elite Swindon will get first refusal...not sure wether Plymouth declaring him an asset has any bearing but if it's down to him personally having spoken to him on a number of occasions i would trust his word....hope so ...double up on a smaller circuit like Plymouth and a larger one like Swindon will do him good...no point going to Poole when all will happen is his he will have one good season there then become discarded due to his average being too awkward!!

Ha ha, testing HIS honesty??????? Will Swindon be able to afford him? Both signing on fees and paying his wages regularly and on time? :P

i hope in your letter you have thanked the promotion and manager for saving plymouth speedway and in doing so making it a team people now take seriously and a club that other promotions respect instead of the complete circus it was with the previous promotion, riders not being paid,no supporters club a team with 3 sometimes 4 riders which were only reserve standard aswell as the off track panto which was regularly present or where you part of it i wonder,it seems someone really wants the club to fail particularly with the vandalism cutting cables, smashing lights slashing banners that took place last night at the sba, funny how you werent so opinionated in previous seasons and now things are on the up all you are interested in is trying to undermine the positivity surrounding the club you without doubt have an agenda! as for your letter i would imagine the club will treat it with the contempt it undoubtably deserves, please keep posting your drivel as it only reinforces everything i have written i am sure somerset would be glad of your support because plymouth sure as hell dont want it so do us all a favour and take a hike,i,m being polite because i would like to use another phrase but dont want to get banned!!

So Lewy, can you provide the link to the discussions regarding signing Mikkel? Any further mention of me being involved with the former promotion or any thing to do with the incidents from last night will result in legal action. You are 100% out of order. All I have done is outline my concerns regarding certain riders and presenters. I raised concerns early on about Kling and Schramm. So who was right? Both have since moved on, and the management even acknowledged they had been looking for replacements for a while before. So they were obviously thinking the same as I was! Ask those that were at Leicester early in the season,They were all for getting rid of Trigger for his inept display that night, and a few since. I have watched racing at every possible level and watched 1000's of meetings all over the World. Without any doubts at all, the meeting presentations at the SBA are the worst I have come across. Baxendale is clueless. I like the idea of the riders coming to the start line, without their helmets on. However,as they leave the pits, the riders should be introduced individually instead of ''here come Witches' or whoever. Then a little of each riders background instead of 'No1 Ben Barker', No2 ... and so on. The presenter is there to keep us all up to date with latest results from around the country, when and where the Devils riders have been since the last meeting, etc. So what does Baxendale do? Hang over the fence to shout at his mates in the crowd and lark around on the centre green. It makes the club look very amateurish. For all the good work behind the scenes, his actions undo a lot of it.The whole show falls flat because he doesn't know how to present. Oh, and why should I go to another track when I live within 0.5 mile of the the SBA? I DO want the best for Plymouth Speedway, These are my opinions, you don't like them? Fair enough, Im not that bothered to be honest. Put me on your ignore list and you wont have to make spurious comments like you have here. If the management do not want to reply to my comments, made in very good faith, then fair enough, that's their prerogative. I DO NOT have any agenda as others have said, I only want the best for the club, however there is room for improvement

Have to say I totally agree with these observations. He is doing the club no favours at all and there are many others on the terraces saying the same. He showed how unprofessional he was at last nights meeting. He has obviously been upset by some of Opinionated's remarks as during the meeting he walked towards the third and fourth bends and said over the tannoy "welcome to the S.B.A Opinionated"!! I doubt many of the fans knew what he was talking about, but having read this thread myself I think its fairly obvious what he was trying to do. Anyone that puts themself in the public eye must be able to handle any criticism in a professional manner. He is obviously not capable of doing this.

Len Silver has the same problem. Went bleating to the local rag naming myself and one or two others for some things he'd read on Twitter. Some of what he said was a load of rubbish and inaccurate (I'll stop at saying lies). The rag wouldn't even give me the right to reply. Not the way to treat someone who's spent thousands of their hard earned and travelled thousands of miles following the team home and away for over 25 years

Hi guys. Here you loud and clear. I always welcome supporters to the track by name. ie Formerlion. At least 5 current and new get a shout. Pressure? No mate. Thats for riders and managers. I read the forums and take on board what is said. Some good ideas from oponiated however I don't want to repeat what is written in programmes or speedway star.

Bechs talents are not in question, but his missing meetings do Plymouth no good atall,it seems that the Plymouth are intent on making him an asset, which will be a real coup for them as I cant see Bech being with the Devils next season.

Aslong as he does his 8 meetings I doubt the PLymouth promotion are bothered. He's going to be worth alot of £ to them in the future!

If all you can moan about is the bloke on the mic, then give it a rest, if he is so bad why are you the only one moaning about him, the lads I stand with on bend two think he is funny, and that's the way we look at it, now if you want to be constructive then please do, anyone with the guts to take over from that joker who ran the club before deserves my respect, yes it needs improving, but you are not interested in the things the cub have got right, just the little things they get wrong, maybe because you are a little man, in your little world.

Mike you keep doing what you are doing, you have are support on bend two, just keep being funny, I know your not trying to be funny, but take it from me, YOU ARE.

I don't know anyone around where I stand agree with your comment about him doing the club no favours, this is your opinion, not a fact.

The presenter is the glue that holds the meeting together.

Mike is very lacking in what to say and when, too many pregnant pauses.

When nothing is happening on the track, he should be infilling with other information.

Have a plan, For instance…. between Hts 4-5,slot in supporters club news,

Between Hts 7-8 where the other Devils have been riding. Like where Bech has been riding and how many he scored, did he beat any top names? Any guest appearances for the Devils?

Also have something ready for when a rider has’ 2 rides on the trot’. Plug the gap. The list is endless. Im not a fan of tractor racing, keep me informed.

Generally,I do agree with a lot of what Opinionated has to say. Maybe a lot of you don’t like to be told ‘how it is’ or perceived by others. Im not sure how or why some of you compare things to when Bowden was in charge. He was never a presenter. He was funny, but in a sad way.

However, Mike is listed as meeting presenter in the programme, therefore has a distinct responsibility to keep things moving and interesting. Making a silly video does nothing to enhance the image the current Promoters are trying to reinforce.

Something I didn’t like on Saturday was the ‘welcome to Opinionated’. That’s was 100% sarcasm. Also no need to leave the centre green and stride round the 3rd-4th turns seemingly looking for him. That was well out of order.

Mike, have you been to other tracks? Take notes on what they say and do. The former Exeter presenter Nigel Thomas works at Somerset. Hes a good example of a ‘good presenter’.

You come across as someone who has a limited knowledge of the sport. Do some research, find some interesting facts and figures, mention the sponsors, (list them and make sure they ALL get a plug) Forget chatting to friends over the safety fence and concentrate on making the evening run smoothly. After all, too many meetings have dragged on this season with delays of one sort or another.
