Pirate Nick
Had just gone round the outside of Ashley Birks, and the bike literally swung round too far on him and he came down pretty awkwardly on his back/neck area. Didn't hear any news given as to what the outcome/latest was on him but think he was taken away as a precaution more than anything - here's hoping. Not the way I recall - he went out to the fence (probably too wide) and had to go outside Birks before cutting back to the inside to squeeze Klindt right up against the fence. Comical that you can say Klindt was never close enough, if he didn't back the throttle off down the homestraight he would of been on top of Hougaard's bike where he slammed the door on him. Had a text this morning, Kyle is fine, a bit of whiplash and some stitches under his chin, will need a couple of days rest but will be ok for next Friday.
Najjer
Had a text this morning, Kyle is fine, a bit of whiplash and some stitches under his chin, will need a couple of days rest but will be ok for next Friday. That's great news - wasn't exactly high speed by the time he had locked up but he certainly took a very awkward landing and could of been alot worse. idh
Great news on Kyle. Was stood alongside the accident; Birks looked over his shoulder saw him and closed the gap. lot of unhappy people on the back strait.

Complete garbage. Kyle was past Ash when he fell - we saw stood on the third bend and it happened right in front of us. Glad to hear Kyle is largely OK - that was a nasty tumble. oldtimer
Good news Kyle is Ok. A large holiday crowd and it was a unfortunate that due to Kyle's crash there was a 45 minute delay, as some people left the stadium and missed Hougaards brilliant last two rides. Track well watered and little dust before Kyle's accident, however during the stoppage, for some unknown reason, the two tractors decided to go round and round for half an hour which made it dusty when racing resumed. Stefan impressive on his comeback and worth more than the 5 points he scored, Nick seemed to struggle for his points and obviously The Oak Tree not one of his best tracks. As for Hougaard, well all I can say is, he made Jason Doyle look boring! Edited July 27, 2013 by oldtimer
Cliffeboy
Well done Hougaard I take my hat off to you. Jason Doyle boring............wash your mouth out with soapy water.

All the best Rob im as biased as you here rob, ash left kyle no room to race (strangely kyle got exc last week against glasgow after passing, not touching, joe ringwood up the inside coming out of 2, ref saying he didnt leave joe any room to race), after looking over and squeezing him up, then ash had to turn himself making it look like kyle was in front but he had to get off at that point. thanks to all the messages asking how kyle is, have to say medics were ott, keeping kyle strapped down, as kyle wanted to get up and told me to get spare bike running in case he got ht15 Edited July 27, 2013 by KN1

I'm still not sure if Ash did anything different to Alex Davies in Heat 5, when Thomas Jorgensen was trying the outside, but had to get off the gas at one point after being squeezed. It does tight around that third bend, because the racing line is so close to the fence. I recall the TV match also containing a few incidents there. By far the most important thing is Kyle is OK - that's great news. Last year when I was team manager for a Swindon v Oxford second half, Kyle was there helping out Brendan Johnson and also came to the rescue once Ross Walter hit a few mechanical problems. He's a top lad and it's fantastic he's alright. All the best Rob Edited July 27, 2013 by lucifer sam

All the best Rob I was standing no more than 10 yards from yourself Rob, and Kyle was fractionally ahead when Ash tried to squeeze him - too late for Kyle to shut off. Nothing malicious, but Ash should have been excluded in my opinion. He's certainly a determined, feisty little racer, which is more than can be said of Howe nowadays on last night's evidence - easily brushed aside by younger, hungrier rivals - sad to see. As said elsewhere, Hougaard was sheer class. Took one ride to size up the track, then unstoppable. Heat 13 was worth the admission alone! Best I've seen at the OTA since Zorro. Not sure if his average will allow it come the end of the season, but would make a top PL no.1 next year!
proud panther
Really enjoyed my first visit to Somerset, although the journey took me 6 hours due to M5 being blocked & my diversion causing me to do 2 miles in 90 minutes! Very good news that Kyle is ok. My opinion was he had a little too much speed going into the bend, & couldn't get round. Wouldnt blame Birks, & the same goes for the Morris incident. Shame the crash caused such a long delay, although I did manage to occupy my time in the very impressive clubhouse! Will definitely get back there next year as the racing was very good. Catalan
Believe the delay was from an overly zealous paramedic, especially when the rider wants to get up.

Catalan
Most riders know there own body. Can normally tell if they require further attention.
lucifer sam
Sugaray.Sorry don't agree.Riders are not allways right.Better to be certain than sorry. Especially when it's an injury around either the neck/back area. You really can't be careful enough. I don't mind waiting when the delay is due to an injury- I'd rather know that the rider is 100% alright. Speedway riders is a breed apart, but sometimes they want to get charging up on their feet when that's not the best thing to do.
