Berwick V Glasgow Tigers (27 July - Pl)

Recommended Posts

After North has gone west and if he arrives in the east I think Berwick's chances may go south.

Tiggers by a point.

Taxi for Scotland 1314 ;)

it's a cup game played to a finish so extratime and penalties could come into play

Tigers to win on penalties after extra time.

well done bandits for that 53-42 victory but mr ref you missed at least 4 bad starts and every time it was the same rider not sitting still at the start so MR HENNING BAGER please sit still at the starts

Nah, he's not rolling! He's stretching his legs LOL

Hey partner, you know what time it is - Rollin, Rollin, Rollin :-)

Great result for the boys against a strong Glasgow outfit. Hopefully this can spur the Bandits on for a strong finnish to the season.

Firstly well done to the tigers on reaching 40 away from home as it's an improvement!

Now onto this post how can a side be strong that 1.) is bottom of the league and 2.) have not won a match for over 2 months!?!?!?

Can you please explain that one?

Or was it supposed to be a joke which to me doesn't look like one

Berwick are hardly any great shakes themselves, particularly at home. We had our no1 still looking for match fitness so in the circumstances I think its a good result.

Enjoyed myself at Berwick as usual . Possibly not a great meeting from an entertainment perspective as it was mostly gate and go , but anytime we score more than 40 away from home is a bonus .

Much as expected from our point of view . Screen looked good when he gated , not so good when he didn't . Henning was our best performer , never giving up all the way to the line in all his races . James was poor by his standards , Jacobs was ok , but Ringwood and Compton didn't bring a lot to the party . Special mention for young Anders though , all these tracks are new to him and Shielfield looked an insurmountable challenge for him in his first three races , but in his last heat he pulled off a great pass on the impressive Bandits guest reserve , Adam Ellis , and chased Bandits' best rider on the night , Matthew Wethers , all the way to the line .

Wethers and Bellego were very good for the home team , and had strong backing from Smith , Ellis and Aspegren . Starke was very poor and Ashworth looks a shadow of the rider we know he is . Whether it's a fitness issue , and that would be understandable , or mechanical - i don't know , but that wasn't the real Ricky Ashworth last night .

I have to applaud my fellow Tigers fans though , it's not easy when your side is struggling at the bottom of the league and to see so many there last night was fantastic . And , of course , we were made very welcome by the home fans . There's a great affinity between the Tigers and Bandits fans these days , maybe it's because we have a common enemy - possibly , but whatever the reason , long may it continue to blossom .

Fully agree about atmosphere last night. Friendly and fun, as alluded to in Dick's programme column, telling of days gone by when "both clubs had no title pressures, and everyone could go home happy and entertained".

A night out at speedway like it used to be!

Wonder if Berwick can nip in to offer the opportunity of riding on a track which given time looks as though it would suit him sure David could point in the right direction

North not in Tigers until Sun 28 July

Job done, what was that shout out about a dirty weekend?

Do we really need to know this?

Wethers, smith and bellego classy.

Any win is a good result folks. Not there but fair play to Glasgow who seemed to make a match of it. I saw them at Somerset 10 days ago and they did well there too.

Bellego, wethers and captain kozza back for 2014.. the rest the jury is out for me

. If David & Kozza both have ambitions to race on the continent next year it's doubtful if we'll see both back at Berwick next season

Perhaps you would care to explain why you have chosen to use the word 'enemy'. It's strong and antagonistic in a sport where, historically, supporters of different teams are famed for getting along. .

:) i agree, I think it's the football mentality being brought into speedway by this particular poster. Speedway is a friendly sport and doesn't need yobs like this. These type of posts can inflame violence and repercussions on the terraces of our beloved sport.... Sort it out paulco, before it's too late :)
