Swc Perfect Rules - Any Ideas?

Recommended Posts

The World Cup began brightly in the early 2000s when most countries took pride in racing in it. However, recent times have shown that a little gloss has worn off the competition and will continue to do so. Perhaps there are too many countries padding the week out, some with no chance whatsoever (and seeded to the Final as well) of even puting on a show. Perhaps best bet is to have it over the weekend, two semis and a Final, at the same venue.

Hello

after watching Manzares 'engine failure' last night decided to do some quick maths.

We all agree joker and tactical subs should be there only to keep meetings alive not to decide medals or titles.

What would be perfect rules for you guys?

I love decision that heats 17-20 are nominated, with leading team picking last. That was correct change IMO.

But as proved yesterday any double pts joker used by replacing one rider with the other can make big points swing. Manzares dropped one point but Hancock gained 6. Wells from gate one was of course able to pick up some point but against solid Tai, Podzuks and Doyle I would rather say he would have scored 0.

It means -1+6 from US perspective and -1 from perspective of all 3 other teams.

Final score was 36-31-29-28 instead of 37-26-30-29. It is simple then. If it was the final, USA silver with joker, 4th place without it.

Which rules would you like:

1) no joker, no tactical subs at all, best 4 man team on track wins

2) only tactial subs allowed when 6 behind

3) joker allowed BUT only rider who is already in heat lineup (in this case Wells in heat 16)

4) joker allowed when 10 behind and tactical subs when 6 behind

5) EVERY team can play joker once a meeting, any time they want in heats 1-16 with no tactical subs allowed

So many possibilities, no perfect solution for sure but almost all more FAIR than current situation.

What do you guys think?

4 man teams (1 reserve available in case of injury on doctors decision)

20 heats

Last 4 heats,4 lowest scorers in heat 17 up to highest scorers in heat 20,(no rubics cubes,no putting star riders in weak heats or off best gates simply riders of equal ability racing each other.

Double point joker at 10 behind

Tactical substitute at 6 behind

If the need to seed the hosts then race off only

Number 1. No Joker, no tactical subs, but each team should have a reserve in case a rider is injured otherwise you end up with 3 man races, or less if there is a pile up early. No team seeded straight to the final, but top two in race off go through as it used to be.

WHISPERS of having race-off and final on same day...

Aah... my initial thought is that this impacts on those teams that make it through the race-off. Would that give them time to repair bikes, riders to rest up to come fresh again for the final. Call up a nw rider if one is injured in the race-off.

Might be better for the fans, but not sure it works in a practical sense. Maybe race-off Friday, Final Saturday is better and fairer?

The obvious issue would be where the Australians (and possibly the USA if they were involved) would ride their home matches...

i did give my suggestion for that above also, though said hose rather than host. would either have to be timed around a gp in that country if this made it viable, otherwise prob held in UK (poole the obvious "home" track for aussie for example)
