Bryn
I wouldn't go by that line up shown by that update from eleven days ago - for starters Brendan Johnson won't be riding as he's injured.

waco
Of course this is only a challenge match ,,these are much derided by speedway fans in general ..But having matches every week is giving these riders valuable track time and is one of the big advantages of riding for the Kent Kings ... Many riders in other national league clubs are probably wishing their clubs were doing the same .. Fan numbers are holding up pretty well and im sure they will continue for all meetings and even improve if the team starts to win a few matches ...Not knowing the full line up of the Scunthorpe team ,,it is hard to predict how this one will go.. But in Lewis Blackbird and Paul Stark they have 2 riders on top form ,,so some good racing in prospect tonight at 6 -30 pm

But I think it still gives an indication of their attitude to the match - that they are taking it seriously. And that's the important factor. Guest
An 11 point score by David Mason in what is, despite abandonment of meeting because of curfew (start of meeting was delayed), technically a first "victory" for Kings 45 Scunthorpe 33. waco
David Mason returned with a vengance tonight top scoring with 11 and looking the quickest i have seen him round here ..Steve Boxalls gating was not at his best and the ultra slick track made passing almost impossible (It definately needs more shale on it,,) Ben Morley made 3 electric starts to defeat the impressive Lewis Blackbird and twice prevailing over Paul Stark who also was impressive holding off Steve Boxall in heat 6... one forcefull ride from Connor Coles saw him win heat 8... And Adam Kirby continues to improve with a solid performance and strong first bend passes ,,only needs to improve his gating ...Jack Kingston had a couple of falls and continues to struggle with the track conditions here... Benji Compton was out gated all night and this was reflected in his score... The Paramedic turned up three quarters of an hour late which caused the curfew to end the meeting after heat 13 ,,These people are well paid and in my opinion it is just not good enough,, Spoiled the night for me ,and i suspect many others ...Still with the inclusion of Mason i can see further victorys at least at home... cityrebel
well last night was always going to happen wasn't it. with such a strict curfew in place any sort of delay was going to lead to a struggle to complete the meeting. last week was a close call with all the traffic problems on the local roads. with a decent crowd inside the stadium it would have been a logistical nightmare trying to issue people with imaginary readmission tickets if the match never got started. the ambulance fiasco at rye house last month, last weeks fours marathon at peterborough and last nights events, are even making a speedway die hard like me question my sanity in following this once great sport of ours.
blueherb777
Got to say not impressed at all with the situation of the Paramedic not turning up,not contacting anyone (apparently)and all the riders, supporters waiting 50 minutes or so to start in temperatures over 30 degrees and feeling like a jungle. And to make matters worse trying to rush through the meeting,no track maintenance, but worse still being TOTALLY unfair on the riders. And to cap it all I was near the pits and watching poor Shane Hazalden collapse with Heat exhaustion after his 5th ride.
westhamboy66
Both City Rebel and Aj is king stole my thunder. Having left after one heat following the Amblulance debacle at Rye House the other week i thought this was just as bad. Two hour window for speeday at Kent and to lose forty five minutes or so was always going to end in tears. What really annoys me is how we are taken for granted, this meeting was curtailed and i lost two heats, not due to the unforseen circumstances like a storm or several crashes but the inability of the Promoter to meet the minimum requirements to run a speedway meeting. We are taken for granted and is there any wonder that crowds are dwindling. I have supported Len Silver Promoted clubs since the early sixties and really believe time is catching up with him and i'm not sure comitting to running two track is helping Kent and has certainly had a detrimental effect on my club Rye House
New Cross Ranger
Encouraged by the score but would've been royally pi**ed off if I had attended as planned and then seen the meeting curtailed even if it was by only a couple of heats. It sounds as if from previous posts the whole event was rushed through with little or no track grading all because of the curfew and the lateness of the paramedic which can't be right. Of course speedway meets get called off from time to time through 'acts of God' but to have a meet curtailed because a someone can't get there on time just stinks of amateurism and it's not as if the promoter hasn't been around the block a time or two so maybe he should seriously consider guarding against this kind of thing in the future. For an outfit trying to build a fanbase and attract fresh support this is no way to carry on. Hoping to get to the next meet all being well, looking forward to watching Mason & Boxall together. Up the Kings!

I reckon we live in the wrong part of the country.. the South East is rapidly turning into a no go area..when i retire i can see me having to travel at my own expense to find a meeting without fear of it being off, curtailed or being raced on a poor surface. cityrebel
there was a really good crowd there last night, no doubt boosted by the school holidays. it was such a shame that the whole event turned out to be a PR disaster. i just hope it is a wake up call to everyone officially connected with the club. I have supported Len Silver Promoted clubs since the early sixties and really believe time is catching up with him and i'm not sure comitting to running two track is helping Kent and has certainly had a detrimental effect on my club Rye House I have said before that badly run tracks are having a drip-feed negative effect on the overall product that is British Speedway. The negativity being generated is bad for all promoters and the sooner some promoters are brought to book to meet minimum requirements the better. Licenses should be suspended when minimum standards are not being met. Apologies no longer wash it. There is a maximum age for referees to officiate and it is high time the same applies to Promoters.
