NeilWatson
PLYMOUTH’S team problems continue with new signing Seb Alden announcing that he has quit British speedway on the eve of his debut for the Devils. Alden was set to join the Devils as a replacement for Ty Proctor, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a neck injury. The Swedish star was due to ride for Plymouth in their Premier League match at home to Workington on Friday evening (July 19). However, he contacted Devils team manager Lee Trigger on Thursday with the news that would not be available and Plymouth moved swiftly to bring in Ipswich rider Leigh Lanham as a guest replacement at number one for the Workington fixture. Trigger issued a statement on Friday morning saying: “I am disappointed to announce that Seb Alden informed me yesterday that he had decided to quit British speedway with immediate effect due to personal reasons. “He was very apologetic but feels he cannot carry on in the UK any longer. “This leaves Plymouth back to where we started with Ty Proctor listed as number one. I will continue to search for suitable riders to strengthen our team as I always have done but, as you might imagine, it is not the easiest of tasks. “I have had very little time to sort out a full team this week and I have been heavily hampered also with very limited riders available to guest. I am also forced to use the dreaded rider replacement facility. I’m sure none of the supporters are a fan of this, along with myself, but I must abide by the rules. “I do my very best for the club and always try to use the best available guests. “As team manager, I have the very best interests of the club and supporters at heart and I will continue to push for my pre-season target of reaching the play-offs. “It will be a very tough job now but with a little bit of good fortune and the full backing of the vociferous St Boniface Arena crowd we will give it our very best shot.” Edited July 19, 2013 by NeilWatson

Lord Lucan
Very good away win for the Comets this after the disappointment in the fours, think it's definitely showing where our priorities lie this season!! Looks like solid scoring throughout tonight so well done to one and all, keeps the points ticking over which it needs to be as I've noticed a few teams starting to get into stride now and are certainly putting the pressure on? Looking forward to seeing this Mikkel Bech up here next week, a rider who certainly sounds entertaining and I'm hoping will show well round DP? squibby
Seb Alden quitting British speedway. Now where have I heard that before ??!!! Very disappointing. He will always be a hero of mine thanks to his 17+1 paid max at Newport as a last-minute guest for Exeter Falcons in their last season, enabling us to sneak a 46-44 victory, our last ever away win, but he does have form in the quitting the UK department.
