I am not Middleditch fan but to be fair he has no tools to play with, why not ? Because the EL clubs (his more than most) do naff all to help British riders and this will mean we will struggle for years, its been coming but nothing is done

I know many will say its about their clubs and therefore don't care but then why come on and complain when the National team struggle. Can't have it both ways

I see tonight both Swindon and Peterborough official Twitter accounts posting praising their riders for their contribution in the meeting tonight. Sadly they are celebrating the fact this put Team GB out of the competition. Maybe this sums up British Speedway when BRITISH clubs are more interested in their Australian and US riders than the fact hat GB has gone out of the competition.

You would hope British fans would want to see the overseas riders in their clubs fail miserably in the World Team Cup

Have I got that wrong ?

Barker should not have been anywhere near Prague tonight. The bloke is a throttle jockey, something that is never going to work at Prague. Personally I wouldn't have selected Bridger either but can't fault his effort or application.

Mistakes made selecting Kennett in the first place, Danny King conpletely overlooked.

Are you suggesting you think the GB management made the best use of their limited resources. I assume you concur that they were tactically inept?

Rico

Surprised it took until now for this thread to start. Middlo is in a no win situation and its a poisoned challis of a job because with the riders available to him he is never going to have success. You could put anyone in charge but the result would be the same. Team GB have no riders other than Woffinden. The rest are no where near good enough and even Latvia have 4 riders capable of scoring more. Not Middlos fault. Or Phil Morris. Just the fault of the fact that no riders are brought through the system. Make it compulsive that all EL teams must have 2 British reserves and we might see some talent in a few years.

each to their own, but cook and kennett were abysmal on Monday and to keep them in would have been daft IMO....

Time for muddlo to go now surely ?

You really are having a larf. Save for Tai's last and Bombers kill switch coming loose which it shouldn't everybody did what was asked of them. And don't tell me Cook and Worrell or Kennett would have done better than Barker and Bridger, because they wouldn't.

Bridger should have scored more for lack of experience, and rode properly without any showboating, and Barker forfieted 2 points to help the team tacticallty.

Just what the hell do you want. We are devoid strength in depth and for some reason speed on these big tracks. But unless you have several thousands of pounds to send the lesserlight boys engines to one of the big tuners, no names no pacdrill, because those boys do not have that sort of money. Your sort are really never satified.

Oh, and as for Neil chucking the job, that won't happen...

What get beat by the USA ? he picked the wrong team and made a complete mess up of the tactics ...the others teams were weak tonight and a final place what up for grabs but not only have we not won we have come last to third world nations ...Middlo was total crap as normal

so picking kennett when the whole speedway community knew it was wrong. dropping Cook. picking barker when its known that he isn't that well liked. putting Tai in on a joker against hancock who was flying and replacing our second best rider! team moral was shocking the buck stops with middlo and the bspa. team should have been tai, bomber, nicholls and king. stop giving the crap excuse nobody could do better it doesn't wash. yes we don't have a pool of riders that will do great but if that's the case then why do crap football teams sack their managers? they aren't going to become Man Utd overnight and the players don't change but usually a change of manager in a football team sees new moral and an upturn in fortune. we are stale under middlo, let him go back to poole where he only has aussies and poles to worry about. we need change to inject a boost into this country

Scott didn't want to ride Gav, and that had nothing to do with Middlo.

i've posted similatly on the race off thread but:

Middlo probably made some wrong selectoral decisions - most on here wouldn't have picked kennet at KL, and perhaps ould have picked cook/king over bridger/barker - but no guarantee that that would ahve resulted in a better result, as there is not much (in my opinion) between those riders at this point in time.

i don't think he is great tactically BUT dobn't think he did anything wrong in his use of tac subs and joker, and for people to say his tactics were aful is off the mark in my view.

i think he should be replaced, but don't think he is to blame for the result tonight.

Kennett was worse than abysmal. Cook I would suggest let himself down. Anyone who has seen him ride this season would wonder if it was the same rider.

Middlo says before the meeting tonight "The world cup is an event where you have to field your best side. Now hopefully I've got the best side here".

To me that is him saying I made a mess of Monday (I failed) now I am rolling the dice again (failed by bad selection / tactics).

Resign

Do you really need someone tell you why the USA are weak ? we did not just got beat we came 4th to third world nations in speedway ...no point going on about lack of depth and engine tuners etc etc as the teams that beat us are worst off on all fronts to us .Middlo also made complete mess of the tac ride as well everyone bar you saw that as well as getting the team wrong both times . putting Tai in on a joker against hancock who was flying and replacing our second best rider!

so when would you have used the joker then? there are three options:

1. heat 15, which would have meant instructing harris in heat 14 to finish behind woodward, which kinda defeats the purpose of not replacing your second best rider dpoesn't it?

2. or heat 16, when he would ahve been up against hancock anyway, and would have meant him not having an extra ride?

3. or would you have harris for the joker in 14, meaning our strongest rider wouldnt have had a joker ride.

which of these options did those criticising middlos use of the tac joker in heat 14 think was best?

(and obviously with hindsight you can argue for option a, but how many actually though that at the time?)

and i am NOT a Poole fan
