WaitingfortheMeninBlack
Diamonds were great tonight, Richie didn't touch Vissing on 3rd bend when excluded in ht13, went under him hard but no contact, but impossible for referee to see from his position. Hope Tabaka is OK after his off avoiding Fricke, "Rubber man" according to Monarchs fan next to me?
The White Knight
Terrific win for the 'Diamonds' this evening - helps to atone for our defeat in the Cup. Â Hopefully we can sort out those 'Rebels' from Somerset on Sunday too.
cyclone
When I had predicted a comfortable win for the Diamonds before the match and that Lindgren was no mug round Armadale, some Newcastle posters were highly sceptical. Â Although I am a Monarchs fan, it was obvious from the KO Cup encounter that the Diamonds were superior from the gate and round the first two bends, and given the current state of the track surface, a more emphatic home defeat was on the cards as r/r for Henry, plus Schramm for Steve Worrall, would yield even more points for the visitors. Â The best team on the night won, and given we had a 6 point t/r, and Robson & Tully failed to finish when on 5 -1s, the final scoreline flattered the Monarchs. Â I still believe Newcastle have the best 1 - 7 in the PL and are now actually stronger using r/r for the unfortunately absent Christian Henry. Â Barring unforeseen catastrophes, Diamonds should win the PL Championship Play-Offs for this Season. Â As a general observation, more of the teams in the mix for the six Play-Off places seem to be performing better on their travels than at home, this Season. Arson fire
If robbo average drop a little, which it ought to given only a few points at Leicester and Edinbugh, Henry could go to 2nd in the averages meaning all could take a rr ride.... If he's out any length of time we need to replace him IMO or at least carry a number 8.
SCOTLAND1314
As many have said no excuses for Edinburgh Monarchs last night. Completely out-trapped by Newcastle.  However every cloud etc.  I thought young Max performed well last night even allowing for his heat 14 lock up.  I hope the news about Joe's resulting fall isn't as bad as feared.  Bad day at the office for The Monarchs but these things happen.  We move on and hopefully come back better.  Courtesy of Edinburgh Monarchs speedway  http://www.edinburghmonarchs.co/news/article.asp?id=1399
NJC71
Â I still believe Newcastle have the best 1 - 7 in the PL and are now actually stronger using r/r for the unfortunately absent Christian Henry. Â Â I can understand why you'd think r/r makes us stronger at at track like Armadale where Henry doesn't have a great record but it certainly won't at Brough where other than Richie he is our most consistent performer. Â I'm a little concerned it will make us vulnerable at Brough where of course Ipswich & Edinburgh have already collected results this season, particularly if one of others has an off night. Immediate test of that when Somerset arrive tomorrow and another next week with the Monarchs in town. Edited July 20, 2013 by NJC71
Paulco
Interesting new concept in track maintainance last night . Track foaming , water truck goes round and covers the track in bubbles . Didn't help the champions elect gate any better though .
Lioness
so they really were in soapy bubble Paul?
Bryn
Ever since reading Paulco's post above, I can't get this picture out of my mind of that infamous duo of Mike Hunter and Norrie the proggieman warbling "I'm forever blowing bubbles, pretty bubbles in the air....!!!" Mr Blobby
thank god i was working last night and didn't have to witness what sounded like a poor meeting and a poor performance by the boys in blue & gold. Â By the sounds of it we were out gated in basically every race again by the diamonds which was crucial the last time as well. Â Well done to the Diamonds though on their victory (that took a lot of guts to type that) but hopefully we can repay the favour next week. tyretrax
Interesting new concept in track maintainance last night . Track foaming , water truck goes round and covers the track in bubbles . Didn't help the champions elect gate any better though . Â Adding washing up liquid to the water breaks surface tension of the shale, allowing the water to penetrate quicker. I think it's a trick used Downunder.

Young51
Putting my Blue & Gold allegiances aside for a moment (unlike some i can ) this was an awful meeting, devoid of overtaking & entertainment sadly I kept on waiting for a rider in blue & gold to come out the second bend in front and i waited..and waited.I've heard rumours about some bother in the Monarchs track prep staff in the past few weeks and i can only hope this is sorted as defeat is one thing (it happens) but lack of entertainment and a gate & go festival is another. Our club appears to have turned the corner in many ways this year, but this is worrying tbh.. Anyhoo.. congrats to the fast gating Newcastle Diamonds on their well deserved win,and if this doesnt give the Monarchs boys a boot up their khybers nothing will.Diamonds looked more at ease at the Dale than the home boys and thats not a thing we're used to watching..a strange night all round really.I must say that R/R signing for the Diamonds looks a sh!t hot prospect by the way!! i do have confidence that the Monarchs will bounce back from this setback as we have done countless times this season. The PL seems to have gone a bit crazy this year with virtually no ones home track being a fortress (Glasgow Tiggers being an exception as this hasnt been the case for a couple of seasons now ) That one was for our gloating West Coast cousins who've sprung out of the woodwork btw Oh by the way Mr Paulco while i'm here.. we have already won a trophy despite our 'gating like that' y'know! Ah well onwards & upwards Edited July 20, 2013 by Young51

Ah well onwards & upwards Yes indeed you have , an invitational four team tournament . Actually there was some overtaking last night , well a few close races to the line . Though when an actual overtake did occur , Vissing put the bike down after minimal ( if any ) contact and the overtaker got excluded . Aww a wee touch of the soor plooms there because you didnt get an 'invite' to the party bigman! Apart from Redcar perhaps all the top teams in the Premier league were there so we were well worthy PL fours champs. For the record i think it should go back to the qualifiers for the 4TT as they were fun,but the fans wishes don't seem to count sometimes.. The White Knight
Well..maybe that was a wee understatement.. they did get rid of that awful green helmet colour! Â Yes - and left the Yellow one that looks WHITE under lights. Two white helmets - difficult for an old git like me to distinguish. I've got a GREAT idea - why not try a Yellow/Black helmet cover - that might just help me. :approve:

The White Knight
Which looks like black & white under some lights  Fair comment Abbot - but - one White Helmet and one Black/White helmet would still make identification easier than it is at present.
