Charlieboy
Thanks hoggy for your 2 posts,in reply to your 1st post im sorry but although I would love to turn out tonight and help you out my age is against me mate. After supporting Sheffield home and away for 52 years and witnessing good and bad times it upsets me to see the way it it going down hill in recent seasons. As regards jake thank him for the offer but I may damage the lads bike.I was not having a go at jake but when YOU dropped him he was down on confidence and not scoring points so I could not understand your logic to put him in tonight against a team who have alredy beat us at home when the lad has hardly rode since ? I appreciate it is difficult to replace steady or get guests but as you take our money each week we would all like to be kept upto date even if riders are turning you down.If you follow football coverage about transfers the supporters get excited whether they sign or not.It gets people talking. It creates interest. It is so flat at Sheffield. When your on the centre green tonight take a look around and see for yourself,im not the only one who thinks it.Read on here how many are not going tonight.Sorry if im passionate about my club but ive been following Sheffield longer than you've been involved at the club. Thanks for your second post it was very imformative.Good luck to the team tonight but I think it will be close, hope im wrong,
Halifordukesfan
Wasn't going to bother going tonight, but as sheffield are not riding, there may be some entertaining racing, so I've changed my mind.Mind you, a reduction in admission cost would have been a nice gesture. Halifaxtiger
Now this was a huge improvement on the last post. Posts like this are interesting and helpful to us fans. They allow us to know whats going on and allows us to share your frustration. More of this and less of the, "oh FFS it's the fans again" that we normally get and I think you'd be suprised and how happier the fans would be. Well Done David, an excellent post. Should be more Promoters coming on to explain situations, then maybe supporters may understand situations more or why things happen. Respect great post. Thanks for that Hoggy it really is good to see the menagement coming onto this forum to try to explain their (and our) frustrations. Nice post David Thanks hoggy for your 2 posts, I don't want to say i told you so but.................... Great post, Dave. I was going to say how much such posts are valued but SCB said it better than I could. Absolutely spot on , I couldn't agree more. Sometimes I get the opinion that promotions regard fans as a set of imbeciles, tolerated solely for the money they spend. In actual fact, the overwhelming majority of fans genuinely care about the sport, are concerned about falling gates and income and want it to grow and prosper. In that, the only difference between supporters and promotions is financial involvement. So when we get a honest, fair and reasonable opinion from a member of speedway's management that interfaces with us all and treats us as fellow fanatics it is greatly valued and appreciated. spin king
How did Adam looking? Reading the updates it seeks he was mixing it? Did he look comfortable? He is definitely getting there mate. The lad is amazing when you consider the knocks he has had to cope with and he keeps coming back, if ever a rider deserves some success its Adam.

DAVEK
More of this and less of the, "oh FFS it's the fans again" or nothing at all, like we normally get and I think you'd be suprised and how happier the fans would be. To the Sheffield Management Team..... Following the above is a straightforward solution to the current problem ( well at least part of it anyway). (I had to add the nothing at all bit). Try to explain and involve us (where possible). Sheffield Speedway at the moment seems to be the cities best kept secret (until Thursday). Don't blame the Star. You have a web site , Facebook and Twitter to your disposal. For example, I had to read the Rye House web site today to find out who was replacing Damien on Saturday. Shadders
The Hammer Richie Lawson will bang in a max Not even close Shadders the only Rockets away fan in the stadium Nope! Shadders shaking his head as he enjoys his meat pie chips and gravy!! Sweet chilli chicken wrap and mushy peas... You're not very good at this are you Just home and still buzzing... Waited years for a win at Sheffield, witnessing some terrible humiliations along the way, then get two wins there in one season! Not the Sheffield side of old, but who cares? A win's a win. I'll take that all day, thanks very much Even on the last lap of heat 15 I was still inventing ways we could mess this up, remembering Scunthorpe last Friday, but this time Nelson held the line and his nerve to see off Adam Roynon. In any case Richard Lawson was nowhere near Anders Mellgren, so a 3-3 would've been enough. Sheffield did have some bad luck. Roynon falling when destined for the win in heat 4 and Andre Compton's bike giving up on him when on a 5-1 with Albin. Good to see Nelson banging in the points with a classy performance. Jason Bunyan put in a superb effort for his paid 10. I had him down for heat 15, but Anders put in a decent effort despite looking slower than expected for most of the meeting. Good points from both reserves with at least one win apiece, Kaspers coming with a neat inside pass on the 4th bend after Sarjeant drifted a little wide. Josh Grajzonek and Pontus Aspgren didn't have the best of meetings, but every point counts and theirs were vital. I'll let the Sheffield fans comment on their teams performance, but just to say happy to see Adam Roynon looking like the rider he was before his latest injury. I was tempted by the blackjack tables at Napoleans casino next door after the meeting, but as I was dressed in shorts and sandals and have a 5am alarm for work in the morning thought better of it. Charlieboy
8 race winners and still lost !!! We had all the bad luck going.Lawson fast when gated slow at the back,Compton looked good early but lacked power later on,hally poor to start and then picked it up Roynon was awesome and scarey, sarjeant not rewarded for the effort he put in and facu had a decent performance. The points we dropped cost us big time.Cant see why rye are down at the bottom, theyve looked quite a tidy outfit on both visits.Nelson was top drawer again. westhamboy66
London buses and Rye winning at Sheffield seem to have something in common none for ages then two together, two reasons for Rye House failings this year, Big injuries and a mixture of some poor guest choices and the need to use RR which simply doesn't work with the makeup of our side. Any meaningfull league position is beyond us i think but with a KO Cup semi second leg with us only six points behind all is not lost. As far as Sheffield go it pains me to see such a good club struggling so badly, i hope they turn it around soon, a favourite track of mine and the supporters there deserve better. spin king
First things first Well Done to the Rockets. Last night proved that you are always going to be vulnerable with a Team that consists of 3 Guests and RR, and it has to be said that a few falls and a needless exclusion cost us dearly meant that we were chasing the meeting all night. Comments on the Sheffield team last night. Richie Lawson; Looked good when he gated. Andre Compton; Started well but faded badly as the meeting wwent along. Richard Hall;Disappointing, got himself excluded needlessly in heat 3, and was generally poor. Adam Roynon; Superb, is going to prove to be an excellent signing. To comeback from the type of injuries that the lad has suffered over the years and still compete at this level show extreme gut and determination. Never ever write him off. James Sarjeant; Did well and deserved more points for his efforts. Facu Albin; Started slowly and got better as the meeting progressed. Finally nice to see my old mate Shadders puffing away on his electronic fag with a smile as wide as the River Thames, he was that pleased last night he even went looking for Uncle Len for a victory cuddle. ; . Cue Ball
Anybody know anything further about the handbags between Roynan and Lawson? the former was complaining that the latter cocked his first bend up in heat 13 - but I must confess that I didn't see anything wrong from where I was stood.Things were still rumbling on after the meeting. In view of the heat 13 clash, I was very surprised that we opted to use Lawson and Roynan in heat 15, they were never going to ride as a team and quite frankly Lawson looked like he really couldn't be arsed in the race (he looked good for the rest of the night once he got the setup sorted after heat 1). Well done to Rye House, they got the better of the first few heats and then there wasn't much to call between the teams after that.
Tony The Tiger
Yet another disappointing Thursday at Owlerton, only to turn to anger after the meeting as a certain struggling Richard Hall decided to do get some after meeting practice in on his Longtrack bike. Halifordukesfan
Why no report on Sheffield Star website ?, match reports are usually published the day after, even if Hoggy claims they take one and a half days to get copy into the star.
