Hoggy
Why no report on Sheffield Star website ?, match reports are usually published the day after, even if Hoggy claims they take one and a half days to get copy into the star. Match reports have predetermined reserved space regardless of other sporting action and are copied and pasted from Josh or Pearson's copy straight in, they are told how many words or paras and this can be submitted until 10pm the night before. The Star notify us on a Tuesday/ Wednesday if they have space for a picture in Friday's edition and they tell us what pic they want then reserve the space no later than Wednesday, Andy Garner usually fires the picture to them by e mail before he leaves the stadium.. Simon's piece has to be with them 2 days prior, match preview Monday for Wednesday and all other copy takes pot luck alongside all other sporting activities. We try to have something ready to go or hold something back for use at short notice in case we get extra space. The page planners and the Sports Editor have been very, very good to us over the years, we have no divine right of coverage and we work closely with them and BBC Radio Sheffield on timings to get the widest possible exposure. Sparky from Sheffield
Andy's photos are sent by about 8.30 to meet their deadlines. He has to edit and email them from the centre green while the racing is going on.
tiger1980
Well two defeats to Home defeats to Rye in the same season, to my mind the worst season for injuries and results since my first tigers season in 1980 when both Wyer and Wilson were sidelined for long periods with broken legs. Tigers finished with the wooden spoon in the old british league, the only silver lining to that season was the arrival of a certain Shawn Moran. Congratulations to Rye who looked up for it and wanted it more, the number of races they were at the starting gate doing their gardening was a credit to them and Uncle Len! AndyK86
Bad season for injuries again and after Rye House doing well on there last visit was expecting similar and they delivered, well done to them but this season pretty much a write off already for us, roll on 2014! Harman
I have copied this from the Sheffield Facebook page, Simon has asked a very good question: Why are we not using our own asset Emiliano Sanchez? Always good for 6 points home and away...unlike some...he never let us down, good club man, would be a good influence on Facundo possibly...make him feel a bit more at home with having a fellow countryman to chat with and apparently he's not heard anything since the end of last season though he's ready to race.
Shale Shaker
I seem to remember many negative comments over the winter when the idea of sanchez returning to the team was mooted. How easily things can change...
Cue Ball
Who would you take out of the team to bring Sanchez in? Haines, who looks to be getting back to his best? Hall, who prior to his shoulder injury was in the form of his life, and arguably post the injury is still knocking in more than 6 or 7 points that Emiliano would get? Wells, solid at home and our best performer away? Facu, who has shown that he can mix it over the last couple of weeks (like he did early in the season, and with decent equipment would clearly improve his average dramatically? Koppe, who has shown what he can trully do over the last few weeks and could prove to be a steal on a 3 point average? Or that other chap, Stead, who although injured means that we can pick and choose guests from pretty much anybody in the league. think its been said elsewhere, but at present, what would be the point in bringing Sanchez into the team? I can't see what improvement he would make. Also, not sure what his circumstances are - I'm sure that I read earlier in the season, or it may have been pre-season, that he had been offered a place at a few different teams but had turned them down for personal reasons. Does he even want to ride??
