noggin
The Robins must be confident tomorrow then. We're quite obviously the underdogs tomorrow, against the runaway leaders...
david2905
Well I did not note any thing obviously untoward.. but If I recollect it correctly Barker frustrated Watt by blocking him off turn 2 after the start. but all looked fair to me! Isn't that called good racing by Barker ? blocking someone attempting a pass is part of the sport. We're quite obviously the underdogs tomorrow, against the runaway leaders... Enjoy the battle for 2nd lads
mikec
There was nothing obviously untowards in heat 15, appears a bit of toy throwing after a bad night at the office to me. Thanks David. Another full points win for the Brummies, & with very winnable trips to P'Boro & Eastie I can only see them eventually finishing top going into the playoffs, closely followed by Swindon & Wolves. Nigel
Isn't that called good racing by Barker ? blocking someone attempting a pass is part of the sport Yep......but I could see no other reason for Watt powering all the way round the turn after the finish flag and diving between the 2 Brummies just before they turned in to the pits ...a bit silly really .but the twitter remarks do infer he was unhappy with Barker. stevebrum
We're quite obviously the underdogs tomorrow, against the runaway leaders... Against an injury ravaged runaway league leaders you mean. Robins should take all 3 points if they want to live up to the pre season favourites billing. Nigel
So disappointed to read insulting remarks from Davey Watt on twitter about Ben Barker. I know hes not everyone's cup of tea, that clearly seems to be the case but resorting to twitter to insult him is unprofessional. Thought Watt was better than that! If someone like Bridger or Ward does it, everyone is in uproar but I suspect that wont be the case with Watt. The BSPA need to act as riders launching attacks on other riders on social media sites is clearly not on. I just hope Barker has the good sense to ignore Watts remarks and not sink to his level,

The Voice Of Reason
Here's an opponents take on last night (sorry, would have posted sooner, but my local in Nuneaton does a decent lock-in ). - Arrived at 7pm only to find promotional people giving out concession tickets like an 18-30's Rep dishes out condoms. To this end, I have to question why the Birmingham promotion even bothered with sending them out in the first place? - Great to see a big crowd taking advantage of the offer - let's hope that Birmingham Speedway get some regulars from the exercise. - Superb track and a professional promotion throughout the meeting. - A meeting that, if nothing else, proved that Double Tacticals and the odd point for an away loss actually benefit the overall outcome. - it was all to play for in Heat 15. - Not having PK is actually like losing two men away from home. - Lewis grow up son......Bjerre may have blocked you for the first lap, but grow a pair and get over it. - Ben Barker - in a similar vein, was the two finger salute to Watty after Heat 15 really necessary? Another little Chav that needs to grow up and act like a mature man. - question to my promotion...........did we really get rid of a young rider like Kim Nillson and replace him with a has-been like Ulamek for any specific reason? Please tell me I'm dreaming. - Yes, we fought back. However, if I'm totally honest, Birmingham were worth all 3 match points. So, there you go. Best of luck Brummies for the rest of the season. I really think (maybe even hope) that it could be your best yet!

MFE
Only one team was really up for this match, and it was Birmingham, Lakeside were not competitive, too many riders were clearly happy with their positions from the gate, to the point where there was only one worthwhile pass in the meeting, and we had to wait for BenBarker in Heat 14 for this excitement. I took a first timer to the meeting who pointed out the racing was over after the first bend, and that the £10 admission was really all it was worth. This iis not a criticism of Birmingham where the track was beautifully prepared, but more a reflection on Elite Speedway generally, where teams are too weak due to averages, resulting with 2 races in One. Feel sorry for the birmingham promotion who are trying to attract new supporters, doubt many newbies will rush back after this showing, and it was no fault of the Brummies, although credit must also be given to Davie Watt, Lewis Bridger and to a lesser extent Kenneth Bjerre for a least trying to be competitive. Dave, well I think your comment shows just how low our expectations have fallen and we are satisfied to accept the mediocre, rarely is a night at the Speedway (anywhere) an exciting event anymore, and it should be, because it is a great sport. Mike.Butler
...racing was good to start with but as track became dusty the outside offered less help and the latter heats were less good.. Overall though a decent atmosphere and i certainly felt it was VFM at a tenner.

Just dont agree with that at all. You say one worthwhile pass and that was in Heat 14, so what about Heat 3 then . You cant say that was a bad race, cracking race with Ulamek, King and Barker. Heat 9, with the Brummies on a 5-1 Davey Watt all over the back of the Brummies. Didn't pass them but was very close with Watt looking like having the pace to come through. Next heat, Lakeside gate with Doyle passing both of Ulamek and Swiderski, Swiderski all over Doyle and eventually passes him. Might not have been a classic but an enjoyable night all for a tenner. Brummiestormer
Must admit the racing wasn't brilliant last night but last week was a brilliant meeting so sometime u duz and sometimes you don't---even the riders in their interviews noted the lack of the usual passing on the outside so i aint gonna lose no sleep over it as we usually have good racing most weeks. Popular Post MFE
As last night was a major PR exercise to attract new fans, could I ask the following As a new fan, how was I to know a Speedway Programme was available, and where was it being sold? I brought me kids with me, they were interested in the Bikes being used, why was there not one on show, to demonstrate the weight and skills that the riders have to show. The kids wanted to see the Riders in the pits, yet there is no view at all, of what is happening there, all secret and private except to the privileged few! Why is half the track restricted view from the main grandstand outside. Why is there no low level racing sound available in the Bar to try to inject some atmosphere through the double glazed units. Has anyone considered a large screen on the bends to replay previous races or meetings during the 1.45 hours spent awaiting races, assuming a meeting is over within 2hours, also this could be used to promote the clubs sponsors. Why was there no meet the riders in the bar after the event? Why was there no first timer meet and greet to explain the rules of Speedway. Just running a meeting and expecting potential supporters to turn up is not enough in my humble opinion.
