Craftman
Kent Kings to Win First Meeting? Have to say this looks a distinct possibility tbh , with Boxall to net a maximum ! Mod Note: Can you remember that meeting threads should have the name of the teams and date as the heading. Thanks (heading altered)

greyhoundp
No, I don't think so, Smartie, Priest, Reade if fit, hughesy if he has a bike, and Payne and Chessell will carry to much fire power for The Kings, now if it were at Central Park, then I would agree, however I wouldnt mind if I was wrong. Craftman
Reade will be RR , Smart has no form other than poor , Hughes has bike issues I think this will be close !

I still have Stoke to win this, all round the better Team, now if you used Michael Neale in there somewhere then there is a possibility, but I don't see your bottom three getting enough points to win this, Boxhall good for 14/15, Morley maybe 10, Compton the same, Kirby maybe 6, still leaves you short, but if say Michael Neale could be used at 6 or 7 then that's completely different. Craftman
Stoke very lucky tonight , time to get rid of Smart or drop him down the team . Again he fails to beat the visitors number one on his home track , very poor !

trophykid
Rather a harsh comment? I don't think so. As a number one you'd expect him to dominate proceeding at Loomer Road. It ain't happening frankly. Not having a go at the lad, just an observation.

Below the belt comment regarding LS .The guys confidence was smashed after a very, very serious accident at Plymouth a few years back.I know for a fact at one point that LS considered giving it all up,as he hadn't got the confidence to get on a motorbike again. vog
As things stand, we have Buxton in the league next Saturday, then no league meeting for 2 weeks, when our averages are due to drop by around 4 points. If we are going to make changes, surely this is the time to make them. Ben Reade is out for the season according to the press release, so we will have a couple of ways we could go. Lee is scoring, just not as a number 1 should be.

Parsloes 1928 nearly
Think of all the hot food takeaways you can see from the top deck of the bus as it wends its way down Streatham High St., gustix... Then think what happens to folk who spend their time frequenting them... You might get the 'joke' then...!!

I don't live there, I never have, and have no intention of doing so. I just worked there for a few years. Yes, I do misunderstand the joke about food in so far as it affects an adverse comment on Lee Smart. It appears he has came back to the sport after serious injury and is now getting flak from some Stoke fans. Aside from myself, another poster has also criticised the tone of the attacks on him. There's no question about the fact that Smart is heavier than he used to be. While his injuries were horrific, at the end of the day the bottom line is about scoring points. Vog (as usual) is right - he's simply not doing that in the manner expected. The reaction of the crowd last night when he was named in heat 15 said what they think about the situation. diamond_ren
Was only joking about the Lee Smart comment! but to be fair hes always been on the rather large side for a speedway rider? maybe if his heads not right hes not putting all his effort, time, fitness into it. didn't mean it nasty though so sorry if its offended anyone. You're entitled to your opinion fella. If a sportsman is in the public domain, then it's fair comment (as long as its not abusive).

Sad to say, but I agree with all the negative comments about Lee - his heart does not seem in it and he is carrying far too much timber, although he seems to have lost a bit since the beginning of the season. Yes he should have a chance to rebuild his career, but he just isn't a number 1 at the moment - if his average is due to be reassessed, then it is worth keeping him, and using the spare plus Ben's to get a new no 1 (if there are any out there), as having Lee in the main team would give us a strong side. As for rest of team Chessell looked good, and was apparently ill, hence not being in heat 15, Priesty had engine problems, Kyle rode well, as did Lee Payne, you could see his confidence returning with each ride - but the meeting should have never been that close as Kent really only had 2 riders (but it has to be said they are fantastic riders - another class altogether). Yes the tac ride made it closer than it should have been (and the heat 15 disqualification odd for a turn 1 fall), but really we were only doing so well because of well placed r/rs. Hopefully with the new averages and a new signing, we will become less erratic - it may make meetings exciting - but it ain't good for the nerves !
