Roger MARTIN
If it was Barker he would have been there.
Shadders
Much better racing than the previous week v Berwick. I thought we were gonna go down to a nasty defeat until the 1-8 in heat 10 put us back into contention. Credit to the track staff who produced a fine surface after such a warm, sunny day. Rockets deserved the point, but could've been more if the reserves had contributed. Kasper looked a different rider from the one who'd guest for Berwick last week. Decent guest in Klindt, who either won with ease, or struggled at the back, but did the business when it mattered. Aspgren looks like he could be a decent temporary signing. The way he fought back against North in heat 13 when he was elbowed out of the way showed guts and determination. Anders was superb, only dropping a point when he went too wide off the tricky outside gate and clipped the fence coming out of bend 2 in heat 12. Jason B was unlucky not to be nominated in heat 15, but in the end the right decision as the Rockets powered to a 5-1 in the final heat at the second time of asking. Nasty looking spill for Gathercole, hope he's ok. Dislocated shoulder was what I heard. Nelson had one of those evenings, started poorly, but finished strong. Lambert was making gates and was on a 5-1 with Jason B in heat 8 before going off line and falling back. Reserve position is still a big worry though. Needs sorting, especially if one or two of the top five are misfiring. Had a nice friendly welcome from the lady on the gate and the Speedway Star seller just inside the entrance. Good banter with Devils fans by the start gate too. Plymouth fans must be amongst the friendliest in the country. Even Neville the Devil came over for a chat, thankfully unharmed after Dick Barrie beat him up last week. Very long drive home for the second week running and 3 hours sleep before work this morning, but it was worth it. montie
From Devils website Mikkel 'B' sustained an injury last evening while racing in Denmark, therefore will not be available for Plymouth tomorrow when they face Rye House Rockets in Premier League action. The Devils will instead use the Rider Replacement facility. Plymouth Co Promoter Ashley Taylor says "Mikkel feels he should be well enough in a few days after some rest and cold baths, he will be back with us next Friday in time for the visit of the Ipswich Witches". I follow the Danish results, and Mikkel B,as far as i can see, wasnt riding in Denmark last week, how did Plymouth get RR???

Here is the article from the Devils website... http://www.plymouthd.../article-1.html Here are the latest Danish speedway results... http://speedwayresul...Speedway League This is the only match I can see that ran on 3rd July... http://speedwayresul...781&season=2013 Can't see his name there, unless he races in Denmark under an alias! The only Mikkel Bech I can find has "Jensen" at the end and he rides for Esbjerg, who haven't had a meeting since June 26th prior to last Friday. Interestingly, Mikkel Bech stared following my Twitter updates during the meeting last Friday!! I had a conversation with Dick Barrie during the Plymouth v Berwick meeting. He told me that a medical certificate has to be produced within 48 hours for a missing rider. I presume if this isn't produced within the required time the rider replacement points are taken away and the match scores amended... Berhaps Mikkel Bech's dad is a doctor? Shadders, he does sort of ride under an alias but int he UK - his name is Mikkel Beck Jensen but like yon Rye House geezer and a few Danes he amends it for his riding to Mikkel Beck He rides in Poland as well and on his Polish teams website there is a wee interview with him that indicates he hurt himself training. Rough translation (very rough!):- On Wednesday, I had an accident during training and now have pain in my back and neck. On Friday I tried just a few laps to see how my body feels before Sunday's meeting (in Poland). On the track, I felt good, but it was difficult to ride as if I was completely healthy - he told us Mikkel B. Jensen Its dated 7th July

I presume medical clearance came through, otherwise we'd have heard something by now. As far as I can see he didn't race in Poland on Sunday either. ps... the Rye House rider is Kasper Lykke Nielsen, but as in MIkkel B's case, he drops the last part and is just known as Kasper Lykke. I'm not sure why they do that. Something in the back of my mind tells me the latter name is from the maternal side, but they don't use it when over here.
