Newcastle Diamonds Vs Sheffield Tigers Lc Semi Final Second Leg 07.07.13 6.30 Pm

Recommended Posts

Well with being Knocked out of the KOC can we make this cup run count? I guess it all comes down to how big a margin we have to either pull back or defend, but Sheffield is not always a happy hunting ground for the Diamonds so here is hoping its the latter. :)

Lets hope we can get back to picking up points away from home befoew this meeting to keep confidence running high.

I hope we get a big crowd as its a week off at home before we face the Somerset Rebels on the 21st

Cant see any further than a Newcastle win over 2 legs.Richard Lawson didn't do too well other week when he guested at Sheffield,Adam roynon making his debut after weeks out with serious injury and hally out of form at present. Can see it being close at owlerton and getting hammered away.Anything else would be a pleasant surprise.

Sheffield can't be any worse than last year..... can they??? Lawson usually does OK now he's got the hang of the place. Haines is usually OK too. Ricky Wells has been indifferent, from memory. Hally has never really liked the place, Albin was awful (!) last time he rode at Brough, Koppe could be anything and Royno had his best meeting he's had round our place last time he was here. Should be an easy home win, but 5+ points win would do! (Don't know why, but my Enter button isn't working on the Forum!!! So I can't break this down into paragraphs like I would normally do!!).

Maybe with the pressure off, we might just put in a decent performance, no one is going to give us a cat in hells chance, you never know.

Wells rides Brough well and is normally good for 9 or 10 points. Haines struggled here when briefly a Diamond although he was just coming back from injury. Lawson can be quality around Brough - if he gates. Hall can ride the place if the outside line is working but I don't remember him having a really good meeting here.

All in all I don't think Sheffield have enough to trouble the Diamonds and certainly don't have a big enough advantage. Hope for some good racing though.

Lawson, Wells and Roynon have all had good meetings at Brough. I remember Wells scoring 12 and a few bonus for Stoke.

I'd expect the others to struggle though apart from one race win from Hall which always manages.

52-38

If Lawson has his gating boots on and Hall/Wells up their game round Brough then Sheff could get a reasonable score pending some support from the ranks, failing that it could be a long hot night!! Go for a Newcastle win by 14. :t:. By the way The Abbott, my enter button doesn't work either, it is a fault being looked into, got a PM from Lioness y,day that it will be flagged up for attention, you are not alone!! ;)

Believe it or not Sheffield were actually worse than Rye House! At least Rye had more than 2 riders scoring. And onto tonights meeting..... Just as I thought they would be Sheffield were pathetic!! Joe Haines never at the races, Richard Hall would've been his usual self 0,0,0,1 had he not been withdrawn. Luckily yous had Richard Lawson and Ricky Wells to put up half a fight to Newcastle. Ricky Wells his Elite League experience shone through made the start in most of his races and his races were then over after the 2nd bend. Heat 13 Richard Lawson to be fair was infront but my god he narf showed Richie the fence was a bit rough.... So too was Schrammy's ride in 14 he wanted that second place lol. Christian Henry was superb for Newcastle was very unlucky not to get a full 12 point max unfortunately Stuey had other ideas lol. And finally onto Adam Roynon its sad to see but maybe all the injuries have finally caught up with him he just looks like his head isn't right and hopefully for his sake he wraps in before the unthinkable happens.

Just got back from Newcastle. Agree with some of your views. Right about Ricky and Richard lawson and Joe. Too early to judge Adam. Just done 4 meetings in 4 nights. Give him a chance. Who knows what hally would have scored. Facu and damion tried hard and got better as the evening went on. Disappointing and not very exciting meeting.

Well my predictions for speedway results are as bad as my lottery No's, Lawson/Wells apart Sheff not at the races? Don't think losing Hall would be that much of an excuse either as he didn't appear to be doing too well anyway, Roynon really struggling at the moment and I honestly think the guy has had one crash too many, Haines not the rider he was either and Albin not getting the points he was predicted to get early doors and I wish that Koppe had turned in a two point performance for Somerset the other night against us, would have been in the semi's now!! :D . Not a good time for Sheff at the moment? As for Newcastle, well you guy's are gonna be hard to beat at home this year absolutely solid throughout hardly a weak link, am hoping for an "off night" for you when we next come a calling coz we are a bit rank at Brough thesedays so we need all the help we can get!! :D

Ive total respect for Adam in him making a track return after yet another bad injury, but can Sheffield really wait around and hope Roynon re-discovers his pre-injury form,he very well may,on the other hand he may never get back to that kind of form.

A poor meeting

Sheffield literally only had two riders. None of the other five beat a Diamond all night.

The only interest was watching the elbows flying into the first bend every time Worrall and Lawson met.

A very one sided Meeting that Newcastle fully deserved to win - and they did. That's all there is to say really. As a Contest - it was just about all over by the time I arrived at the Track. In time for the start of Heat 5.

For the Diamonds it was job done and everybody got a decent score especially Schramm highest score since signing and Henry paid max. However tigers apart from 2 were terrible, Roynon is a good rider with no luck but may have signed to soon for tigers was out the race after bend 1 even if he gated. Hope he bounces back like he has many times before with no more bad injuries.
