Rule Changes For 2014

Not disputing that, but you're defeating the argument there aren't you. You're admitting it was much easier to manipulate meetings so the weaker team won.

I preferred the old rule Sidney, same as you do I'm sure. I'm not naïve enough to think it was in anyway fairer though.

Not an argument and i am not naive anough to think that i am always right just my opinion that's all.My take on it was why change a rule that was not broke anyway did SKY have any input on the new rule?

Probably.

Seriously - I don't know - good question though. :t:

It's well documented why the new rule was brought in. Cost.

It was costing promoters a lot of money paying out the extra pts money to the top riders. The Double pts rule achieved the same effect without paying extra.

Another reason (but less the reason for the change) given was that the old system was unfair on some of the lesser riders who were getting replaced and very often in the races they best stood a chance in (heat 8 in particular).

The rule was change because teams like Ipswich were having to paid the Likes of Scott Nicholls extra money for the extra points and rides ..all to do with cost .

But when you are paying the likes of Ward and Holder now who are hardly on peanuts is that cheap?

True but if the old rule was still in force you would be paying them even more

That's the point Sidney.

If Ward takes a tac now, and scores 6.. he only gets paid for 3, normal race win.

Before he'd get an extra ride, so they'd be paying him for an extra 3 pts. Will add up to a fair bit over the season I expect.

Well of course he would because a win will earn him more points than second and so on the black hat changes nothing pay wise .

How is he pushing himself? It's the same race that he would be expected to try to win.

It matters not whether you are 'convinced'. That is the reason.

Well i am shot down again in flames the Master responds, have a rethink and others on the forum have commented you GET confused with fact and your own Humble(what a laugh that is!) opinion.

It was well documented at the time that riders didn't get paid for TRs. In fact Carl Stonehewer walked out of Workington before a meeting as he felt he'd been under paid.

No doubt riders quickly worked out they were now scoring 2 or 3 points a week less and upped their points money demand to make up for it.

No they haven't. Only you and GRW, when you've been wrong about something. You're wrong here. Ask your promoter if you don't believe me.

What ? it is fact that the rule changed because of the cost ..why on every topic do you start name calling rather than sticking to the debate ?

You are right orion.

However it changes my b****y temper very time it comes out - for whatever Team. It certainly spoils my enjoyment of a Meeting and despite what others say on here - it really DOES effect newcomers attitude to Speedway.

So what happened to all the fans who abandoned the sport (and there are far more of them) before this evil rule was introduced?

It would be if I had done that.

But I didn't.

To be fair Grand Central, you didn't upon re-reading, you highlighted how it can make a meeting more exciting but didn't attack the current system. My bad sir!

Wolves v Poole tonight.

There was a superb, tension packed Heat 15 by all accounts, that was even exciting on the radio. I could hear the roar of the crowd as Harris passed Smolinski on the last lap to clinch the maximum 3pts for Wolves.

Of course without the tac rides, the meeting would have long previous petered out into a run of the mill victory.

Ahhh - BUT - it would have been the CORRECT Result. :t:
