Russia is obviously Emil plus the Laguta's.

Their 4th man will probably be Povazhny but they may spring a surprise and give Chalov a go.

Lebadevs and Bogdanovs pretty much a certainty for Latvia.

Come on Russia :)

Also hope our lads give a good account of themselves and give Cook and Worrall a go. :)

Also be interesting to see Manzares. wasn't he the keyboard player with The Doors?

Emil will not race, due his foot injury.

here is a link to confirm that:

Emil Sayfutdinov has sensationally pulled out of the Speedway World Cup after doctors told him to rest his broken foot.

The Russian, who leads the world championship series rode with a broken metatarsal on Saturday night at the Danish

round of this years series. Sayfutdinov sustained the injury on June 24 riding for Czestochowa against Gorzow.

HUGE blow for the competition as a whole. Looks like Australia, Denmark and Poland to take on the Czech Republic in the final.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about Czech Repub already in final, what a farce.

I cant get my head round the Czech's being in the final just because the meeting is held in Prague. How many more will that put on the gate against having a competitive 4 team meeting with close racing and a closer result. Baffling decision. It will be even more baffling if the racing is poor because of the track.

CANNOT argue with any of that...

Hopefully an expected farce of a performance from czech will result in no home nation ever being seeded again

Good to see a different country host the final but outrageous that such a woeful speedway nation get a seed

Could well fail to score a point

Good luck to the Reds as they have been robbed of a golden chance to win the whole bloody trophy :(

And also lets hope Latvia give a good showing and highlight the ridiculous ruling that the SWC have introduced that allows a team like the Czechs to stink out the final

The strange thing to me is that it means that the race off meeting is guaranteed to be without the home nation.

If they are seeding them to the final because they think locals wont turn up without them in there, it surely means the race off will be without these fans, and will be an even smaller draw to floating fans without the home nation than the final would be...It seems like the overall attendance over the two meetings is likely to be lower this way than having the home nation at the race off.

It makes more sense to seed them to the race off and then they get an increased crowd for that, and with them enjoying home track advantage they have a chance to qualify for the final on merit.

As for the selections by the various nations, I am quite surprised to see that Viktor Kulakov has got the nod for Russia. He hasn't exactly been scoring great in the meetings I have seen results from.

The news about Chris Holder's crash at Coventry tonight alters the whole situation again. Obviously i hope ( along with everyone else) that it isn't as bad as first feared. I guess we will know more tomorrow. Regards. Alan.

It's clearly an incentive to get other countries to stage it other than Poland, Sweden, England and Denmark.

The big argument was always how do you sell a race off and final without the host nation likely to be in the final, the new seeding host to final gets by that.
