spanner47
Another very decent evenings entertainment, excellent track that all the riders could attack. Ben was totally awesome, the last ditch passes by Morten and Leigh were also out of the top drawer. Nice to see old Joe still chucking the bike around, but sadly on this occasion Ben was just too good. Another 4 figure crowd to keep the hardest working promoter in the land happy, and while on the subject of CL, I've said it on the elite league is dead thread and I'll say it on here, a massive thank you to Chris for taking us out of the unaffordable, unsustainable joke league that's full of guests and riders (if they turn up) not getting paid (allegedly), and taking us into a real speedway league, you are a diamond geyser Sir!!!, and I'm sure all genuine supporters are very grateful. I know those who stand with me certainly are.
Gavan
well we can only beat whats put in front of us and Glasgow really are a poor side which is a shame to see. great club with great tradition. Jackal will have a field day about the scoreline but the racing tonight was ok. you would get the same in the elite if Eastbourne or Peterborough were racing. Im also waiting for him to moan about young Adam, a 3 point reserve who has upped his average. only 3 tonight but not for trying. I personally think Adam is in a poorer run of form but all riders hit a lull in a season but it will change. Ben is awesome at the moment and we do have the number 1 we were waiting for. a great racer, interacts with the fans, great signing. Finally felt a bit sad watching Screeny ride round at the end. I remember when I was about 13 or so and Joe, Mark, Chris and Havvy on British Final sundays were greta memories and now the last of those guys is retiring. Never achieved the success his talent deserved but a true great in my eyes just for the riding style. Good health and good luck Joe
2ndbendbeerhut
Now thats how a meeting should run, all over by just after 9! If anything track was too dry after the threat of rain but still produced good racing. For the second year running, Glasgow were shocking! Barker - awesome (15 pt full max), gated in 3 of them and made 2 excellent passes both on Screen in the other 2 Bates - didn't expect him to score tbh, but to get 6 including a great heat 8 win was superb. best i've seen him ride. Tungate got a max too (12 pt full) looked much quicker, especially off the corners, went un-noticed really! Risager - No race wins but was trying inside and out to pass, great move off the last bend in heat 3 Lanham - only dropped a point, passed Grieves off last corner in his 1st heat which set up his night.Allowed Barker through off the last bend in heat 15 for max Ellis - Customary heat 2 win but then seemed to be over riding in remaining heats after being out gated. Does alot better off inside gates, so personally i'd switch him and Heeps in 7 and 8. Heeps - Very mature display, twice sitting behind partner for a paid 5-1 win. Excellent ride in heat 12 after being off dodgy gate 4. Cut back and was 2nd coming off the 2nd bend, Bager dived under him only for him to see him coming and cut back to repass off the corner, to finish with a paid 12 pt max!  For Glasgow Screen - last time "Super Joe" Screen will grace Foxhall, can still mix it, and admitted that he wanted a heat win badly. Raun - fell off in 1st heat, gated better in his last heat but shut out off 2nd bend. Bager - 3rd highest scorer with 4+1! Compton - Good gate in heat 14 for only the 2nd Glasgow win on the night Grieves - Of his opponents he could only beat Bates. Ringwood - Did beat Jacobs in heat 2 Jacobs - did better in heat 14 when he beat Ellis but was also challenging Risager in 2nd  Decent crowd, a fair few away fans in the new stand and big home win in the Premier League  Ps  Sure Jackal will have a few points to make regarding..... Ellis vs Jacobs Why its Chris Louis' fault that Glasgow were so poor Why did Risager not get a race win? Why did Lanham not get a max too? Where was Ritchie Hawkins? dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
The scoreline would normally make you think this was a bit of a procession but it was far from it. An excellent nights racing with the highlights of superb last bend outside passes by Morten and Leigh. How long have we waited for a home full max from our No1? Finally the wait is over. A max for Rohan and a paid max for Cam too so all in all a good job done.
Baldyman
Really good meeting, racing was better than score would have you think. Not so sure about the decent crowd that spanner mentions although it did fill up just before the start, was looking very bare at half 7. Agree with everything else he said though. Another great racer like Joe not to be seen again at foxhall, thanks for many years of entertainment Joe. Would like to see Adam do what cam did when he misses the gate and cut back round the inside. He does seem plenty fast enough round the bends, but looks not so fast down straights, maybe a gearing issue? Met tcoz, nice young chap with a lovely speedway scar on his elbow. Complain about missing riders while Ipswich had to use a junior for Hawkins. Complain about finances and ignore that more clubs have left the PL the last 5 seasons than have left the EL.  Stopping kidding yourself the PL is in an amazing state. Â Equally nice to meet you baldyman. and apologies to super blue for not being there when u stopped by. Â To the meeting, i can only really echo what others have said. Josh Bates, take a bow son, what a performance, fully deserved his 6 points. Hunger was definitely there from all 7 riders, keep this attitude going and should be targeting at least 2 points away this weekend. Plenty of positives to keep this momentum going. Â For glasgow, Compton was a surprise package, the others did as expected. Little Joe got better and better as the night went on and was pushing Morten all the way in ht14, keep it up mate. Â Stopping kidding yourself the PL is in an amazing state. I never stated that the PL is in an amazing state, but I reckon it's a lot healthier than the EL. Every league in every sport will have at least one crap team, but at least they turned up with all their own riders. As for Richie not being there, we haven't been told the reason yet, all they said was personal reasons, that's good enough for me. You know as well as I do, the EL cant possibly continue in it's current state, I'm just glad we got out when we did.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
My guess re Ritchie would be that he had pre standing commitments (the very reason he was reluctant to put pen to paper full time). Id imagine last night was part of the compromise agreed when he signed for the season.
Ipswich Jules
Complain about the EL but ignore the fact the PL has a team like Glasgow so far out of it that it's embarrassing. Complain about missing riders while Ipswich had to use a junior for Hawkins.  Complain about finances and ignore that more clubs have left the PL the last 5 seasons than have left the EL.  Stopping kidding yourself the PL is in an amazing state.  British speedway isn't in an amazing state as a whole but the PL is a lot more stable and consistent than the EL. Every league has good teams and poor teams, if all teams were equally as good/bad as each other then every heat would be 3-3 and every meeting drawn. In order to have teams that win and do well you have to have teams that lose and don't do so well - The PL has them, the EL has them. Even the Polish league has its Torun's and its Gniezno's  There was only one missing rider last night and that was Hawkins due to personal reasons, that can happen to anybody in any line of work so to use that as an example isn't fair at all. Had he been missing because of doubling up/down, riding for a team in a different country etc then you may of had a case. And was R/R used? No, a young Brit was given a chance and handled himself well. Surely that's making the best of the situation?  Of the PL clubs that have left, how many have gone into the EL to make up the requirement for the SKY deal?  If / when the SKY money goes at the end of this season do you think half of those teams currently competing in the EL will still be able to make ends meet? There are enough struggling at the present so I think the PL will see a lot more teams applying to "drop down" and run on a more affordable budget.
Jackal
Now this meeting confirms EXACTLY what I have been saying nearly all season about ""the wonder boy"" Ellis !!! Getting his usual only 3 points in heat 2 (the easiest heat out of 15) and then getting naff all against very poor riders. Now Josh Bates is only 16 also and he scored 6 points from the hard no2 position and he indeed looked a REAL talent. Beating riders Compton and Raun who Ellis could not beat once and Raun only scored 1 point and guess who that was against, yes Ellis !!! Even the slow keeping it safe line of Joe Jacobs was good enough to beat Ellis in heat 14 and Ellis had gate 1 !!! So wise up you Ellis fans, he is not our asset so why bother with him at all ??? He for a young rider is only VERY average and there are much better alternatives out there as young Josh showed us all with his determined riding and getting in where it hurts. Ellis if any rider shows any aggression against him just moves out of the way like last night, pathetic !!! Â Now to the meeting itself. Glasgow I thought were a disgrace apart from good old Joe and if this premier league is supposed to be the league to be in, you can fool me. Wednesdays meeting on sky at Kings Lynn had excitement and commitment in abundance and was a great spectacle to behold and is the league to be in for me. Great to see what little excitement there was coming from Ben who's passes of Joe where brilliant and Cam getting a paid maximum shows what REAL young talent can really do. Josh Bates was fantastic and what a 16 he is with Real talent. Glasgow really showed what the premier league is all about, 2 riders retiring at end of season finishing their careers safely. Compton coming back into speedway and looks like Hawkins reluctantly and really off the pace with the slowest time of the night with his easy win in heat 14. 2 reserves who look as though they will never make it, along with Raun who looked totally outclassed except when he beat the unchallenging Ellis in heat 11. So on yet another damp, cold, windy night, the attendance was pitiful and if this continues like this in the premier league, I can only see one conclusion if we stay in this dead league if not saved by the sponsors !!! Â Disgrace may be a bit harsh but we are certainly the laughing stock to the many fans off other teams we are treated with a total distain and it is heartbreaking as a Glasgow fan to see how far we have tumbled we would give that awful Mildenhall team off a few years ago a run for there money as the worst team ever to grace the PL, the Red Revolution is now spluttering to a halt as the fans feeling's are growing increasingly frustrated and dis-illusioned into the state that our once great club finds itself in. So another win and all you can do is criticize Adam again (and you keep saying you aren't prejudice against anyone!). You keep going on about he is not our asset, so who would you replace him with, our own asset Joe Jacobs? Again what you keep forgetting is Adam is in his first year of speedway and Cam is in his second, having seen tracks before, so do us all a favour and start getting behind the whole team. We are fourth in the league if you haven't noticed. Yes, Josh did have a good meeting, but as you say against a disgrace of a team. He did start the season with Scunthorpe and didn't last long there did he! You can only judge him against better opposition. The other thing is Ben is not our asset so why should we bother with him as well!
Jackal
Â The other thing is Ben is not our asset so why should we bother with him as well! Â Easy easy answer.........Ben is a very exciting no1 Ive always wanted who scores lots of crucial points that win matches, whereas Ellis is just another run-of-the-mill low scoring reserve!
