greyhoundp
What on earth has happened up at Stoke ? there results over the past week, have been nothing short of disasterous, and appear downright embarrassing, the nights result against IOW, who were just shy of 70 points just about topped it off, Malcolm Vasey there much respected, and knowledgable Team manager appears to be unable to halt the slide, I don't know what the crowds are like up there but something needs to be done, otherwise I fear for the future of the potteries Team, 2 years ago they were up there challenging for NL honours, at the IOW they won 1 race, the last one and that was by there guest and Top scorer Lewis Rose. I don't know whats wrong in the camp, but its pretty obvious all is not well..

montie
Don't think Stoke have had the best of luck either,Emerson Jones quit on them then Lee Payne got injured, team looked ok to start with but now they need to change I just can't see who they can bring in,and until there is a steady flow of talent coming through I can't see the situation changing
NTB
I'd try and change lee smart first especially on that high average. He'll never be a descent rider IMO

Baldy
Going to be very hard for Stoke now. Lee Smart was a decent rider; unfortunately Stoke were gambling on him returning to his old form which has only been shown in flashes. Ben looks like he may of reached his level and may be even drop a bit on his average which is a pity with all the effort he puts in, of course now on the side lines with injury. Kyle is going to need a massive injection of cash to get bikes to race, not sure that will happen. Luke was going to be the supporting rider that he has always been but that in recent weeks has faded. Lee Payne was showing up wonderfully well until the rib injury. Shaun was always going to be a steep learning curve and not much can be laid at his door and unfortunately the fast starting number two hasn't and of course in hind sight, Liam was the pick for that spot. Where do they go from here?

Where do they go from here? Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I don't understand why Liam Carr wasn't re-signed, there were to many gambles taken ie could Lee Smart regain his old form?, could Luke Chessell a reserve at best do a job at No2?, and could Kyle Hughes keep his equipment up to scratch? non have come off, which is unfortunate. Somehow Stoke have to find riders who WILL do a job for them in the current situation, Jake Knight is a possible, but after that Im not sure where they can find anyone. Like your post greyhound and agree with all you say although with Liam; I don't know of any Stoke supporter who didn't say that he should of been the first on the sheet this year so not quite hindsight, more of not foresight by some in higher positions. Although for me, it will take more than just Stoke to turn themselves around ; before I return; want to see a concerted effort by speedway in general to get good racing on the track before I return. Three good races a night isn't good enough for me.
SCSA
The trouble with Stoke as always is the jurassic promotion and the way they operate, its high time they sold up. Edited June 26, 2013 by SCSA
Craftman
The team as I see it , Smart - cannot and never will justify his high average , not good enough as a number 1 Chessell - can gate , that's about it tbh Reade - not the same rider as last year , will struggle to match his average Priest - will always respect him after what he's been through , shown flashes of potential , just not consistent Hughes - seems finances will halt his season when he was a rare bright spark amongst mediocrity Payne - Shinning light , real potential Tedham - some decent performances , but is he really capable of joining the main body of the team We can't compete away from Loomer road , and look vulnerable at home . Even if Tattum was willing to sell , who would throw their money into such a dire set up ?
montie
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I don't understand why Liam Carr wasn't re-signed, Cost I would say...dead simple..
Baldy
Cost I would say...dead simple.. If you are right and no reason to believe you are not, that is a very big worry for Stokes future if they cannot pay a young lad for riding. I know big distances traveled by Liam but in speedway that is the nature of the beast and also Buxton have picked up the tab on him now, which is similar distance from his home. builderbob
so who would you like to see in the team and in place of which riders
Craftman
so who would you like to see in the team and in place of which riders That's the million dollar question ! Liam Carr will always spring to mind after last years performances at Loomer road. Unfortunately , Nichols , Harris , Tai and co are outside the budget at the moment so options because the time of the season are severely limited. northernpotter
Can someone please name riders that are actually available rather than keep throwing riders names that are already attached to other clubs !

Ben91
Not sure what anyone was expecting, it was a poor line up from day one. Smart has had one injury too many. Chessell has been around a while without making great strides. Reade has potential. Hughes has a kid now and hasn't looked the same since he had a horror smash when he was a Rocket a few seasons back. Priest had a bad injury yes but that was a long time ago now and there's no room for sentiment when you want to win, he's never going to get better. Payne looks like he's going to go far from early showings. Tedham may improve but he's not got time on his side. I like Stoke and seeing them drop into the NL was sad, there was supposedly going to be a PL return after a few years in the NL but that looks highly unlikely now unfortunately. Hopefully they will turn the season around and enjoy some success.
trophykid
Well guys, what's the way forward? I was encouraged by Gemma Crabtrees spin, but it all looks like tosh. The promotion says riders are in the last chance saloon hmm. It's seems to have gone just a little worse every year since the premier league exit. I understand the downbeat posts about Stoke, but how can we as fans move forward? Does anyone care even!? I'm looking for a chink of light, something to follow. We can't go on as we are. I'll be there tomorrow evening. Up the Potters!!!! Well guys, what's the way forward? I was encouraged by Gemma Crabtrees spin, but it all looks like tosh.
