Charlieboy
Hope jake carries on in NL and makes progress.I think Sheffield management took the decision that one or two of the under performers could raise their game and turn their season round where as jake probably cant come up with the big scores when we need it.Feel sorry for the lad but it might make him come back stronger hopefully. Its now up to the new rider and the under performers to get their act together and rescue our season.Hally and Haines must be more consistant or the season is going to be over very soon. Najjer
JAKE KNIGHT UPDATE.  Jake had agreed to ride for buxton before he had been released from Sheffields team, this was to be part of his development along with his Premier League racing. The track at buxton would have given him the small track racing that he needed and extra track time.  After Sheffields decision to release Jake he has now decided to give speedway a break and consider his future in the sport.  Regards Richard  And people question why British riders are at the standard that they are - with an attitude like that it's no wonder why.  Speedway is a ruthless sport and points make prizes, if Jake wasn't upto his job in the Sheffield side for whatever reason then it's not rocket science that he is going to be moved on. The right attitude after this would be to take one step back, to take two steps forward and be willing to come back harder than ever - but just throwing the towel in is a poor show. OdsalBoy
I feel gutted for Jake as he seems like a sound honest lad, but the team did need changes. I wish jake all the best with his future plans.

diamond_ren
To be fair to the kid the Sheffield promotion hardly helped him with the make up of the team!!

100% agree - a 3 point rider should start the year under no real pressure other than to mantain his average, but that pressure was somewhat increased by having two assessed 5 point riders.

Who knows why Jake has taken the decision, it could be finance problems. Â I doubt it is down to attitude problems, Jake quit his National League position at Kings Lynn to concentrate on his Sheffield commitments..

That's one way of looking at it.  Another way is, making the massive step up to PL, he had to spend a large amount on equipment and, possibly, can't afford to ride soley in the NL. romans lovechild
we all seem to be with it being adam roynon on this one, as the promotion say it is a well known rider, so that rules out any unknown Scandinavian rider ,maybe just maybe it could be taylor poole. psycho3a
I can't believe Jake is quitting.. Maybe he should take a leaf out Damien's book.. He has been practising here there and everywhere.. Yet jake appears to be doing less.. A young lad needs to prove himself in the NL.. Even Adam Roynon and Joe Haines have appeared in Nl as recent as last season I believe.. Popular Post relic
Jake had taken a leaf out of Damien's book. He had done many laps at places like Kings lynn and Mildenhall which were nearer to where he lived. I was in the pits with him at nearly all the home meetings and some away and can only say that his and Richard's commitment to Sheffield was first class, the equipment was top flight, and he was a great team player. As has been said in other places Jake was in the wrong place at the wrong time, this should have been a no preasure training year with a view to making a significant contributuion next year. But due to the situation of the with the team as a whole he pressurised himself to try and punch above his weight, and we saw the effect of that. Jake and Richard were a pleasure to work with and I just hope that a way can be found for Jake to continue in the sport. Jake< Richard thanks for the oppotunity to work with you. All the best.
