msc1874
I love the top motor cyclists like Jorge Lorenzo, in Moto GP. A format the Spanish dominate at this moment in time. Given the spaniards prowess on motor bikes, has there ever been a Spanish speedway rider?
mickthemuppet
I went to a Speedway meeting at San Pardo in Majorca around about 1971 . There were about 6,000 people there and I think the meeting was won by Marshall Pugh Half of the riders were Spanish but very inexperienced

Shale Shaker
Didn't a British fellow (used to post on here I'm sure) try to set up a track somewhere in Southern Spain a few years ago. I seem to remember it never really got off the ground due to lack of Spanish interest.

He did try his hand over here following that venture but was a very poor standard second half junior at best. Think it was Canterbury, he didn't stay long
TwoMinuteWarning
There were some Spanish riders pre-war, racing in the bullrings of Madrid and Barcelona. Not at the same time as the bulls, presumably. A team of 4 Spaniards rode at Wembley in the late 1920's and were well beaten. freddyfivetoes
Technically, Facundo Albin at Sheffield is Spanish. Insofar as he uses a Spanish passport.
Mr Ore
I think there was Juan. I have (not) read somewhere Lewis Kerr's cousin on his father's brother's side, (who he know's nothing about), is called Juan. He could be one of those Spanish Juan Kerrs. (As I am one eighth Spanish I can insult my maternal roots with a clear conscience.)

The Voice Of Reason
If memory serves me right, I think a few Mildenhall riders were Spanish. They certainly knew how to use their 'El Bows' around West Row. Can you imagine it though - Speedway in Spain. Meetings being cancelled because it's too hot and dry! If only........... Guest
It wasn't very popular,it was only watched by Juan Menendez dog. There was a reported 6,000 crowd at the first meeting - many of them holidaymakers - as well as local people.
