Andre Compton Joins Glasgow

Recommended Posts

Pretty sure they said the ex-GP rider was based in Poland or Polish or that might have been a Polish rider who they also spoke to. Apparently they spoke to numerous riders including an EL rider whom they said was more than happy to come and right up for up it, until he found out Glasgow raced on a Sunday  ......must have thought it was still Shawfield on a Friday night, gotta love these riders who stay in the loop.............of course I may have picked it all up wrong as I battled manfully to stay awake during Sunday's meeting :P

Polish riders can ride in the PL with a UK licence like Rajkowski last season

The quote about the GP rider is just a rehash of what Alun Biggart mentioned on Sunday, so it isnt new or others talking out of turn. I actually don't think its Raun as I can't see what would hold up his signing. In fact it seemed to be a Swede that was suggested.

It seems to me that Adam Roynon seems to really have confused matters at Glasgow, As many thought and hoped that he would come back strong in Kaukos meeting and that Leicester would release Magnus Karlsson to go to Glasgow with the rider himself saying he would be keen to go there if required. If Leicester were to keep Magnus then Glasgow could look at Roynon BUT that is all in an ideal world and has not happened as Roynon is not ready for league return yet and has a high average to live up to so massive gamble for some club to take on previous meetings this year. If he was to return now from what I have seen and have been told if he was to join a team now can see his average score being 4-5 but how is the lad going to get his confidence back and the racing skill back without regular racing with 4 riders in proper races, its all well and good blasting round Brandon or Sheffield on your own or with an other but not true racing where points and money at stake.

The rumoured GP rider I think may have been Ales Dryml

Andre’s level of performance was the determining factor and we are delighted to advise that we now have Management Committee approval for him to join the club, initially on a 28 day contract, as agreed to by his parent club Sheffield. Having been out of the saddle for the best part of 3 years, Andre’s starting average has been re-assessed at 5.97.

just looked up his average from 2010 with workington was 5.97 ? so how has it been re-assessed ?

Andre was a good hard rider who lost his enthusiasm for the sport as opposed to his guts, bottle ,balls, whatever! Seems like he's up for it, so could we see the Compton of old? Fast, aggressive and a good team man. Coupled with the fact that Crazy Ringwood goes to reserve Glasgow may have the makings of a good team. Still think Berwick will win sunday though

Hmmm... usual treatment for Glasgow then.

Usual treatment? You mean sticking to the rules? You don't get a reduction for retiring. It's either injured for 12 months (sometimes they're lenient on that one by a few weeks) or you miss 3 season, Andre has missed 2.5 seasons. Plus I thought he looked good and was Glasgows saviors, so a 6 point average should be no problem.

I wasn't talking about his average. He is coming in on a very good average. I was referring to the 28day contract.

Good Luck Andre !

Judging by those after match spins at Sheffield, the Glasgow fans will finally have something to shout about !

Just remember those "Scottish Notes" won't be legal to spend back home 'come devolution' !

(Sorry Kirstie x)
