weejeemy
I think I heard they have a verbal agreement with a Scandinavian rider which has yet to be ratified. Welcome to the Stripes Andre and good luck.
luluthetiger
Impressive what a weekend in Scotland by Alun Biggart can achieve!
KevH
So no word as to the promised Scandinavian rider today.....does that mean the deal has fallen through?
DW
Not necessarily, if the mystery rider has signed it still needs to be ratified by the MC which could hold up any announcement. Didn't Stoke used to sign the more experienced riders in their PL days? Raun's average is around 5.70ish from his Newcastle days. Nielsen didnt look that good yesterday and would be a major surprise if he signs. Edited June 17, 2013 by DW

That's a fair point, but if that's the case, surely the Glasgow promotion were aware of that when they promised the announcement ?
flagrag
Jonas Raun will be the rider that they will be announcing soon I think he is a Peterborough asset so probably just get a loan agreed with them,I saw him ride at show ground after the Coventry match and looked a good premier league option. I wonder what his average is ?

I wonder what his average is ? His last PL average from 2007 was 6.11, and he averaged 1.92 for Belle Vue in the EL in 2008.......how that calculates into a 2013 PL average, I have no idea!!! Gazc
That's a fair point, but if that's the case, surely the Glasgow promotion were aware of that when they promised the announcement ? \ They said on Sunday it would be Wednesday or Thursday before any announcement on the new rider would be made , looking at the new averages Compton will probably replace Horwood and we still have plenty points after James Wrights points are taking out the equation for a new heat leader 7 or above which makes us far more competitive . Boobs
Strange announcement on BSPA newspage by Colin Hamilton about "we were talking to an ex-GP rider, but now he's not coming" What organisation makes negative public statements like that? Now the bar is set very high, and the announcement of a mid-range Dane with (if posters above are correct, as I guess they will be) won't have the same effect on the public. Note to Mr H: You already have a former GP star rider in your team, make more of him!

luluthetiger
Announcements now a sore point with me after a good start by the new promotion. Is it the case that when Alan Biggurt is in town, good things happen. Then he goes back to Denmark and the silly announcements occur? I agree the "ex-GP star" public statement is a foot-shooting exercise of the first water.
JakeDaniels
Don't agree. Personally think the "ex-GP star" statement was put out there to say we're not scraping the barrel to find a low cost rider to fill a hole. We're looking for a quality rider to excite the fans. putting together a competitive exciting winning team doesn't put enough bums on seats, though a team losing at home and not providing entertainment leaves plenty of empty seats it's finding the equilibrium that's difficult especially as 90% of our targets race in Poland. Perhaps it's no coincidence that Alun Biggart is in town when decisions are required, he is clearly an astute business man who knows how to give a speech, Colin Hamilton could easily have stood there and said the same words. The day to day promotional team are doing a good job but financial decisions are the job of the big boss.

Aye, the statement said exactly that. Unfortunately, it seems Tigers will end up with a low-cost rider filling the hole.
SCB
Don't agree. Personally think the "ex-GP star" statement was put out there to say we're not scraping the barrel to find a low cost rider to fill a hole.It means bugger all. I can go and test drive a Ferarri but on a £2,000 budget I'm going to be laughed out the show room and have to go next door to honest kens and buy a 10 year old Ford Focus that has a bit of rust and has seen better days. It was a nice dream for the 30 minutes I was test driving the Ferrari, shame it went wrong when money was mentioned.
