John Leslie
Development/training leagues - and there's guest riders? They're all "guest riders" at this level. There's no assets or contracts or pay. It's all about getting 8 young or relatively inexperienced riders on track in a reasonably meaningful competitive environment. I always stay behind and watch any 2nd half events, and the Midland Development League is just about the best of them all.
SarahLapworth
Interesting. So the same four visiting riders could turn up and race as another team the following week? I thought team composition was more rigid when I read this comment in the match report "Long Eaton Invaders Sean Phillips who was guesting for Belle Vue." As stated above in a previous comment all riders in the MDL could be considered guest riders as no team is allowed to sign them or consider them as assets unless they actually are as in the cases of Shaun Tedham and Lee Payne (Stoke) and Martin Knuckey (Coventry). What we try to put in place in the MDL is that riders can be identified with a certain team as Lee Geary (Long Eaton) and Conor Dwyer (MK Knights). As riders do not get paid any points or travel money for their efforts they are in effect free to ride for whoever they want. At the end of the day its all about bringing these guys on so the more rides they get the better
