Who Should Be In Gb World Cup Team?

Recommended Posts

You say that but Cook has no straights speed... He's suited to small tracks.

Ben Barker's suited to Prague.. Somebody who can wind it on.

Please remind me who he rode for before joining Edinburgh???

Without going through all 20 pages, who in the last few seasons, has the best average and record at Kings Lynn between Kennet, Bridger, King, Barker, Cook.

Richie Worrall. :wink::t::rofl:

Worrall's over-rated.. Saw him at EOES and he's another small track brit and nowhere near SWC level.

As for Cook, He used to ride for Peterborough but he wasn't anything special; A nice lad though who was in the City Centre once handing out leaflets with Michael Jepsen Jensen.

is this the same Richie Worrall who got an 18 point maximum in the elite league on that small track Kings Lynn!!!

is this the same Cook i saw on tv at Somerset go around the outside and cut back to pass Jason Doyle? no speed required to ride Somereset then?

18 at Scunthorpe unbeaten.

12 plus 2 at Berwick

14 at Berwick

12 (first race 0 then 4 wins twice beating Doyle) at Somerset.

Yep Cook is poor on the big tracks lol

He maybe not at SWC level yet but he is good enough for team GB at the NA.Afterall his record of beating the likes of Nicholls,F.Lindgren,Harris and Holder x2 must stand him in good stead.

is this also the same Worrall that fairly and squarely beat Holder twice this season!

Amazing how Craig Cook is praised to the high heavens yet Jonasson is slated when Cook is 26 and Jonasson is 24 yet Jonasson's achieved much more in the sport.

So what?

It's about what you do when your younger and I find it silly how Tomas picks up so much criticism when he's achieved much more than most riders at their age.

Craig Cook is good but if Edinburgh fans had the choice, They would take Jonasson back no doubt.. He was a true racer and enigma unlike Cook who's just a gater and I don't understand how Cook has managed to get into the SWC team.

He's nowhere near international level, He struggles to pass top riders and a rider like Auty is miles better in my opinion as he can generate speed.. Cook's a white line rider who gates well at Premier/Elite Level but he will go missing at the top level.

I hope i'm wrong but I can see Craig struggling.

I'm a Edinburgh fan and I would rather have Cook

1.) better rider home and away 2.) (and this is the most important one) he actually turns up!!!!

Cook also has a higher EL and PL average than THJ

Also regarding your comment about not generating speed, he broke to track records at the weekend one at Edinburgh on Friday by 0.2 seconds and then at Glasgow on Sunday by a whole second if that is not having speed not to sure what is.

Another comment you made was he he can't pass top rider read below.

Heat 09: Cook, Batchelor, Nieminen, Birks. (4-2)...25-29...59.8

Line Up: Cook, Nieminen, Batchelor, Birks

Comments: Batchelor leading until Cookie wound on the gas and sailed by.

We've got Latvia, one-man US and a slightly fragile Australia on Thursday. We have to put out our strongest team, thinking about it that's Woffinden, Harris, Barker and King.

All the best

Rob

Agree,Barker and King have to get a chance or we will never know.GB were never going to qualify from tonight.Cook exposed he is a class PL rider and OK in British elite league which is a poor standard, don't think he would do anything on the Continent. At 27 it is hard to say if he will improve much more.I don't think he will ever be aGP rider but would be happy to be proved long,he is dedicated now.

Cookie did struggle tonight, looked much more rigid & tense on the bike than he does when I watch him for the Aces - I'm sure Monarchs fans would also concur with that. Presumably nerves would account for much of it, as well as his sluggishness from the tapes - again fairly rare for Craig. He'll be disappointed with tonight, but can only benefit from the overall experience from tonight, as well as from Prague on Thursday, if Middlo sticks with him - which in my opinion he should. He's come a long way in the last four years, & I think with continued dedication, good advice & international experience he'll avoid the "glass ceiling" most up & coming Brits (Bridger, Barker King, Stead, Kennett, Howe etc) hit when they've reached a certain level. What is clear to all is that Team GB aren't "world class" & IMO need a medium term selection policy to slowly build & progress around Tai & Bomber. The selection of an out of form Kennett in place of an up n coming Richie Worrall makes me doubt whether such a plan is in place.

Craig Cook's biggest 'fault' is that he lacks experience at the highest level of the sport, which is hardly surprising given that he only started riding five years ago. He may not make it to 'world class' level, but pulling him out of the 'Race Off' is hardly going to help his development. Unfortunately, the alternatives, which seem to consist of Bridger, King and Barker are hardly likely to significantly surpass however many points Cook may score in Prague. After all, the aforementioned riders are hardly 'big' scorers at Elite League level, let alone on the Continent.

I would agree to stick with Craig if GB did not have a chance of winning on Thurs, but lets face it Aussies are in the Sam e boat as GB 2 decent riders and Latvia could be anything.Barker and King might do a job so you have to give them a chance IMO.I have never though that Craig has classic style but can be fast I think the dirt caught him out IMO.
