Edinburgh V Newcastle (pl Ko Cup Qf 1st Leg) 14/6/13 @ 7.30pm

Recommended Posts

Photo in Newcastle Chronicle looks as if Tabaka has come in too fast and run out of room? I was on opposite side nearer 1st bend and was surprised Lindgren was excluded as from a side view he looked to be ahead, similar angle as the ref will have seen from? Anyhow it keeps the 2nd leg interesting, hope JT isn't out too long (he's in my fantasy team!)

I think you should only comment on things you know more about.

The fact was that in the days leading up the meeting the forecast suggested that there would be very heavy rainfall throughout the day on Friday. As Friday dawned there was still suggestion that there could be some showers throughout the afternoon followed by very heavy rain arriving anytime after 7pm.

Not to make excuses but given the circumstances of very little rainfall over the last few weeks and an horrendous forecast, it was certainly a very tough situation. By the time the forecasts were updated to suggest that the rain would not arrive until later on (in fact, it arrived at 10pm), the opportunity to water to a sufficient level had long since passed. Just to add to a mix of the worst possible circumstances, there was a strong wing blowing throughout the day and occasional spells of warm sunshine. The track was watered throughout the day, though not to the point that it would have been had the forecast been good.

Of course the club will always endeavour to put out a terrific racing surface, unfortunately it didn't work out yesterday.

And the week before ???

the updater on monarchs site says tabaka should have been excluded???

My take on it along with the guys I stand with on the home straight. Opinions game as always, but from our perspective there on the night that was my view. Don't really know what your point is....

I don't mind being wrong etc...but was my thoughts on the night

i was on the 3rd bend where it happened hard one to call as max came flying under both them which caused Lindgren to move out which caused Joe to run out of room and fall. Hard to see if lindgren actually touched Joe or not but from the referee's box it probably looked like he did so thats why he probably went for Ludvig in the end.

Only if you got the sky replays at every meeting.

From the 3rd bend it looked like Joe had just got past Ludvig on the outside with Max charging hard on the inside and about level as they entered the bend. There appeared to be contact between Max and Ludvig which sent him flying into Joe and both into the fence. Difficult to say if it was Max barging Ludvig or Ludvig turning into Max but definitely not Joe's fault in my opinion.

If I'm being honest my first reaction was that I thought Max would be excluded.

Overall I thought the match was fiercely contested by two excellent sides on a track on which it was difficult, but not impossible, to pass.
