Sheffield V Plymouth 13/6

Recommended Posts

I thought the tigers team manager cost them dearly - I'd have put koppe out in heat 8.As it was they were lucky to get a point with Bechs bike stopping on the last bend.

It was good to see Koppe and Haines improving so much - the former, in particular, was a different rider to the one I saw at my last visit. Replace Knight with a 7pt man when the averages change and Sheffield will have a good side.

Was Koppe good? i was at Swindon but knew he was on 6 out of 6 so maybe 9 is disappointing. But paid 21 out of two home meetings a great return Sheffield if they make a change could be hard to beat at Owlerton.Because make no mistake Plymouth are a very good side and Bech will get better.

Agree HT, with the way Koppe was riding compared to Knight, he should have had 7 rides tonight and should have been in Ht8 and 12 and Knight in Ht13 for Albin.

Think the Hall/Wells pairing isn't working either, put Ricky back to 5 and Facundo to 3 as it gives the side much better balance.

Well done to Joe and Damo, they have come in for criticism this year but done well in the last 2 meetings, let's hope that continues.

As stated after Saturday at Rye, we should have between 4/5 extra points to play with, so hopefully can strengthen the team and get ourselves moving in the right direction for the second half of the season.

Team manager screwed up heat 8 koppe should have gone off gate 1and would hopefully have got a 5-1.In hindsight that would have won the meeting instead of drawing.10 heat winners at home and only draw, too many lasts cost us.Oh well lets move on and make sure facu and damo get thro Saturdays meeting and get their true averages so we can make the change.

Yes, 10 home heat winners, but only Stead,3 times, & Haines, once, came round after their race to acknowledge the crowds applause.Disgusting, we're constantly told to get behind the team, but are the team bothered ?

Why so many laps of ineffective track grading, the spinner does not bring the dirt back in from the outside, so that just gets deeper as the meeting progresses, and becomes more unsafe to venture into, especially exiting the second bend, what is wrong with using the angled grader, it's not rocket science !

I would guess/hope it is Compton who is coming in. Looked fast and stylish last night practising. Maybe just who we need to bring the crowds back. Stead and Compton same team again? 2 x Owlerton legends

It would have to be one of Compton or Roynon (not sure what their averages are to be honest) and I'd be very happy with either.

After the last two seasons we've had, I never thought I'd read a comment like this on the forum. Thank you kind sir, you've made an old mariner very, very happy :D

It's obvious from what happened last night that we need a team manager who knows what they're doing. We didn't deserve to get a point last night and only the misfortune of Bech falling on the last bend (for whatever reason) gave us one.

If it is so obvious to the fans on the terraces who needs to be in what heat, why can't he see it down in the pits! It's not that difficult, so get some one in with the experience to do it. Eric Boocock was there last night - any chance of him coming back?

Damien Koppe has vastly improved over the last two weeks, his pass on Lemon in 13 was brilliant, pity he couldn't hold onto the bike going into the next lap!

Jake Knight unfortunately must go, he's just not ready for the premier league yet, even though he did show promise in his first couple of meetings.

What's happened to Richard Hall? Started the year like he could be World Champion (LOL), since his injury looks like the old RH from last year! Still putting plenty of effort into his long track season though!

As for Andre Compton making a come back...... the way Richard Lawson was running around after him in the pits during free practice suggested there's more likely hood of him going back to join his pals at Worky than Sheffield. Any one at Workington like to comment on this... any riders that you're looking to replace?

I'd certainly like to have him back in the team at Sheffield, would certainly make us stronger at home!

i think we have a very settled team at workington, so there is no need for andre to rejoin worky... andre was quite poor away in the last few months while riding for us, as was his home form. good luck to him if he makes a come back. richard will help any one, especially compo. dont read too much into the after meeting spanner work.. friendship amongst riders who help other riders.

By no stretch of the imagination was Koppe disappointing - indeed, he was completely different rider to the one I saw a few Weeks ago and there's every chance Sheffield have got an excellent signing there. It was a shame that he fell after brilliantly rounding Lemon, because that would have been the icing on the cake.

So who can Hoglet get on the cheap to replace Knight ? Or is Compton nailed on ?

It was stated in the programme a few Weeks ago that Compton would need substantial financial backing, so I doubt if he will sign.

I've got to agree that we need a team manager who knows what he's doing. The thing I find most surprising is that no one seems to have mentioned the fact that last night we were running Rider replacement for the fifth averaged rider in the Number 5 position meaning that only Joe, Damien and Jake could take the rides. In 3 of the races there is already either Damien or Jake in the race anyway so in 2 of the rides it was going to be the 2 reserves. That was the only reason why Jake had so many rides.

I don't understand why its taken so long to change the riding order. It was obvious to most people at the start of the season that Joe should be riding at number 2. It is also obvious that Ricky riding with Richard is not a good combination. I have always thought that Richard should be riding at number 5 at home with Ricky riding at 5 for away meetings but that seems to be far too obvious for our team managers.

We need now to hope that Saturday's meeting goes ahead so we can make some much needed changes.

You won't see Andre back at Worky, him and Richard are really good buddies and Richard is now based Chesterfield way so think its a matter of helping out for his return to Sheffield
