greyhoundp
I am disgusted that the promotion have devalued the Gary Peterson Trophy .......Me and many other Wolves fans spent years asking CVS for some kind of recognition for Gary.....Initially a trophy was handed out to the Wolves rider who gained the most bonus points during the season. Then an Individual meeting was set up for young riders (which was very fitting)..... Now it is reduced to a `Rider of the night` second-half event at a Cradley love-in !!! ....Shameful.... I agree with your comments about the Gary Peterson memorial, however to be sarcastic towards Cradley is not being entirely fair, its YOUR promotion who see this as an opportunity to have there most profitable meeting for 2 seasons, hence the £1 more admission fee than normal NL meetings which this was at best, and its for them who have to lie easy with what the meeting means, and has been reduced to. Don't think Dudley have any problem with what the meeting has been reduced to as they have quickly arranged the return fixture for next Tuesday and their website is claiming "the local bragging rights" Suppose you can't get too much of inflicting misery on your local rivals.Enjoy Edited July 2, 2013 by New Science
Boffy
The use of the term `Cradley love in` was aimed at the Wolves promotion.......and I presume that the return match will not have anything to do with the Gary Peterson Memorial trophy

SteveEvans
What would have been better and made this meeting more meaningful would be two even teams compromising of some actual Wolves riders (Wells, Adam, Ludvig, Jacob and some other riders brought in below) and some of the top current Heathens at reserve and 2nd string and bringing in riders who have 'graduated' the Dudley Heathens such as Royno, Dyer with maybe a true #1 for the level of this meeting (Fish). Essentially the meeting was a home match for Dudley and was guaranteed to bring in a big crowd - smart way for a profitable meeting. The Wolves team was merely a select with only one rider with a link to the club and one we will never likely see in our EL side. I do however hope one day the Heathens and Wolves are in the same league as a true derby with real teams is simply unbeatable in speedway. Bagpuss
I do however hope one day the Heathens and Wolves are in the same league as a true derby with real teams is simply unbeatable in speedway. To the people involved I'm sure it was but those of us from East Anglia would say Lynn v Ipswich home and away on Good Friday was unbeatable and I'm sure the Scots would say the same about Edinburgh v Glasgow, or the Oxford/Reading/Swindon supporters when their sides clash. Derbies in any sport are always 'the best' to those involved.
cityrebel
being a lifelong london speedway fan i have seen plenty of derbies over the years. the 'derby' i don't understand is the eastbourne v poole south coast version, how can these matches be derbies when there are over 100 miles seperating both venues! Having looked into it, the only closer tracks I could find were West Ham and Hackney who apparently were only 3 miles apart!

They could even have thrown in Ermolenko and Pedersen, both who have ridden competively recently and would have been competitive at that level. SteveEvans
Nick Morris could have ridden for Dudley seeing that his dad his a Heathen's fan. Wolves: 1. Skornicki, 2. Ludvig 3 Jacob, 4 Sam, 5 Ricky, 6 Haines 7 Perry. Heathens 1. Fisher 2. Dyer, 3. Roynon 4. Jan O, 5. N Morris, 6 A Morris, 7 Blackbird
