Rye House V Sheffield Pl 15th June

Recommended Posts

Bl**dy weather, lovely sunny late afternoon now, might as well just crack open a tinny and slob out in front of the TV :drink:

Sun is blazing down over North London. We had a really heavy shower about 90 minutes ago, but I reckon they could've sorted the track out in time for a 7.30pm start if they really wanted to. I shouldn't think they were desperate to get this on with the injury situation and a few free Saturdays ahead

My thoughts exactly, Garritty back soon, Bunyan and Lambert a couple of weeks to finish healing.

But another Saturday night without live speedway

I've just noticed that this has been made a double-header with the Glasgow Tigers fixture on July 20th.

If I can ask a dim newbie question as I've never been to one, how does a club run a double-header in terms of times, ticket prices etc.?

Normally at Rye House, evening double headers start an hour earlier than normal (6.00pm) and I think price is £ 20.00 for a full adult. No reductions for part meetings, 2nd match only etc.

at todays prices £20 is good value for a PL double header. whether the rockets team and track can stand up to the rigours of 30 heats of racing is another matter!

I agree. £20 is excellent value. My first ever live speedway meeting was a double header at Rye House, v Poole & Edinburgh in 1985

Remember Woffy Snr breaking a collarbone in the Poole match? His second ride I think. Remember we lost 38-40 to eventual champions Poole, but we hammered Edinburgh (including a young Mark Burrows) by 30 odd. Silver, Garrad, Mullarkey, Woffinden, Stevens, Rolls, Brice. Think that was the line up. The programme is somewhere in the garage!
