Jayne
With the news that air fences will be compulsory at all tracks from 1st March 2014 Buxton have set up an air fence fund. The club need to raise approx £18000 to buy an air fence or they will not be able to stage league racing next year. Obviously this is a huge sum of money for anyone so we are in the process of forming a fund raising committee and are looking into various ways to raise the required funds. The PL will be staging meeting/s to raise the required funds but the NL will need to do more than that as the riders would have to ride for free for most of if not all season. speedy bill
hope you can come up with some good ideas Jayne how about a pound a week payment from people coming in to the stadium i know its not much but it will add up if you get 200 people to meetings that is 200pound a meeting 10 meetings thats2000 would be a good start
Daniel Smith
I read on Twitterland that Buxton are looking for £6000 so they can purchase a 2nd hand air fence???? not £18000?
Jayne
Things are moving on a daily basis as we speak to more people for clarification and advice. We were originally told that we might be able to purchase a second hand fence for around £6K, this information was passed on to riders and officials after Sunday's meeting hence the details on twitter and facebook. This option is now looking unlikely for a number of reasons. We have been measured up for a new fence (again on Sunday) and that is going to cost just under £18000 including the vat. It maybe that something comes up over the next few months and we can get something second hand but at the moment it looks like we have to try and plan for the worse case scenario (for the club) and that is a new fence at a much higher cost. We have some more quotes to get so maybe there may be a cheaper option or then again there may not. Unfortunately we can't just sit and wait and see what happens as we are already conscious of the short timescale for this to happen. It would have been helpful to have more notice but we can't change that and just have to do our best to comply with the regulations and raise the money required. Ommer Mon
If the buckets are out when Dudley are there soon I will certainly contribute. Best of luck with it Jayne. We can't aford to lose teams over this.
Mad Potter 2
Have you tried robbing a bank instead of them robbing you Jayne. Seriously though Jayne if you have a donation bucket will put some money in.
Neil H
This seems to be hitting just 4 teams - Buxton, IOW, Kent and Mildenhall (I think). Would it be possible to borrow a section of Sheffield fence to cover Buxton? Over the years there have been several 'big' crashes at Buxton but the riders have always walked away relatively unscathed with Richard's fence coming off worse. cityrebel
mildenhall have already got a foam type fence. kent have air fence panels on parts of the bends, the gaps just need filling in. the IOW, like buxton have a massive task ahead to raise the funds needed, just like the vast majority of PL tracks. Neil H
Thanks for filling in the gaps of my knowledge. It would be good to see Elite League riders offering to do a 'free' meeting at Buxton like they did for their own tracks.

If there's air fences at all tracks then there's no excuses for them not doing it! Be nice to see Elite League riders having a blast round NL tracks! THE DEAN MACHINE
It would be nice if Elite and Premier riders offered their services free to help. this was proposed by the SRA about 5 years ago with jaaon crump fully behind the idea but to say some of the promotors responce was not favorable would be an understatement. a couple of them bordered on pig headed but then again the bspa showed at that meeting that they coulsnt care less what riders think Edited June 15, 2013 by THE DEAN MACHINE
