A quick Google search leads me to believe that he may not be Eurosport's most popular presenter.

Yes, http://www.motorcycl...topic-id=333309 he's does seem to be a 'cult' figure.

Just been browsing through some old posts on various motorctcle forums. Hells bells they've been trying to get rid of this turkey for years. Best suggestion was that he should appear on the next episode of 'celebrity gas chamber'. :D

I was gob smacked when Zagar was excluded for the incident with Saifudinov. Ref really got this wrong. Think it was a case of " we can't exclude the GP leader". Bad, bad call and Zagar was very hard done by. Glad he made it to the final as he desereved it.

I must admit, I was surprised, but partially I can see why the ref though that Zagar did move across in front of Emil causing the incident. To be honest, hard to say who was at fault, I still think ref's need the option to put all four back where the calls are so marginal. Although if that is allowed, too many refs will bottle out from making obvious calls.

Now everyone can see the reason why Darcy is so highly rated. A shame he was injured because I am sure he would have been challenging for the World Crown this season. Easily the best rider on show last night. No wonder Matt wants him straight back in the Poole team and has had to chop out a brand new rider who has done nothing wrong at all.

I don't think anyone ever doubted this Steve, a first class amazing racer without question. It's the off track stuff, it does take the shine away from his talent. I did have to giggle when he thanks his friends for making him who he is today.

The Eurosport commentator needs to go. No knowledge and tries to blag it. While he would get away with it with newcomers to the sport, many fans are extremely knowledgeable and he comes accross as a no nothing. Either get someone in who does know the sport, or just go straight back to Kelvin and his mate.

Agreed. Although with Sky not bothered about the GPs, I don't think we can moan too much at this.

And if anyone disagrees.... as Pearson told us last night, many times, it's all about opinions ;)

the bloke is called Tony Carter and apparently he comes from a speedway background! As his dad and grandad both raced speedway and grass track!

So who was/is his dad then? For someone who has such a speedway background his use of terminology (or lack of) is terrible.

Not sure who his dad is/was but here's Tony,

http://londonbikers....?g=1573&i=63437

Seems like a nice boy

Here is a whole load of tosh about him

http://www.paddockch...ke-passion.html

(sorry already posted)

How about a competition to find out the famous Dad?

He looks, what, thirty something?

So his Dad must have been riding back in the early eighties?

What is that accent, where in the country?

And he's ginger.

With last night being reported as the last GP at Copenhagen, will it return to Vojens next year?

lets hope it returns to Vojens next year - I had my first visit to Parken this weekend and really enjoyed the Gp and if it is to be the last one I,m even happier that I went this year .

I enjoyed what was my third visit to Parken last night and I hope it will not be my last but it does not sound too encouraging!

Well done to Darcy Ward and I hope AJ and Freddie will be back riding soon!

Nice also to have a chat with racers and royals at the airport both yesterday and today!

Back home after a fantastic trip to Copenhagen for what turned out to be a belting meeting.

!st observation is how come they always get the track in such good nick there & yet Cardiff is crap every year?? Its indoor & virtually the same size & yet they're like chalk & cheese. Decent bit of dirt on it when Cardiff always looks sandy, dry & bald. No idea why this happens year after year??

From an Aces point of view Matej was awesome..to come back after the ref kicked him in the teeth & do so well was a great effort from the lad. For me, nearly as important as us getting the new stadium up & running is signing him & Cooky to be full time Aces assets. With them 2 & Worrall to start the team off we should be looking half decent..

Gotta say that Darcy Ward was absolutely sensational & he really is a joy to watch. He's so fast its unreal & to see him live is so exciting it really is. In 35 years of following this sport i'm not sure i've ever seen a more naturally talented rider. He's so good its frightening & i think barring his injury that he'd have been World Champ this year.

I know him & Holder give our track some stick but i really don't care, the 2 of them r bloody fantastic riders & are 2 that i would pay to watch ride any day of the week. All us Aces fans know how rubbish our track & stadium is which is why we wanna move so badly, so even tho these 2 give our track more hammer than any1 i aint gonna hold it against em to be honest.

Since the silly postponement the other i dont think Darcy has been the most popular rider amongst our fans but i was there this weekend with 8 other Aces fans & its fair to say we all felt it was the right result & that he's on a different planet when he rides like that. Would have been a travesty had he not won the meeting.

The sport needs guys like them 2 as well as Tai, Emil etc to keep it going. I really think the GP series will get better & better over the next few yrs once a few of the older guys drop out & even more fast fearless young uns come in & if they get decent tracks to ride, this is what they r capable of serving up.

Long may it continue

Sorry, trying to edit my post on the likely identity of Tony Carter's famous Speedway Dad and managed to lose it.

Starting again ...

The only two Carter's I can come up with are ROB CARTER from the early eighties in the North and the Peterborough stalwart of the seventies ROY CARTER.

The photos I've seen of Tony Carter seem to show him to be a fair ringer for Rob Carter but any son of Rob Carter could not have been around early enough to have memories of the seventies. At first I was convinced that ROB was the man but now I don't see how he could be....

So ROY CARTER may be the one and this would tie in with Tony's long association with MCN in Kettering.

I stand to be corrected again.

I've corrected myself more than once already.

FULLY agree but, as I have said countless times, track preparation isn't an exact science whether temporary or permanent. If it was, and all speedway tracks produced the sort of racing we see at places like Bydgoszcz, Torun, Malilla and a few others the sport would not be suffering in the manner that it is. That is what is so frustrating. At its best speedway knocks other motorsports into a cocked hat ... at its worst like watching paint dry.

And have to agree about Bradford Ace with regard to Ward. Some good stuff from Kelvin Tatum in his SS column this week...

I'd agree with you Phil.Fingers crossed someone does a bit of magic with Prague and sorts Vojens out in the future as well.I don't think much can be done with that Italian track though

YOU are right about Terenzano... everybody hates the track. Heard good reports about GP qualifier at Lonigo. Pretty sure SGP will return there in 2014.

Correct decision by the referee ! From my point of view, Zagar shut the door for Sayfutdinov (MZ knew that ES was just behind, must have heard his engine)

Zagar's comment in front of the microphone "disqualify the referee !?"

I asked 2 ex-riders, both shared my opinion, Matej Zagar was aware that he closed the door for Emil Sayfutdinov. Emil was coming with speed on the outside and would have passed with enough room left for him ..... Unluckiest guy of course is poor Andreas Jonsson . Bad injury because of this incident. Again, very good the decision by the referee !

Any comments from other people could be interesting.
